The Crusades...what a completely sad waste. A brutal religious war for land, power, greed, politics, etc., fought by thousands of people, most of whom probably couldn't even read. Holy wars...ha...why is there no such thing as a "holy peace?" Why is war supposed to be the way to show how much you believe in something?
Yes, it's so amusing watching this politically correct documentary basically blame the Crusaders for modern-day Islamic terrorism. The Muslims used just as brutal tactics to originally take over Jerusalem and the surrounding lands as the Crusaders did in the First Crusade. Of course, we're not going to mention this, for fear of insulting Islam, will we?
@mocirne Maybe, however. The two where very different in their context. Pope Urban, who started the first Crusade is credited for starting the idea of just war with the idea of holy salvation (terrorists today). The Crusades were never about conversion, but a power play at the Vatican. There was Islamic conquests before this yes, but by in large they were NOT for religious reasons but political reasons. Islam, before this, was also very tolerant of other religions.
@mocirne LOL You're so ignorant. The Muslims didn't use the same kind of brutal tactics in their original capture of Palestine. In fact, the Muslims were widely regarded as liberators, because the local population was sick and tired of the Byzantine rulers, their oppressive system, and the constant wars with Persia. The Muslims brought stability AND tolerance to the region. Jews and Christians lived freely. When the Crusaders conquered, only (certain denominations of) Christians lived freely.
@mocirne I don't see how the documentary is blaming the Crusades for modern-day terrorism. The reason why so-called "Islamic terrorism" exists today is entirely a recent political phenomenon. It has to do with the complete failure of the regimes of the Arab world in the past 50 years. It has nothing to do with Islam or the Quran -- I mean, if that were the case we would have had Islamic terrorism in the 18th and 19th centuries when so many Muslims were under colonial rule.
Question: How are Arabs descendants of Abraham through Ishmael, when the Arabs were pagan idol worshipers before Mohammed invaded Mecca and removed the idols from the Kaba? Abraham was against idols, 3,000 years before Mohammed, as the story is told in the Torah, (Bible). His sons and followers shouldn't be idol worshipers. But the Arabs were idol worshipers. Maybe Arabs have no relation to Abraham and they are the descendants of the culture and inhabitants of Ur (Mesopotamia).
@ammarmemon21 No way, it doesnt make sense. He was born over 2,500 years after Abraham. I don't think that they were related. Also Abraham was against Idols. The only people during Mohammed's time that were against Idols were Jews. Arabs worshiped idols in the Kabba until Mohammed learned about the Jewish religion and christian religion. Then he desceded to place himself at the end as the last prophet.
(1)According to Muslims, Mohammed didn't ascend to from the Dome of the Rock, he ascended from AlAqsa about 100m to the south.
(2)Jerusalem was always a Jewish city and therefore although the Arab Muslims were occupying it at the time of the crusades it never belonged to them.
(3) The Muslim jihad started much before the crusades, the crusades were only the first real chance to oppose the Muslims who were spreading Islam through violent warfare.
Foul! The documentary implied that Jewish and Christian Armenia, Syria, Judea, Egypt and North Africa converted to Islam--Not true! In the early 7th Century those peoples were slaughtered by the tens of thousands by the muslims. The Crusades were a reaction to that brutal aggression! What's happening now in the Middle East is a new Crusade in reaction to recent acts of muslim aggression against the US and Europe. Jerusalem and Constantinople will be liberated for the one true faith! Praise God!
He isn't lying fully. The Crusades WERE a reaction to the expansion of the various caliphates in the Middle East and the conquest of Spain. It was a way to regain Christian control of the Holy Land
at around 2.43rd minute, there is mention that Jersalem dome is from where Muhammed rose to heaven. i dont think that is correct. It is Jesus who rose alive to heaven from that place.

So many inaccuracies in this video:
(1)According to Muslims, Mohammed didn't ascend to from the Dome of the Rock, he ascended from AlAqsa about 100m to the south.
(2)Jerusalem was always a Jewish city and therefore although the Arab Muslims were occupying it at the time of the crusades it never belonged to them.
(3) The Muslim jihad started much before the crusades, the crusades were only the first real chance to oppose the Muslims who were spreading Islam through violent warfare.

So in part, it was reactionary.
