You know ... almost always russel dies in fillms ... thats why his films are always so god damn touching :) .. i just love that actor :D
Like the song says he always days by giving up his pride but actually he dies for his pride in the most films oO so i dont really see why its russel :) ... anyways it are amazing pics and good made together and the song is like <3 ... defiantly wouldnt do it better :my only talent is comlaining guess xD ;)
@PartymusicNL This is using the lyrics as a conversation between the two characters of Hando & Maximus, not really to do with Russell Crowe dying in movies. Think of it in terms of the characters and not just a slideshow of photos from the two films. :-)
What a great song!!! And great photo compilation!!! I know one of the movies is Gladiator but which is the other? Thank you so much for posting this 7dlh7!
The other movie is "Romper Stomper" where Russell played a neo-Nazi skinhead named Hando. I was doing an abstract "conversation" between Maximus & Hando with the song as the conduit.
@7dlh7 - Haha. You are welcome! Not gonna believe this but I am just now realizing that I get messages on here!!! I've had this account for YEARS!!! Too funny! Anyway, I listen and watch this video a few times a week. LOVE the song and what it means. It helps me get motivated when I need that push. 8-)
They were henna temp tats. Funny story, he and the other cast members were out on the city streets one night during filming and got arrested cuz of course they all had the tats and apparently "looked" like they were gonna cause trouble! :)) The director came and bailed them out. =))
Ok hows this for a story - The guy who plays Davey jumped in front of a train before the film even came out, he had a Heroin problem.... I read it the other day, Russell Crowe wrote a song in his honour called 'the night davey hit the train' with his band 30 odd foot of grunts
As stories go, I was shocked to find out that the guy who played Davy (Hando's best mate in romper stomper) jumped in front of a train before the film was released...he had a heroin problem apparently and crowe later wrote a song about it with his band called 'the night davy hit the train', sad...but i like what he did there - instead of 'the train hit davy' it's 'davy hit the train' as if the train was the casualty, lol, cool sentiment.
That is a true story, Russell had lost touch with Daniel Pollock and felt that if he'd been more in contact with him maybe he wouldn't have thrown himself in front of the train. Though the lyrics are more for the fact that there is still a question surrounding Daniel's death, it's never been proven if he fell, committed suicide or was pushed.
I do love how he worded it too. An odd juxtaposition. ;-)
Wow, thank you, Sternchen! What a lovely compliment, I appreciate it very much!!
I do love this song so much and I was trying to think of a way to make it an illustrated song to add to my Russell Illustrated Songs collection. Then I saw a picture of Hando and Maximus side by side and it was an "A-HA!" moment as the lyrics just so fit to the two of them having a conversation. I really am enjoying that everyone's getting it! :-D
But the computer like voice at 2:50 reminds me of another song. But I don't know how it's named. Do you know? (Maybe it's from Fatboy Slim, but I'm not sure...)
Was trying to find it on the CSI soundtrack, and couldn't. So I found the whole album but can't decide to buy it, because I don't know if I'll like it all. I'll check out Nip/Tuck. Thanks, I love Julian McMahon.
He's very cool, yes! And the cool thing with iTunes is it's just a buck if you want only one song off an album. Saved me some bucks, I can tell you! I was the queen of the full album for one song purchase before iTunes came along! LOL
I'm watching that epi of CSI right now. First thing I thought was "Where has this been all my life?!" I vaguely remember it from Nip/Tuck as i did a marathon viewing of the entire series to date before this last season.
That's a big time yes, Butterfly! That's where I first heard it, I love Bones so much and the new shows are so good! The episode this song was in that I saw was a perfect place for it.
Their album, Meccano Mind, received rave reviews but somehow flopped; so they moved on to different things (probably dropped by the label). Their album, Meccano Mind, received rave reviews but somehow flopped; so they moved on to different things (probably dropped by the label). It just seems such a classic--even when I stand outside of myself and think of it as objectively as possible-- that I'm completely stumped by its failure. I would have at least expected Message, Pride, or Pray to have been a top twenty hit.
Perhaps it's just too personal and intimate for our shallow day and age. Who knows?
steelyman08 4 years ago
P.S. I meant a top twenty hit OUTSIDE of the U.S. (that would be more likely to occur in Japan).
steelyman08 4 years ago
This is such a beautiful song, I'm stumped too. And ITA, too much Britney, not enough soul this day and age. Thanks for the info, steelyman!
