  • Reall a great, concept, great idea, and a great execution!

  • @Albinozulu Thank you so much!! I am rather proud of this one and I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

  • You know ... almost always russel dies in fillms ... thats why his films are always so god damn touching :) .. i just love that actor :D

Like the song says he always days by giving up his pride but actually he dies for his pride in the most films oO so i dont really see why its russel :) ... anyways it are amazing pics and good made together and the song is like <3 ... defiantly wouldnt do it better :my only talent is comlaining guess xD ;)

  • @PartymusicNL This is using the lyrics as a conversation between the two characters of Hando & Maximus, not really to do with Russell Crowe dying in movies. Think of it in terms of the characters and not just a slideshow of photos from the two films. :-)

  • What a great song!!! And great photo compilation!!! I know one of the movies is Gladiator but which is the other? Thank you so much for posting this 7dlh7!

  • @msmtnbkr Hey, msm! Thank you so much!

The other movie is "Romper Stomper" where Russell played a neo-Nazi skinhead named Hando. I was doing an abstract "conversation" between Maximus & Hando with the song as the conduit.

    Appreciate your comment! :-D

  • @7dlh7 - Haha. You are welcome! Not gonna believe this but I am just now realizing that I get messages on here!!! I've had this account for YEARS!!! Too funny! Anyway, I listen and watch this video a few times a week. LOVE the song and what it means. It helps me get motivated when I need that push. 8-)

  • Amazing!

  • lmao i still come by during the school day to listen to the song during my comp class. pretty epic :P

  • syntax is the shiz. and great vid too! :D 5/5+ fav

  • Thank you so much, that's very nice of you! :-D

  • no prob! :D infact this was so good that i watched it school. couldnt stay away XDD

  • Now that is truly a compliment! :-D

  • Thank you! :-D

  • exellent ,,,,,,,,,

  • superbe la musique ainsi que la bande defilante

  • Man he fucking looked the part as Hando...how did they do his tats? Were they those temporary tats that fade after time or just drawn on him somehow?

  • They were henna temp tats. Funny story, he and the other cast members were out on the city streets one night during filming and got arrested cuz of course they all had the tats and apparently "looked" like they were gonna cause trouble! :)) The director came and bailed them out. =))

  • Ok hows this for a story - The guy who plays Davey jumped in front of a train before the film even came out, he had a Heroin problem.... I read it the other day, Russell Crowe wrote a song in his honour called 'the night davey hit the train' with his band 30 odd foot of grunts

  • As stories go, I was shocked to find out that the guy who played Davy (Hando's best mate in romper stomper) jumped in front of a train before the film was released...he had a heroin problem apparently and crowe later wrote a song about it with his band called 'the night davy hit the train', sad...but i like what he did there - instead of 'the train hit davy' it's 'davy hit the train' as if the train was the casualty, lol, cool sentiment.

  • That is a true story, Russell had lost touch with Daniel Pollock and felt that if he'd been more in contact with him maybe he wouldn't have thrown himself in front of the train. Though the lyrics are more for the fact that there is still a question surrounding Daniel's death, it's never been proven if he fell, committed suicide or was pushed.

I do love how he worded it too. An odd juxtaposition. ;-)

  • greate:-))

  • amazing I like it.....

  • Thank you, just11! Glad you enjoyed! :-D

  • Wouw, what cool song who can give me more information about the interpreter is there more of him. The best what I have belonged for a long time.

    Mannix

  • Syntax has an album on iTunes, you should check it. Though this is their best tune, IMHO. :-)

  • a wonderful song and a wonderful actor!

  • Thank you for posting, Funky! I wholeheartedly agree! ^_^

  • One of the best songs combined with one of the best actors...very very very well done ;)

  • Wow, thank you, Sternchen! What a lovely compliment, I appreciate it very much!!

I do love this song so much and I was trying to think of a way to make it an illustrated song to add to my Russell Illustrated Songs collection. Then I saw a picture of Hando and Maximus side by side and it was an "A-HA!" moment as the lyrics just so fit to the two of them having a conversation. I really am enjoying that everyone's getting it! :-D

    Thank you again. ^_^

  • -Pride takes away the very possibility of love, contentment, or even common sense. - C.S. Lewis

  • i am so jeaulous on you 7dlh7 i will that i can make so beautiful clips XD

  • I really love this song. Heard if first on an episode of CSI. Been trying to find it ever since.

  • It's absolutely fantastic! It's available on iTunes off the Nip/Tuck soundtrack. :)

  • Was trying to find it on the CSI soundtrack, and couldn't. So I found the whole album but can't decide to buy it, because I don't know if I'll like it all. I'll check out Nip/Tuck. Thanks, I love Julian McMahon.

  • He's very cool, yes! And the cool thing with iTunes is it's just a buck if you want only one song off an album. Saved me some bucks, I can tell you! I was the queen of the full album for one song purchase before iTunes came along! LOL

  • I'm watching that epi of CSI right now. First thing I thought was "Where has this been all my life?!" I vaguely remember it from Nip/Tuck as i did a marathon viewing of the entire series to date before this last season.

    It's really a nice tune!

  • One of those incredible tunes that almost slipped from view! Glad you enjoyed it!

  • They also had this song on 2 episodes of Bones(don't know if you watch that show). I fell in love with this song when I first heard it...

  • That's a big time yes, Butterfly! That's where I first heard it, I love Bones so much and the new shows are so good! The episode this song was in that I saw was a perfect place for it.

  • yeah, it's season 1 episode 16 The Woman In The Tunnel, but they played it twice in that episode.

  • I so gotta watch Season One again. It's such a terrific show.

  • yeah, i own both seasons so far and i plan on buying the third when it comes out

  • It's so cool now with the DVD collections. I'm keeping an eye out for a good price on Quantum Leap.

  • I love syntax; Fluke and 2 Bit Pie have the same people in them, but I was wondering if there were any other groups that sound like them

  • i like him so much in this clip i can eat him up

    XD

  • tell me about it!

  • Shame Syntax didn't do as well as the geek on the screen! Great song to choose.

  • Thank you, steelyman! :)

  • You're very welcome. Anyone who listens to Syntax and creates such a tastefully composed video deserves a pat on the back.

  • (grinning widely) Thank you!! Hee.

  • haha i have american gangster i like that film and russell he is so sweat love him ^^

  • what did happen to syntax?

  • Yeah, I'd like to know too!

  • Their album, Meccano Mind, received rave reviews but somehow flopped; so they moved on to different things (probably dropped by the label). It just seems such a classic--even when I stand outside of myself and think of it as objectively as possible-- that I'm completely stumped by its failure. I would have at least expected Message, Pride, or Pray to have been a top twenty hit.

Perhaps it's just too personal and intimate for our shallow day and age. Who knows?

  • P.S. I meant a top twenty hit OUTSIDE of the U.S. (that would be more likely to occur in Japan).

  • This is such a beautiful song, I'm stumped too. And ITA, too much Britney, not enough soul this day and age. Thanks for the info, steelyman!

  • Perhaps you have the cd? If not, I'm sure you'd love the whole thing.

Perhaps I'm not mad after all.... someone else agrees! Oh well, I'm off to be a recluse in the woods.

    Cheers,

    John

  • I still need to check the rest of their tunes out, thank God for iTunes! LOL

    Enjoy your trees, John. Hee.

    -Darrin

  • Nettes Lied, gefällt mir.

  • Froh mögen Sie es, Kuschelsack! Danke!

(I don't speak German, this is courtesy of Babelfish ;-) )

  • I love this song!

  • It's just so perfect in so many ways!

  • 7dhl7 do you made this clip i love this to

  • Why thank you so much, lizzy! That's very sweet of you to say! :-D

  • i love it you can make so beautiful clips i can't do that XD i love that music and the image's (L)

  • Well thank you, Lizzy! I'm so glad you enjoy this video, that means a lot to me!

  • i mean listen to that song it is so easy i can sleep so but the images are so beautiful so i hold my eyes open XD

  • :) He is gorgeous to look at!

  • Thank you, Casper and zab! This is def a really bitchin' tune. Glad it's getting around! And glad you like the vid, Casper! Thank you!

  • and i most cry almost by this clip

  • Great video, man. Heard the song on Nip/Tuck a few years ago and suddenly got the urge to listen to it again. Kudos.

  • i heard it on csi, it must be a tv fave!

  • I think so! It's found a life in TVLand!

  • russel crowe is amazing too though, romper stomper looks good, though i havent seen it... gladiator is one of my favorite films!

  • Oh if you ever get a chance to see Romper Stomper, it's AMAZING! Russell is SO intense in it! And Gladiator, of course, practically perfection! :-D

  • omg i know, he is totally gorgeous as well, in a beautiful mind and master and commander he and paul bettany (a fellow brit) make the mos perfect combo!

  • ITA!!! I thought it was totally brill that they did the two films together, excellent casting! Wonder if they'll get Paul to be Friar Tuck in Nottingham? LOL!

  • I love this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • sweet. love this song! =)

heard it on CSI and Bones..hehe

  • It's just the most amazing song ever! I could listen to it for hours. Oh wait... I have! LOL

  • I. Love. This. Video. Awesome song, I now love this song...and awesome editing of the pics. Russell is just so...wow.

  • Hee hee! Thank you!! I'm so glad! This is one of my more "esoteric" ones that doesn't get a lot of notice but I'd been wanting to do a vid to it for so long and I hoped folks would get what I was trying to do. :-D

  • Excellent song, heard it as sound track on CSI or Criminal Minds....

However, do a montage on Christopher Walken for me please :))))

    Thanks

    X

  • I heard it on an episode of "Bones" and fell in love immediately. It's on the soundtrack for "Nip/Tuck" so I guess maybe they use it for their theme song or something, not sure.

Hmm, Christopher Walken IS way cool, I'm with ya there. Did you see him dance in Steve Martin's "Pennies from Heaven" movie? Wicked cool!

  • No I havent seen CW dancing in Pennies from Heaven, but there is this awarded clip where he did also dance in. Its in my playlist... I will have to search, cant remember the name :(

  • I think I remember that! He did a tap dance that was amazing!

  • They have this track on many soundtracks now, the earliest I know is from Nip/Tuck.

    Love it! Both ;)

  • Thank you, TOA! Glad you like!

I purchased the song through iTunes and yes, the album artwork is from the Nip/Tuck soundtrack, so I'd say that's the original airing of it. Makes sense, given the lyrics and the premise of the show. Bet the scene was powerful with that song playing!

  • I heard it as the intro song to Law & Order: Criminal Intent (Episode: Privilege, from Jan 07)

  • Oh that's WAY interesting! It's really found a life for itself, hasn't it? Yay!

  • This song is one of the best songs ever.

and russell crowe is one of the best actors. Nice pics and a great montage.

    *keep up the good work

  • Thank you, sana!!! I agree on both points! LOL! So glad you enjoyed it. :-D

  • Great song on its own and a very nice

job of selecting the pic montage to

    accompany it.

  • Thank you so much, Scorpio! I'm so happy to hear you like it. And yes, this is an incredible song, I fell in love with it immediately the first time I heard it.

  • Why thank you, evaa! I'm very glad you liked it! :D

  • Nice Work!!!
