I enjoy watching this and your "this charming man" video all the time. So awesome. I don't play bass, but I always listen for it when I listen to music. You're lovely!
It's a Steinberger L2. Very rare high end bass made in the 80s. It's all graphite construction makes for a very round "synthetic'' sort of sound. At least to my ears.
hey man very nice playing and i love this songs bass part :). i pretty much have it down but the only part i have trouble in is @ 0:41 - 0:43. can't hear exactly what to play there. tips appreciated.
try to get a fender jazz made in mexico or japan. the quality on those basses has improved over the years. something used is a good bet. spend 500-900 bucks. you dont want to spend too much just in case you decide its not for you.
Best bass cover I have seen. You have clearly listened carefully to what is being played.

Excellent playing!
I'm having difficulty getting the bit with chords though. I'm fairly good at doing stuff by ear so I'm slowly figuring it out.
If I manage to finish working out what they are I'll reply to this comment with what I think the tabs are for the chord bit.

The Smiths played on a Steinberger.
I am a bass player and always been fascinated by the Steinberger ever since i saw Sting & JJ Burnell playing one. Would love to try one.

You make it look so effortless! I was getting my fingers in a twist learning this one, more practice I guess,
Is this the official bassline, or did you pick it up by ear? You're excellent

wern't most of the basslines created by marr?
krienmineel 2 years ago
Really? I thought Andy Rourke sewed morrissey cause he didnt get enough cred for his basswork (I assume that he actually wrote his own parts)
Perhaps he and marr collaborated, i dunno
