i had one like this 5 sided but mine was black. it was my frist guitar my dad got it for me for christmas and i gave it away. but if you have looked on ebay i should have saved it now i have many high dollar guitars but i wish i had one now
Almost three minutes of aimless chatter before playing the thing. I have olde Teiscos, I like the bright sound, and sure wouldn't take so long to let ye hear 'em. Coming this fall, videos featuring them, live.
@GotThe89Vision And you don't pay attention to the music! Whats have to see the clothes that he wear with the music? His helping us the learn how to play guitar, this is not fashion show
My first electric guitar was a Teisco Del Ray Strat shape, a '65 I think. I got it new for Christmas. It actually sounded really good. Sure wish I had it back.
That's the way you are supossed to sit with a guitar? What do you mean is uncofortablthe V's are the most confortable guitar y played with because it's so easy to sit with them. Except that when plugged in the guitar cable gets in the way. But nowadays the jack is in the upper part of the V. Also the B.C Rich Warlock is very easy to seat down with it...but the jack is in the lower part of the guitar.
i have one of these unused still in its original shipping box from 1969 with its amp, when i plugged it in the pickups are so microphonic that if you sing close to the pickups the sound comes through the amp.
he says the flying v isnt comfortable sitting down on a stool its not bad but the jackson rr has to be the most comfortable v guitar ive played for sitting or standing
I have one JUST like this. I mean, it's got the Del-Rey emblem on the head instead of a Teisco emblem. It needs a helluva lot of work, though. It needs a new set of strings and it won't play through my amplifier so I'm betting it has an electrical problem inside. Another thing is that mine is dusty, which I can fix, but I really want to get it rockin' again.
@doublealufwaffe I can't even fathom. It's like he's guessing about every aspect of the guitar and did almost no research. He exudes no confidence in the knowledge he's trying to convey. He's okay at guitar, but doesn't really switch styles to suit the instrument.
I keep coming back because unfortunately these putzes get their hands on really nice instruments.
@2Fast4U0921 Because this douche bag has access to cool guitars. Unfortunately he more often than not ruins the experience with his lack of research and knowledge. Even worse is when he plays through a Line 6 amp.
What's wrong with a Line 6? I have one and it works great! Besides that, he's not playing through a Spyder in this video. He's playing through a Fender Deluxe.
Ha...ha... ha.... That's a really good comparison! Comparing this guy, who is making guitar videos, to one of the most powerful dictators in the world. I don't know where you got that from.
These Teisco guitars are among the best deals on vintage instruments.
I just snagged a sunburst strat looking Teisco with a *mahogany* neck and thin mahogany body, two single coils...sweet as hell for on $130 with a case!40 year old mahogany sounds killer with single coils.
Also those old tremolos perform well too with a roller bridge(no permanent mods needed and cost 30 bucks). You can bend sharp and I like that.
With the short scale(typically) it's easy to bend notes too.
I have one of these - in black, with white scratchplate. Love it, may even sound better than some of the original Vox Phantoms (that may be blasphemy but I do have a Vox Spitfire MkVI, a MkXII, and more - so hey, I know a bit of what Vox can sound like...).
Thing is, you must give these guitars some time; play them, rock out, and they grow on you. Oh, and definitely change strings if you buy one of these :-)
Hey, That doesn't sound half bad. You should check out Vox's "Guitar Organ" Though, It is like what Teisco copied. There were two Vox models like this, One was the Guitar Organ and I can't remember the other one.
A friend of mine had one of those in blue, guitar was terrible, even after setting it up a dozen or so times thing would only stay in tune half a song or so. Saw one of Ebay for $750 and had to laugh, talk about buyer remorse waiting to happen.
I have the pleasure too own a Teisco EV-3T and it is great, I've changed the tunners (all of them) and I've hooked it up with Earnie Ball strings, this guitar gives you the biggest and greatest mojo if you play garage rock or surf riffs, I play it through a VOX AC30 amplifier and every time I play it I picture myself in a Pink Cadillac driving away from cops in a Tarantino movie
well, actually the fuzztones use vox phantoms, but this was an alternative to that guitar, but the difference with today's japanese guitar is that they sounded as good as the original (the vox phantom), other famous teisco guitar was the tg64 that was an alternative to the jazzmaster very famous in garage and surf rock musicians of that era :D
lol I'd love to own it just for the *WTF is that??* factor...
Would never play this for more than a few mins though; looks very uncomfortable (and quite ugly tbh)..... - though it's ugliness is part of the awesomeness (if that makes sense????) xD
Actually these old Teiscos (pronounced TeeSco, not TISco) saw many a standing ovation in their day. My and my high school buds played Teiscos (various) through old Fender tube amps into 6 Twelves and the "Good People" absolutely loved it. There is a '68 Teisco Checkmate 100 watt tube amp from this era that is highly sought after. Remember that during the 60s, Japan produced the absolute highest quality electronics and optical IN THE WORLD. Just something to think about before you disregard it
You said it yourself! You played through old * Fender Tube Amps *!!
I have a Teisco amp I had it new in 1972 and an Avon SG and it was an experience that no youngster will have to endure today when starting out. The only way it was half usable was with a cheap distortion pedal - think 'White noise'... I saw more than my fair share of these 'cheap' offerings in UK and actually, by today's standards, they weren't that cheap either! £50 in 1972 was quite a bit of pocket and birthday money
sounds like the truss rod is pretty tight, always wondered what these sounded like, very unique, way cool. I bet a smaller bigsby would look great for someone making a copy. should have played the 3 pickup one lol
i have a sea green/blue '67 teisco. it looks exactly like this vox copy - but mine is called a californian domino. i use mine at live gigs all the time in southern california and get compliments on the way it looks AND sounds. you just need to know how to dial in the sound with your half stack cab and processor. you have to give these old axes some leeway. they were cheaper knockoffs of the day. these guitars are very cool. dont listen to the haters.
I found a teisco bass that I now own. Its a EB-110N model. Its very short Scale, Del Ray bass guitar. The pickguard is black with a floral bandanna style pattern on it. The guitar itself has a green finish... Its very beautiful.
It also has a sort of rest that You can place your fingers on, I suppose so you could play with your thumb. It is one of the most common basses Teisco made, but Its very beautiful and serves as a great collectors guitar. It was made in 69, aswell.
that I knew :) (that he played a vox) I've wanted to find one since I saw a music video & it showed Brian playing one. I'm a lefty so it makes it harder to find :)
haha the designer has some strange ideas for body work.. i dont know if its lack of imagination or just too much imagination.. at least theres some ok bass tones for a guitar. looks like it was a challenge to play it though lol. not very easy on the fingers i see
