Im not a big fan of bikes over 1000cc. But I am a fan of windy roads which were a blast on the 250 I used to have. I have upgraded to a 600cc and it is funner on the flat straight roads but not as much in the mountains.

you need to mention one thing with a big group..leave enough room between each rider incase there is a car that wants to pass..its a pain in the ass to pass a group of bikes all at once..if you can pass one at a time its safer..becouse trust me there is a car behind you that wants to pass

Get any bike you want to start out just take it slow, I got a 2008 cbr600 rr for my first bike and it a great bike, two weeks later I was mad I didn't get a 1000 cc bike, so a week after that I got a 2009 R1 and I love it, so I say again get the bike you love and take it slow and even slower if you have never had a bike before or the bike is bigger than a 600

maybe its cus im aussie, because in every team moto store (big moto shop) they say G S X- r ... just another wierd english translation due to accents i guess, heres teh funny thing, ive never ridden and i own a gixxer 750 ^^ .... and our licenses are diffrent to you we have to be on a provisional license for moto (nothing above 250cc) or with a certain power - weight ratio, so im just gonna ride it on theinproper license :D ,. and isnt riding on those old cracked roads bad for your tyreS?

I'm a beginner rider and looking for a bike. But, what I don't want to do is buy a bike then need something better in like a year or 2 once I become a better rider. What kinda bike do you think I should start out with and be a good bike for 3-4 years down the road as well. Let me know what you think. Would a 1000 be too much?

Something to think about, for international folks too, is to think about checking the local laws. Where I live, we have a power to weight ratio for learner bikes, and depending on the bike, you can start on a 1200cc bike.

So check everything first, get used to the bike and riding, and the different style of bikes (road, cruiser, tourer etc) and something you like to ride, and get good before spending loads of cash.

Then just enjoy it!
