The truth that most of us Italians deny, is that southern Italians (Sicilians) tend to be darker skin than other Europeans and have curly hair. I am from North Italy(I am from Trentino).Peoples from southern Italy & sicily are as white & pure italian(italic peoples) as the north.I know this from travel & interraction. There were two improvised lines in this scene: Hopper starts it with "you're part eggplant" and Walken retorts with "You're a cantaloupe". Walken said the line was in reference to Hopper's head and how he was about to make it explode.
Even if the Moorish invasion of Sicily is completely blown out of proportion in this scene, the Moors aren't "niggers". There is never a sub-Saharan invasion of Europe.
Don't get me wrong, I adore this scene, the acting is beyond fantastic, dialogue is great, etc but too many people get hung up on the whole "SICILIANS ARE NIGGERS LOLOLOL" aspect of it.
Disregarding the prior discussion, this is my favorite scene of dialogue in a movie, period. Watch at about the 6:23 mark. Dennis Hopper starts on his rant completely off the script and take a look at Walken's face. He has no idea where he's going with it. That's completely real. This is some of the finest improvised acting you will ever see.

I am from North Italy(I am from Trentino).Peoples from southern Italy & sicily are as white & pure italian(italic peoples) as the north.I know this from travel & interraction. Every country especially that has a imperialist or colonial past including France,England,Netherlands will have a very small percentage of a mixed bag(North or South Italy, North or south england).London City is half non white,racially mixed marriages in Britain are way up.

There were two improvised lines in this scene: Hopper starts it with "you're part eggplant" and Walken retorts with "You're a cantaloupe". Walken said the line was in reference to Hopper's head and how he was about to make it explode.

Disregarding the prior discussion, this is my favorite scene of dialogue in a movie, period. Watch at about the 6:23 mark. Dennis Hopper starts on his rant completely off the script and take a look at Walken's face. He has no idea where he's going with it. That's completely real. This is some of the finest improvised acting you will ever see.

yeah. Italians initially were basically all Romans (who where white). Then the nord was invaded by Austrians and Germans (who were also white). Therefore, by mixing white people with white people you can only have white people! In contrast, the south was invaded by arabs or spaniards (who had previously invaded by arabs themselves). Therefore, by mixing white people and half negroes, you have 1/4 negroes and that's what Southern Italians are!!
