I have one, and all I can say is it sucks. They need to take the HD out of the name, because all my footage is grainy, dull, and unfocused. It's NOTHING like what you see in this video here. Thinking of just using my camcorder, again, even though the uploads take 92 years.

You mind telling me if you can use the webcam settings and controls when using other programs that use the webcam?

For instance, I use a stop motion frame capture program and I was wondering if it allows you to open the settings and/or controls separately so I can control the white balance while filming.

i have the same webcam and it does not record in 30 fps on the default program it is 10 to 15 fps to fix this you have to uninstall the default program and get virtual dub so you can set the webcam to it's full potential. Other than that this webcam is awesome...

i have used this webcam for my video for a good few months now, and have had almost no problems with it. i didnt have any of that high pitch buzzing like urs did (no offense). the only thing wrong with it is the auto focus. I HATE IT, sometime in my videos, it will go in and out of focus, and it loks really bad. if you have any tips on fixing this, that would be great

Great picture quality BUT the motion does not look smooth at all. I can bet that if you select a lower resolution then it will be show super fastest images, which means that that webcam is not really ready for 1280x720P. I saw that crappy problem in all youtube videos reviewing this "720p" webcam.... Thanks youtube, now I know I should not buy this webcam.

I own 2 Microsoft Lifecam Cinema HD webcams and the picture quality and sound quality is far superior then the Logitech Quickcam 9000 pro. You can have true 16:9 720p @ 30fps and the sound is DVD quality 16bits 48000KHz digital noise cancelling mic. I'm very excited and happy to own the Lifecam Cinema HD webcam. I highly recommend this to anyone! But don't forget to get the latest Lifecam software and firmware upgrade from the microsoft website.

Actually I found out how to do it and it works with the software included. You have to go to your sound options in windows and disable your second mic, open the program, and then enable it and it works.

Played it back and the webcam software has recorded the line in... I was going to write back to you and tell you... but anyhow thanks dude

I have this cam. The high pitched noise for me is even worse than in his video. I got rid of the high pitched hiss by going into Window's Vista record settings and changing it to AM quality. This replaces it with a waterfall ssshhhh sound, but that's more bearable than the hiss. As for the picture quality, going at full 1280x720 HD just seems like 640x360 stretched out, as in very grainy with no extra data, so I just keep it at 640x360.

Wow.. for a webcam under 100 bucks I'm definatly buying this... was actually about to buy a Logitech 9000 Pro.. which was about 120 Canadian.. but this ones about 85 Canadian without taxes.. so I'm going to guess about 95 dollars.. not bad at all

That is the actual sound from the built-in mic on the lifecam - get the newer Logitech Webcam 9000 Pro or Notebook Pro - they do also support 1280x720 and better lighting and no "high pitch" sound from the mic like this microsoft one LOL

@xTpux It's from the microphone.. I wouldn't use the mic on the webcam because you can't expect good audio from any webcams really.. I would use an external studio mic but the software that comes with webcam don't support external mic input. But there are other recording softwares so I wouldn't worry about that either :)

great review. been thinking of a new cam for my dad so I can talk with him and i cringe everytime I think of the hundreds of dollars i've wasted on logitech crap over the past 15 years since the first quickcam came out back in the 90s. logitech should have their shit together by now, but they seem to be the same bunch of chumps who focus on marketing crappy old sensors by wrapping them in stupid new designs. looking forward to trying this camera out.

The skype quality is great. But skype itself does not support HD due to the huge amount of data they would have to stream if you did a skype call in 720p.
