I was raving AS this tune came out. It was fucking HUGE. I remember the first time I heard it - it was an unprecedented era. In one year we had this, Bodyrock, Casino Royale, Cybotron LP, Planet Dust ... just bare tunes. And what happened after that? People like Clipz etc made clownstep.
Anyways, back to this tune. It was fucking unbelievable. And everyone would run to the dance floor when it came on. Fucking orgasmic. And great on E.
@johnnymassacre "AS this tune came out",..... so about 10 years after d+b came into existence!
Fair play though, it is a proper good tune. I would say 2001 was the year that d+b fell into a horrifically stale period of around 5 years. It never returned to the quality of 1998/99 but it was better than 01-06.
LOVE THIS! Have it on White label and it kicked ass in SSOOOO Many sets and mixes I did..... A true piece of D&B mayhem that will be forever kept in my record collection and my fondest memories........ :-D
This goes down as the greatest "mistake" in D&B history. Glad Mr. Majik accidentally hit the 45 button, cuz otherwise we'd never get this awesomeness. Still one of the greatest breakdown's ever.
Shame about the later mix of this (done with Wickaman) called something like "Space Invasion" - which is as wack as a Hannah Montana gig. This is a beast though, and is one of my alltime fave D&B cuts. :)
this is very true, and I think sportsmen models and musicians all share one burden; the rich dude setting prices and collecting ticket money and telling them how they should expect a living from their talent because the only talent his living depends on is theirs
Yeah, it's really frustraing and defeating, causing a lot of trouble for the artist, mental, financial, social, artistical, you name it. It's a mad world :)
yeah man, ain't that the truth, but I figure if I ever get there, the difficulty of it will only make it more rewarding, and I hope thats how it is for those who did:) cheers dude
@noiz87 it is, however, extremely refreshing to see a well thought out response to my comment, you are right it isn't black and white, I suppose I should mention I pay for my music when I can, I simply think that if you can survive off of a non-essential skill you better #1be damn good at it and #2be damn thankfull while it lasts
I co-sign everything you've said :) Don't know why you adressed it at me in the first place, I was the one saying that artists get minor provisions, they're far from multimillionares. Living their dreams? Well, folks get 10 million dollars for kicking a ball on the soccer field for 90 minutes. Models get millions for simply walking. I'd say that's not really fair now is it..
this is true, but I'm pretty decent at what I do but nobody is jumpin up to pay me for it, all I'm saying is that if you enter into it as a career, be prepared to go to work just like w/ any other profession, don't complain about the job you choose because it doesn't quite pay enough because a musician is one of the very few people in this world that gets paid to live his dream, I know, we all must get paid, but it should be a little less about the money and a little more about the music
I believe a musician who demands pay for his work should question why he is a musician, I am a drummer, I play for fun and I would pay to get on stage and be recorded, music is not a greed issue(or it shouldn't be)
That's a really heavy topic to discuss with 500 character limit here. Some musicians choose music as a way of life, meaning they expect to earn their daily food from it. Playing for fun is another thing, and having resources to be the one paying to get on stage and get recorded. There's a lot more to music, publishing and musicians than meets the eye. I know a lot of great "play for free" musicians but they still have to get their money from somewhere, and that's selling records.
Far away from my personal taste (I prefer so much Ed Rush & Optical version), this track set up the best season of jump-up for dnb at 2k1, getting a bit out of the liquid ascension on that year. The sample work made by J Majik was quite awesome, energetic, what is more exposed in the Space Invader (2k7 version w/ Wickaman). Great tune indeed.
Well labels themselves are the biggest pirates there are. Artists get minor provisions and that's pretty ridiculous considering that they're the ones doing all the work :)
what's the name of the mix? I've found lots of mixes but all were released in 2001 (underwater mix, olav basoski's mix, king unique's, ian pooley's, mr. g's)...
it there a specific name for this mix because i have a j majik remix of the same tune but its got a bit more thump on it and the builds are more energetic... although its essentially the same tune!! is this just an old mix or something??
Might be, from what I've seen on discogs, an other, shorter version of the same mix exists on the same album. Or might be some unreleased re-remix, edit, cut, lord knows :) If you wouldn't mind posting up that version, I'd love to hear this with stronger builds and more kick to it!
interesting to hear people say that this doesn't build, that's the genius of it for me. this is the kind of tune that as a DJ i used to love, it was like the glue that held the killer tunes together!
i don't mean that disrespectfully, J-Majik is as good as there is but sometimes a bit of subtlety in the mix should not be underestimated - this tune comes alive sandwiched between two heavier tracks and the skill of the DJ to mix and blend it to blow your fucking mind!!
this one is fucking awesone. i love it. i so fuckin' loove and it's the best tune i've ever had. i'm drunken so i'm sincere, frank. I LOVE IT. IT'S TRUE.
Sorry not doin' it for me. Sounds like someone has sped up a choon and then just got lazy with it. It sounds very tired like a long intro that goes no-where.
I'm just gonna be blunt and say that this is a pure ecstasy tune man. Take some, go listen to it on a big system, and then I dare you to come back and tell me it didn't blow your mind to bits. What you can't hear on youtube is the piercing top end which keeps rising and falling in the mix. It'll fuck with your head in a good way!
man this is one of the first few song that was playing when I fisrt got into DnB.. this hook me hooked in .. and AK 1200 and Diesle Boy wheeled me in :D
HI there, I remember a mix of this track with another one in which there was a female voice singing: "I can be blue around You" and it was great. I heard it on a polish radio called Radiostacja. "This is and will always be the best remix of this track."
This might be the best liquid funk track of the the first 10 years of 21 century.
How do ya like like that.

Phew, that's quite the statement. I seriously don't know if I agree with you, there's loads of great liquid funk tracks, each is great in its own way..

This is and will always be the best remix of this track. I recently heard the High Contrast one and it didn't do the song justice.
