@TmuThe This one was a standard $109.00. I expected it to be more to be honest, considering its a special edition. I still think its a bit steep, but there's no other way to get it.
The Phase 3 paint scheme lasted for many long years from 1979 when it was introduced and lasted well into 1990s. I noticed some amfleet cars in Phase 3 running around after 2000! I remember seeing trains with three amtrak paint schemes inc. Phase 3, 4, and 5! Beach Grove was once owned by the New York Central Railroad and Amtrak got it in 1975 because they need a central maintenance facility rather than contracting with several different ones.
Amtrak specifically had Athearn not put the headlight glazing in as to more accurately represent the prototype. Amtrak has removed the headlight glazing on their P42s as to ease maintenance.
@MrBitbyter Yeah, I heard about that. Sadly I wasn't in the US at the time I could have seen it. Does anyone know if the heritage locomotives have now been repainted? Or will they stay in their current anniversary schemes?
@snoops702 Thanks! As far as I know, they're still available through the Amtrak Store. However, DO NOT go on eBay to get one - there's crafty buggers on there hoping to sell one for 2 or 3 times what they're worth.

They had a Amtrak 40th anniversary train tour that went all around the country, it was pretty cool; I think you would've enjoyed it
