  • I dedicate this song to Jeff Miles after 38 years & many miles. :)

  • Heard it on the plane for the first time and was amazed. What a beautiful song. This album is a classic,really...

  • holaaaaaaaaaaa

  • @lucia2108gim Usted debe ver el video de Bruce he subido a youtube llamado: Lift Me Up. Raros y canta muy bien!

  • Happy 62nd Birthday Bruce Springsteen!

  • The Boss hit #7 in Billboard, 10-20-84. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • I *Love It* This vieo "covers" it all. I Love the license plate. I just simply *Love it*

I feel so so very sorry for those 8 poor, ignorant, musically challenged empty souls.

    This song Rocks

  • ok who don't like this ...... will have a business with me ... Bruce is someone who had a vision to make the best rock and roll music without end . He worked on that dream and he's still working . Music is not fashion , so if someone listen Lady Gaga , Rihanna ,Biber he's blind for this great music . Open your eyes and see what is a pure gold....

  • Heard it on the aeroplane today and had to check it out as soon as I got back home.

  • YHey Ena, ill be in a little later. I have a dr's appt @ 10am. IokdiiiyHey Ena, ill be in a little later. I have a dr's appt @ 10am.

  • proof that song #1 is not always the best of the record

  • I'm looking for the EXTENDED MIX of this song which is excellant....does anyone have it?

If so, please let me know...

    Thanks, Cindy/Columbus, Ohio

  • This is Bruce Springsteen's best song. I really enjoy to listening to it. Thanks for posting

  • I SAW HIM IN 1984 IN NEWCASTLE AWESOME RAMSAY FAE EDINBURGH

  • first song i ever played in my car

  • love the guitar on this song

  • Oh yeaaah baby!! **

  • His voice is so sexy

  • Cover me + The River = Best Springsteen Songs EVER!

  • The Boss best song fucking ever! I

  • proof that not always song #1 of a record is the best one!

  • Brilliant!!!

  • The Boss!

  • 8 dislikes? What's the matter with those people?

  • @JORGEPSOUSA911 I know, it's like there's something wrong with their ears. (HOT VOICE) (HOT MAN) ;-) They should be arrested for lack of taste in great music in my opinion, or have an operation to get their ears fixed.

  • @JORGEPSOUSA911 I guess 8 people couldn't find a lover to cover them. :)

  • Billboard's #67 song of '84. Dunno why Bruce didn't make a promo vid of it. The Boss hit #2 rock, #7 pop, in Billboard. God bless!

  • Now this. is. it.

... or am I the only one to prefer this 'no frills', essential version to all the various live versions to be found on youtube, old or recent as they may be?

I mean, the song is somehow 'essential', straight to the core, the lyrics being simple, direct and hungry. And the aforementioned live versions all tend to spoil this simplicity by huge intros full of effects etc. or by speeding it up and sacrificing its 'chug-along' rhythm which works so well.

  • bruce isn't honestly that great of a musicain. however, he did have quite a few songs that i like. He was overrated i believe, but to each his own. Lennon quoted about bruce "god help bruce springsteen when they decide he is no longer a god"

  • @rocker4u123 Lennon is dead and Bruce is still considered a God!This is the truth!"

  • @rocker4u123 how much of his stuff have you listened to out of curiousity? do you not rate him as a songwriter/lyricist either or a live performer? interesting that lennon made that comment in 1980 well before bruce became a worldwide phenomenon in 1984/5. i actually think he is one of the few who has handled fame and fortune well. and he does it with charm. yes i am a fan and i hve met him so am subjective on it all, i hold my hand up!!

  • I was at Bed Bath & Beyond when I heard this song. It's probably been at least 20+ years since I first heard this song. Glad to "reunite" with it and will probably buy this on iTunes. :)

  • Its clear from the pictures that Bruce has favored a distinctive yellow and black electric guitar...has he ever spoken about this particular guitar and why over the years he has continued to use it specifically?

  • This is one of my most favorite song from Bruce! :D

  • CARIÑO COVER ME , COVER ME , ME ENCANTA ESTA CANCION LA TENGO GRABADA EN UNA CINTA CUANDO BRUCE EN LOS OCHENTA HIZO UN CONCIERTO EN BARCELONA Y LO PASARON TODO EL CONCIERTO POR LA RADIO SOY FAN DE EL DESDE HACE MAS DE 20 AÑOS LE ADORO , CILA

  • the boss,, bossing it

  • I love Bruce Springsteen. He could sang the phone book and i would love it he's one of the greatest artist in the states.

  • Pure dynamite! Great music to pump iron!

  • this is a true song .

  • Hit #2 rock, #7 pop in Billboard. Why was there no official promo vid made for this 1? God bless!

  • This song has something that these modern autotune shits are missing: balls! The real 80's deal, no modern shit!

  • Wicked song.

  • springsteen is the BOSS:)

  • Why didn't Bruce make a promo video for this 1?

  • GRANDISSIMO

  • *taps foot to the beat*

  • i AM looking for a lover who will come on in and cover me.

  • Honey !! it's our song!

  • This great song reached #7 in 1984. (U.S., Billboard)

  • (bobs head to the beat)

  • One of the best song of my generation. Easy listening and relaxing.

  • Relaxing?

    Best song?

    Really?

  • Brilliant song, me & the kids dance round the living room to it endlessly!

  • This song is my favourite of Bruce.

  • probably my fave also

  • fantastic!!!!!

  • im 14 and lovin this song!!! i like this one and dancing in the dark and born in the usa and tunnel of love

  • @h7hannah1995 you got great taste in music at your age, if only more youngsters would give music like this a chance:) peace.

  • This song makes me think of the romance of are not accepted by society.

  • Hi, thanks for this song. It makes me feel like moving my

booty. This is GREAT. He is really THE BOSS.

Bruce love you! Did you say you were looking for a lover who will into you??? Don't understand the lyrics.

  • it goes some of like this:

Well I'm looking for a lover who will come on in and cover me

Promise me baby you won't let them find us

Hold me in your arms, let's let our love blind us

Cover me, shut the door and cover me

Well I'm looking for a lover who will come on in and cover me

    and so on..........

  • @lovelysoul90 I totally agree with you

  • @lovelysoul90 Sometimes verses simply do not make sense but if you add music to it just works perfectly ... any way, i like the lyrics ;) ... I can understand it ;)

  • During the mid-1980s, the only other song as good as this one is "Union of the Snake" by Duran Duran

  • I've heard almost all of Bruce's songs, not a fan, but this song is marvelous...

Em to Bm, the bridge is just chills..

  • You should check out my other Bruce Springsteen Videos, especially "Lift Me Up"

You wouldn't think his voice could get that high!

    It's simply an amazing song.

  • @sailasimone dude if a high pitched voice impresses u, check out black metal or some power metal bands (Hansi Kursch of BG can do some high shit)

  • @matt72582 i agree with you . i dont like springsteen but this one is just heartbreaking

  • @matt72582 Check out 'Adam Raised a Cain' if you like this, it's on the Darkness on the Edge of Town CD. Or better still check out 'Murder Incorporated'....Bruce's guitar is great and the vocals are powerful - much like Cover Me.

  • @matt72582 I agree.

  • @matt72582 I love the chord progression. Minus the bridge it's a minor twelve bar blues.

  • My fav off born in the usa :)

  • Cover me kk :))

  • The best song of the boss :P

  • The Boss This Gets All The Cougars On The Dance Floor

  • i totally agree!!!

  • hahaha

i've seen enough i don't wanna see anymore..."

    timeless!!

  • I love my jeep.

  • Hot, hot song!! The vocal, the bass, the lyrics, the arrangement....all super, super all-time good! Still gives me a chill up my back to hear it!

  • Best song he ever did

  • The Boss.

  • does anyone know the name of the slow song he sanged in the episode of cold case on cbs?

  • Mr. Springsteen won an Academy Award for his contribution to the soundtrack of the 1993 film "Philadelphia," he rarely lends his music to television. "Cold Case" is an exception. The series, now in its third season, had used two Springsteen songs in earlier seasons: "Walk Like a Man" in its first and "Secret Garden" in its second.

  • great song:)love it:)

  • Great song, nice photos, the Boss rules!

  • great stuff.

  • nice song

  • This song kicks ass.

  • This great song reached #7 in 1984. I'm 43 but discovered "Cover Me" for the first time just this week. I had dropped out of all media during the mid to late 1980s, but heard this song last night while watching a movie since it is part of the soundtrack of the gay movie, "The Trip" from 2002.

  • Hey brother, I'm not quite as old as you, I'm 32, but I'm still a child of the '80's and I'm stunned that you isolated yourself from the greatness of the '80's. So musch great music and all around pop culture, one of the best decades ever in American pop culture. Curious, why did you shut yourself out? Was it a protest to the Reagan policies of the times or a drug related thing?

  • It was a huge religious kick, starting when I was a teenager in the Army -- I used to have 2000 45's from the 70s & early '80s, but then got involved in a strict Pentecostal cult for many years, no TV & no music except for gospel. Went to Bible college, & ended up getting married as a gay man, and had 2 kids! Went thru Mennonite, JW, and Adventist churches, but then wife died young, 5 mos preg.

  • So now I have had a BF for the last couple years who has been helping me discover the late '80s & 90s music & movies, & it's been real fun, like opening an amazing time capsule. (I am not very impressed by much '90s stuff yet, can you help??) I do like Whitney H & certain others from the '80s you can see in my faves, but I still think 1977 was the best year, ever, hands down...

  • This song doesn't sound sad; but it's terribly sad to me. It's amazing, one of my all time favourites, I haven't a choice but to hold it in such high regard, but man I want to go into tears hearing it. In 2004 it became a hysterically sad song. But beautiful =) Bruce is amazing.

  • does he look like bob dylan or is it just me ? this song is beautiful - i love the emotional 80's guitars solos reminiscent of gary moore timed with highly charged lyrics (it sounds so vibrant in these times of bland nihilisim - or am i just a child of the 80's?)ps: a bottle of wine or two doesn't help..... 'Boss' You Rock

  • yes, he does look like Bob Dylan, another great artist!!!

  • no, Bob looks like Bruce ;)

  • Best song he's done in my opinion.

rarely played on the radio,i've asked for it

    but im all ways blanked.

  • one of the radio stations I`m close to plays it a least twice a week.

  • i know what you mean.

it is hardly played on 96.1 or 104.5 here in Omaha

it is a rare but sadly forgotten classic that is whay better than most of his other stuff

  • Omaha...95.5 Sioux City was the station I was refering to....not too far away.

  • What did you think about "Radio Nowhere"? Did you like it? I think he should take all the ones I uploaded and put them all on 1 album, along with 10th Ave. Freezeout, Born to Run, and a few other good ones.

  • great song

  • One of the best songs of all time in my opinion. It was the song that made me decide to buy all his albums. I had listened to his greatest hits & loved it. I then said to myself if I heard any more of his music and liked it i'd buy his whole catalogue as I was thinking that maybe all his good songs were on the greatest hits and the rest might just be fillers.

Then one day I heard this on the radio and loved it. Went out and bought all his albums. Loved them all.

  • in my opinion, one of his top 5 songs

  • Rockn Roll

  • simply his best song!

  • actually , to my mind ,the only good song by springsteen !

  • Please click on the RED STARS above to give it a rating. Thank you!!!!!

  • gr8 song... it has fabulous tempo, sounds fresh everytime...

  • GREAT SONG

    TURISTMURAT-ALEMANYA
