Just to inform you, this comparison is now outdated; Maglite has a new LED in their flashlights now; the Luxeon Rebel. It is MUCH more superior when compared to the Luxeon III used in the Maglite in this video.
As a Christian---Obviously I'll defend God any day of the week---but in this day and age---Everybody bags on Christians---so to throw a Christian song on a youtube vid with all the Christian haters tells me---Brian doesnt really care whatcha think!! Right on---Good vid---I'm trying to find a good flashlight for tactical/EDC usage without spending mega bucks....
@Jeenyus1983 If your all-power god created the universe (and the USA) why would he need defending from a mere sinner such as yourself? The thing is, there's probably no god to defend. So you're just a solution looking for an imaginary problem. What an ego you must have! LOL
The CHEAPER Surefires are like $70. The 4-D Maglite is $20. Surefires are more technologically advanced, but can u break heads with it? The Maglite is indestructable, made in the USA, and freakin biker gangs dont carry them and call 'em kill lights for nothing!
i keep a 6d (niteize led) maglight in my car and edc a surefire 6p led, both great lights but for its size and efficiency the surefire is miles ahead.
help me cAn i use rechargeable batteries on my mini maglite the paper says to use alkaline batteries the rechargeable batteries are 1.2 nd there the bunny lol the alkaline are 1.5 also i have a mini maglite w the old bulb today at walmart i got a new one w the new xenon bulb nd a solitare also has the new xenon bulb so yea ^_^
ah yes the classic 4cell maglite or " patrolman's corrective " as it's also known....basically a long , heavy metal pipe with a light on the end . spot on john .
No, I just think it's a little dumb for people to comment on a person's song choice in a youtube video. And/or comment on why that person chose said song....when the song mentions light....and it is about flashlights...
@maurigian1 You're an idiot for thinking that. I'm not a religious person, but I'm not "offended" about his music choice; it seems fitting to me since its talking about "light". Just get over what music choice he made & watch the flashlight comparison for which was what this video was made for.
For everyone wondering about the song, it's "I Saw the Light," originally by Hank Williams, Jr., and I think this is a version by the David Crowder Band.
A few more minutes of searching and it looks like it's from the 2007 album "A Collision." If you search "david crowder i saw the light" on Google, it even lets you listen to the whole song.
i have a led lenser v2 with 90 lumens and its a very strong light very good quality easily outperforms many other expensive lights but thats just what i expect from a german product very good quality

if that is so you your car light are not working..
or are you talking stronger as in lux? my 6v sigma mirageX 5w/20W halogen bike light out throw my led maglite 3d and my 150 lumen tk20 easy.. maglites are weak led lights... not a lot of power(lumens).. only good throw and run time.. fenix tk40 and led lenser x21 have real power.. 650-930lumens..
Maglite LED burned out after 3 months my old krypton bulb lasted longer shit diodes ,rather use my 5W luxeon its not the brightest but for run time size weight and light output its pretty good.
@mynameizbrian Hey, Brian what exactly would the flood be useful for? When you put it in flood there is a big hole in the middle where there is no light. And how good is this flashlight at lighting up your side views? Cause I like flashlights that light up the side not only in front of me. And since when did they make the 4D LED ? There is only the 2D and 3D LED on the Maglite Website.
where did you get that nr from? my 3d mag led have maybe 5-10lumens more than my old 55lumen fenix l2t.. I think 3D are 60-70, 4D 80-90lumens.. if your talking the 3w luxeon led.. still it only have okey power first 15min.. after that it turns down.. it get`s to hot.. they are not made for leds.. no heat-sink..
I guess if you just want a small flashlight with a good power that's easy to carry in your pocket the Surefire is a good choice. However , at longer distances the Maglite is much brighter , I love the fact that it can really focus a lot of light on a small area and of course it's ability to "drive" trought pretty much anything without even scrathing the paint. That's just me...
In my opinion SureFire's are great flashlights ...if you are a hobbyist or a policeman in America, they are ridiculously priced (over $150 for a kind-of-decent one) also the fact that most run on expensive CR123's make them very impractical in a real emergency, if you live in the countryside, and useless if you take it outside the US. Besides who wants to be hunting the net for deals on those $5 a-piece batteries? When I can buy AA or D cells pretty much anywhere for a fraction of 123's
the surefire suxx, when you are searching fore something you dint want the light to be so bright that it is completly impossible to see what you are accuatly looking at. thats why the mag wins.. the best light i ever had with me on duty.
ah. nice then i can understand why u prefer the mag. i prefer mag for working on a car then a brite lite and i carry a cheapo 35 lum, led flash light for night fishing. but im look into buying me my own mag 3-4D and a mini for working on a car and night fishing
I'm not a security guard but if I was I know id rather sacrifice a bit of light and battery time and carry a mag lite rather than a tiny surefire... Would you rather have a pencil or a baseball bat for fighting? seems obvious to me.

Is the 4d LED Mag a lot better than the 3d LED Mag?? any big different?
how about the length? how far can the 4d mag reach compare to the 6P?
frommanhattan42 2 years ago
The best D LED maglite line is the 3D LED, its output is 90 lumens.
The 4D must be around 85 lumens.
pretty strange knowing that when it has more voltage the output must be stronger, but who knows?!
