ci sono solo 2 motivi per cui una corda sembra o è morbida, una è le corde più piccole, una è la posizione del ponte rispetto il manico...

It employs every technique Petrucci has in his arsenal, and in my opinion still stands the test of time. He has some mind blowing stuff in his catalog for sure: erotomania, As I am, Lie, the stuff on a couple of tracks from Scenes, and a fortune in lies come to mind. But nothing as complete as Under a glass moon. I applaud both John and this guy. This is masterwork.No whammy?Still perfect

@OmniscientVirtuosity I can see, you´ve only heard Awake and Images and words petrucci, but there are a lot more techiques in his "arsenal" this song has barely arpeggios, and all of the techniques are quite under control, he has, a lot of quicker solos, and more difficult, not only in dream theater but in his solo albums

Petrucci isn't even the best guy in the band anymore, it's Rudess. Nothing tops Images and Awake so WTF are you talking about? That's like saying Reload is better than Master of Puppets. Even Petrucci will tell you that is a stupid thought. Dream Theaters best days are way behind them. Especially since John doesn't even play Ibanez anymore

DT's just taken a different direction with their music nowadays, that's all. It would be nice to see them return to their more progressive sound of the early 90's. BC&SL had some pretty good solos (shattered fortress, a nightmare to remember, especially the best of times).

Anyway, I've played your guitar and a few of the MM petrucci's ans Vinnie Moore musicman and while very good they can't hold a candle to the old Ibanez JPM 1 6 string. That thing was as good as a jem and the musicman to me is just like a supped up Peavey Wolfgang model. Just awkward and ordinary.If it wasn't for the great Dimarzios it would suck IMO. Other than that I agree completely

@squattingmachine Oh yeah... I actually had the chance to buy one back like 12 years ago. It was either that or a white Jem.  I ended up choosing the jem. And while I don't regret it, I still think about that guitar all the time. It was the same one from the Rock Discipline video. Had I known it was going to become such a "rare" guitar I would've bought that instead as the Jem is still very available. Even though my Jem is a '96 model.Not very available any longer.Both great guitars 4 sure

Nice, one of the best covers of this solo I've seen. I like what you did in abscence of a whammy bar. At around 00:11 you have a different note than the original, but it still goes with the armony, so if you did it on purpose it's ok. After all, playing note to note doesn't make much sense, adding something personal is always better (if you know what you're doing).

Yeah, when I started to study this solo (3 years ago), i played that variation at 0.11 and...i like it! So I've keep on to play in that way. I don't think that this little variation can compromise the whole execution! ;)

Absolutely amazing. The only two things I noticed that were different in the actual solo is the finger sweep tapping at 00:20, and that he uses the whammy bar at 00:56-00:58. I'm sure with how awesome you are though, you already noticed this and just changed the solo, which is awesome too. :)
