  • this dude is awsome

  • The republicans of the then is not the republicans of now. The republicans in the now are on fucking pcp and have lost their minds. You cannot reason with crazy people. These people are rabid as holy fuck

  • Where's FDR when you need him.

  • Need to increase taxes need to cut back on programs. If the Republicans don't drop this refusal to increase taxes on the wealthy during a time of imminent danger to our economy they simply need to go. I never voted on party lines but I will never vote for a republican if this isn't solved

  • here is the truths

    1) we are not really in libya that much, maybe a few fighters, mostly europeans

    2) the war in iraq is mainly over, most the action is in afgahn, and thats fading too

    3) the middle east conflicts with the usa are cooling down,

    4) republicans and the GOP are stopping obama from saving us

  • Fuck the republicans. They want to break this country like Greece so that they can take more away from us and keep giving to their rich friends. How about riots in the streets all across the nation with the republicans as the targets. It's time for another American Revolution. If you know a republican, kick the shit out of the sonofabitch cause that's what they deserve. I mean this in the best possible way.

  • How many wars are we in? 4? 5? 6? You're pointing fingers at Republicans for the deficit? The Commander-in-Chief is a Democrat! He can bring them all home and instead, he's starting more wars!

  • @hodoprime

Obama in sending the troops home dumbass, the only active wars we're in is Afghanistan, and Iraq. But even in Iraq that war is basically over.

  • @MrSquaky Ya right. Keep having the audacity to hope that he'll be any different than Bush. Meanwhile, we have fresh wars in Libya, Yemen and Pakistan that Bush didn't start. We still have 100's of bases around the world. The budget debate could end today if he wanted it.

  • @hodoprime

We're not having war in Libya, are European allies are. Yemen? Nope no soldiers there, and Pakistan is are allies they helped us find Bin Laden. So yeah what are you talking about?

  • @MrSquaky I guess you're with the Obama administration in saying that as long as you don't put boots on the ground, it's not a war. Ya and Bill Clinton didn't have sexual relations with Monica Lewinsky because oral doesn't count as sex, haha. Back to my point, bombs and jet fuel aren't free. Obama is the Commander-in-Chief and has complete power to balance our budget simply by stopping all of this whatever you decide to call it.

  • @hodoprime

    So you're pint is what?

  • @MrSquaky Balance the budgets by cutting foreign militarism. 100% responsibility of the deficit lies on Obama.

  • @hodoprime

How is it his fault? Dumbass only congress is allowed to declare war, and they haven't declared war on anyone except Iraq and Afghanistan years ago. Obama has made plans to send home all troops from Afghanistan by the end of 2013. Retreating troops involves cutting foreign militarism, so what do you blame Obama for?

  • @MrSquaky

When did Pakistan help? They didn't even let Pakistan in on the raid.

  • Wow - you know the last i checked its the GOP that came up with a budget. Where is the democrats budget? What is your plan to cut spending you fucking moron?

  • ~*~*^President Obama, WE THE PEOPLE, ask that you call the Republicans' BLUFF on the debt ceiling issue. We ask that NO changes be made to MEDICARE & SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS. We ask for an END to CORPORATE WELFARE & CORPORATE TAX LOOP HOLES. We ask that you make use of the JUSTICE DEPARTRMENT. We ask that you PROSECUTE WALL STREET CRIMINALS & their REPUBLICAN ENABLERS.----NO MORE CONCESSIONS, NO MORE HALF MEASURES>> IT'S TIME TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT AND LET THE CHIPS FALL WHERE THEY MAY.

  • Here is a video that explains just how fiscally conservative Republican are -

    ShaneDK -

"Are Republicans Really for Smaller Government? "

    youtube . com / watch?v=pBavo8IIVCM

They talk a good game, but the Repubs simply do not deliver.

If you destroy the Middle Class, you destroy the country. How can they not see that?

  • In my opinion, the USA does not have a spending problem. Well, beyond needless and pointless wars. What it has is a revenue problem. A huge portion of the debt is cause by unfunded tax cuts.

As to taxes relative to GDP, how about taxes relative to income? How much actually income was earned and how much was paid in taxes.

Also, keep in mind, these things don't follow in prefect sync. Actions now, have consequences much later.

  • Congressional Reform Act of 2011 Postscript -

Maybe when Congress is on equal footing with the average citizen, they might have a little more sympathy.

  • Congressional Reform Act of 2011 Pt 3-

    6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

    7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/12. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen. Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.

  • @blueboyblue

invest ur future in harvard, and economics, could get you somewhere.

  • Congressional Reform Act of 2011 Pt 2-

    3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

    4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

    5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.Better yet, their health care will be Medicare.

  • Congressional Reform Act of 2011-

    1. No Tenure / No Pension. A Congressman collects a salary while in office& receives no pay when they are out of office.

    2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security.

All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, & Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

  • How about we pass this Law -

The Rich can never pay a smaller percentage of taxes than the average working class family.

It is unconscionable that the Rich pay a smaller real percentage than the middle class. But the tax codes, even in times of higher taxes, have always favored the rich.

Some will point to the total Dollar amount the rich pay in taxes, how presenting that as a percent of income?

  • @blueboyblue ding ding ding! That is PART of it. That is also on the right track. There is a complicated (intentionally, read LOOPHOLES) system involved so that it LOOKS like the super rich are paying MORE than everyone else. Your reduction isn't inaccurate though. I have a video of economics expert Robert Reich doing a 2 minute breakdown of American tax situation as the top video on my channel. The media is also to blame for giving a battlefield to the middle class war. It's all a game.

  • @TheOverpowered1

Excellent Video. The wealth of the rich has double, while real wages have remained stagnant, and even gone down. The top 400 wealthiest have 40% of all wealth and pay an average of 17% tax rate.

But I have a solution, sort of, more or less - more to come.

  • I would hope that every so often (like when your govt. is about to default on it's $14tn debt for example) voters (real American people, from all social classes) should come together. We are after all ONE nation. We are an awesome nation. Yes we make mistakes. Yes some of us are delusional. But, we are FAMILY. Our differences are blinding us. We want and we take more than we need. Why? Don't you believe in your ability as parents and teachers? We don't feel like a family. Why not?

  • A small critique, it's not all on the backs of the "middle" class it's people well below that too. I think Cenk should replace "middle" with "working".

  • I'll just say it flat out. We cannot have a reasonable dialogue with facts alone. WE NEED REASON! Reason is philosophy, NOT science alone. NOT fact alone. NOT politics alone. This is the method that gets it "integrated into a proper argument." But here's the whammy. THERE IS NO MONEY IN THAT, so no one does it. I'm suggesting we use reason. That is all.

  • If provable "facts" (which are obviously no more than "half-truths") are the only means to resolve a problem, we've screwed ourselves and our children out of the meaning of life (you're welcome Christians). We've screwed "the evolution of humanity" (you're welcome Darwinists) by assuming that our "facts" are more than half-truths. Every argument on this forum is a half-truth because it's goal is to prove someone else wrong. That's, of course, exactly what the super rich (top 1%) want us to do.

  • "The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law... shall not be questioned," reads the 14th Amendment.

Obama could just say "FUCK YOU!" and raise the ceiling without you anyway, and there's not a damn thing you could do about it McConnell, you turtle-faced freak of nature!

  • @MiHiVidz: No one is questioning the "validity", dummy. And no, Obama can't just raise the debt ceiling. Ahh.. poor wittle Democrats. They just can't agree to cut spending after spending more money than all past administrations ..... I guess Harry Reid's "Cowboy Poetry Festival" IS really important, in addition to the Billions Obama is giving to Corporate Executives for their personal bank accounts.

  • @2010GOP Read up on the Constitution, bud. The 14th Amendment (which was written by the Republicans of Lincoln's day, btw. OOO! That's gotta sting!)makes the budget ceiling itself unconstitutional!

And guess what else? Obama is a Constitutional scholar, so I'm sure he's studied this option inside and out and knows it's GOP-proof.

So, if the teanderthals want to to blackmail the United States, Obama can just say "You know what? I don't have to play this game of yours.".

    SUCK IT!

  • @MiHiVidz: MY GOD ~ you're an idiot. No wonder our country is on a downward spiral.

The 14th Amendment does not expressly give a President power over Congress, you nut. That was one person's opinion on the 14th Amendment & how to use it as a loophole. Congress holds the power & the purse-strings, not the President.

And guess what? I guess you weren't aware that many many people take Constitutional Law ... LMAO .. you think that's special? Hilarious

  • @2010GOP Uh huh. I'M the stupid one.

Just keep trying to blackmail the country you rightie-tighties. Unlike pinheads like Michelle Bachmann, Obama has actually studied the Constitution.

Don't expect the POTUS to back you up either. They're Constitutional Literalists, just the way you've always wanted 'em.

In the end, the GOP's corporate Masters will just order their goons in Congress to raise the ceiling. This is all just posing and shouting to impress the hillbilly retards back home.

  • @MiHiVidz: Do you ever even try to use your brain? What's your answer given that our current deficit is near $1.4 Trillion? Keep spending at the same levels or beyond & just continue to increase the deficit? Do you even understand what the deficit is? Is Harry Reid's "Cowboy Poetry Festival" really that important? Is Obama giving Corporate Executives money for their personal bank accounts that necessary?

As I said .. MANY have studied Constitutional Law .. LOL. You look like a fool....

  • @MiHiVidz: By the way, what happened with that massive stimulus that Obama sold 2 1/2 years ago? Wasn't it suppose to create a robust economy & isn't Mr Constitutional Scholar suppose to cut the deficit in 1/2?

USA Today, Feb 2009: "Now that his $787 billion stimulus bill is law, President Obama plans to spend this week promoting a budget plan designed to cut the federal in half".

LMAO ~ you might want to tell your hero that he's going in the wrong direction .... LOL

  • @2010GOP You mean the ATTEMPTED stimulus that was CASTRATED by the GOP so that it would be too weak to be effective? Yeah, thanks a lot for prolonging the recession, right wing fuckheads!

  • @MiHiVidz: Democrats not only had a majority but a near super-majority. Republicans couldn't castrate anything.

"President-elect Barack Obama confirmed to CNBC Wednesday that he plans to lay out a roughly $775 billion economic stimulus plan". (final number was $787 billion).

"President-elect Barack Obama called Thursday for quick passage of a stimulus plan that could create 3 million jobs and help lift the nation out of its most worrisome recession in generations." <--- LOL

  • @2010GOP There is no point trying to reason with a right winger like you. You just want to argue. STFU.

  • My source???

    CIA - Worldbook of FACTS.

  • "The global economic downturn, the sub-prime mortgage crisis, investment bank failures, falling home prices, and tight credit pushed the United States into a recession by mid-2008." Under BUSH!

"GDP contracted until the third quarter of 2009, making this the deepest and longest downturn since the Great Depression." Under BUSH!

"GDP contracted until the third quarter of 2009, making this the deepest and longest downturn since the Great Depression." Under BUSH!

  • @blueboyblue:

Whose bright idea was it to force the creation of risky loans? DEMOCRATS

Who deliberately ignored GSEs erroneous accounting & fought against legislation for more oversight? DEMOCRATS

Who warned that pushing exotic loans were risky to the economy & were called racists and not caring about the poor? REPUBLICANS

Who is on record 11 times warning the Senate Banking Committee to take action while Barney Frank, Maxine Waters & Chris Dodd said all was fine? BUSH! and Republicans

  • "Since 1975, practically all the gains in household income have gone to the top 20% of households."

"Long-term problems include inadequate investment in economic infrastructure, rapidly rising medical and pension costs of an aging population, sizable trade and budget deficits, and stagnation of family income in the lower economic groups."

  • Everyone has to contribute work and energy and "fairness" (see below). The problem seems to be that rich people are mad at the fact that when poor people give their fair share, it doesn't hurt them as bad as when the rich give "their fair share." This seems to raise the philosophical question of "what is fair?" Philosophy has nothing to do with money. Money can heavily influence the activity of philosophy. That is an imbalance.

  • It's so funny to notice so many intelligent concepts and facts being thrown around to "prove" a point. I admire the efforts of both 2010GOP and ismeme in this debate, but I'm having a problem. They both seem "the same" in my opinion. Are they both arguing with passion? check. Are they both using facts and evidence? check. Do they both think they're right and the other guy is wrong? check. That sounds like a metaphor for our middle class being distracted by their differences. Why is that?

  • Interesting read from BBC world news this week with this title:

Is the US in denial over its $14tn debt?

  • How about this? We go ahead and take our case to the people. We constantly use language like traitor, and elitist. We keep it up until mitch mcconnell is afraid of getting lynched. Then and only then we tone it down a little. I think the government should fear the people not the other way around.

  • Come on rich people. You're up to bat again. Look. You are appreciated. We appreciate your help with funding our country's education and public services. We really appreciate you and that is why we work at fast food restaurants for you. We change your tires. We fix your broken stuff! Please, help us out yet again. It might actually even be a good investment! :D

  • Cenk, you're a bad ass.

  • "Only the power of the people can save us. "

The underlying questions is, do the people have the will to stand up and take back government?

Sadly, I'm affraid that the people have become too much like mindless sheep, to really summon what it will take to get government back under control and in adherence to the Constitution.

It smells like Revolution to me. Sadly far too few have the will to revolution.

  • @blueboyblue Don't give up on people. If you give up on people, you've given up on yourself. That is, if you consider yourself a "person." Stay in the game!

  • I understand that Cenk doesn't like objectivity in the media, but the idea of interviewing someone to agree with you is....sort of a Fox tactic. And good for Ezra Klein that he got a word in edgewise

  • "lenin was certainly right, there is no more positive, subtle or surer means of destroying the existing basis of society than to debauch the currency.

by a continuing process of inflation, government can confiscate, secretly and unobserved, an important part of the wealth of the citizens.

the process engages all of the hidden forces of economics on the side of destruction, and does it in a manner that not one man in a million can diagnose."

    -john maynard keynes

    O-bot admin economic guru

  • Repub vs Demo is fake, its all new world order, its fake, its wwe wrestling, the demcracy is fake, its just like wwe wrestling, you can root for the "good guys" or the "bad guys", either way its all fake and pre determined, wake up. The tea party is even a fake 3rd party backed by billioanries and cia, to make it look like their could be a 3rd wrestler in the fake macth. Dont matter who you vote for in the fake elections, the middle class will have everything taken from them by the rich.

  • Never overestimate the idiocracy of the freedumb monkey.

  • Looking at these 2 idiots - Cenk and Ezra, I realize something: they are oblivious completely that their position is going to lead to the complete annihilation of economy in US via hyper inflationary inflation and complete loss of capital and jobs.

They know only 2 things: "tax the rich" and "spend via government".

They don't get that taxing the 'rich' doesn't work in mobile capital world and that gov't spends by inflation and capital, economy and eventual currency destruction.

    insane fools

  • @romanmir01 Why do you Republicans always claim that democrats are going to destroy this country. Always a disaster in the future. Reading to much into the bible I think.Always the end times huh.You really believe that little fucking spew you just spit out.You fucks are out there man.Fuck, are you really happy with the GOP? Fucking insane.Good luck buddy.

  • @nalani005 "Why do you Republicans always claim" - I don't know. I am not a republican.

"Reading to much into the bible I think" - I don't know. I am an atheist.

"Fuck, are you really happy with the GOP?" - no, that's why I left the continent and moved to a more libertarian place.

"Fucking insane.Good luck buddy." - thanks.

  • @romanmir01

I agree with you 100%, with the exception that liberals are not fools, they're desperate!

liberals have calculated that there are far more poor people than rich or high earners so by promising them government services and social programs they can maintain political power. When they see that spending will need to be cut substantially they see the Dem Party as losing viability, they could never get elected strictly on the merits of progressive ideology. It's fight or die

  • @genie0390 I disagree, I think they are genuinely stupid in terms of economics, otherwise they wouldn't be 'progressive' (whatever the hell that is.)

  • @romanmir01

I can't really disagree with you other than to say that progressives don't realize that to implement any social goal there is an economic price to pay which the nation must bear but they don't give a rat's ass about that. Just listen to Cenk. It's always about taxing the rich and the productive members of society! how about the term "fair share" of taxes but how does one determine what fair is?

  • @genie0390 How does one determine what "fair" is? Do people not know how to do that anymore? Just because you can't prove something with science doesn't mean you can't prove it at all. I guess WE SHOULD INVEST IN OUR YOUTH BY NOT CUTTING EDUCATION so they can become excited about the "humanity" subjects (which the jobs aren't very lucrative or available) instead of the "science" (which yield great fiscal rewards). CHECK MATE

  • @genie0390 By the way. That is the BEST question and the FAIREST question that has been raised on this "forum" so far. Thank you so much! :D

  • @genie0390 "fair share" usually means that you pay too little and I pay too much. There is nothing fair or good about taxing income at all, rather than taxing consumption and leisure.

  • 0:42 farted lol

  • These Democrates are allowing America to be turned into a money means 100% of everything. Are Americans so stupid this is acceptable, 80% are not rich and the rich still convince them to vote with them?

  • This is such irrelevant partisan bullshit! This is exactly what the 2 parties want us to be bickering about!

Eventually, we will not be able to borrow money from anyone and our social security checks simply won't buy anything.

  • Can we just not have a cocksucker in office for once? Is it impossible for a single straight-talker with the public interest in mind to recieve any position of power? I'm moving to Europe or Asia after I'm done with my schooling. This shit it getting ridiculous, and I've grown up having to watch all the pointless babble and arguments. And then the news agencies just sit and talk about it. Everyone just sits and talks about it. No one actually does anything.

  • @AmericanMuscleCarSS I hear you. But please, don't give up on them. Don't give up on America. The concept of America can be an analogy for a globalized world nation if we can realize that we're all humans. People aren't dumb, it's just that they are falling for the OLDEST trick in the book. They have been blinded by the fear and desire that our media caters to. People will wake up, but you should stay here and try to help out! Don't leave them behind! D:

  • @TheOverpowered1

    Your mom has AIDS.

  • @MasterfulInsane I'm sorry if you are for some reason mad at me... I have no idea who you are or who your mom is, but I feel sorry for you that she never taught you any manners. I don't have a "mom and dad." Nor do I have this bizarre Oedipus complex that many "mad" people like you seem to have. I am not a real person, that is to say, by your specific version of what you think reality is.

  • @TheOverpowered1

    You're a robot???

  • @MasterfulInsane I'm most definitely not "trollbait." I can assure you there. I guess I'm whatever you need me to be in order for you to not be so mad at me. :D But hey, enough about ME! Let's get back to the topic of taxes and media!

  • @TheOverpowered1

AIDS is just a construct of the mind, man. It's like, not even real. The man's just trying to keep us down and spin his web of lies. Don't listen to it, man. You gotta respect mother Ocean. Listen to her. She'll guide you, brah!

  • @MasterfulInsane Neither one of us has any idea what you are talking about. I can only question your motivation for saying something like that. I guess you want attention, like all the other "troll" personalities. Go ahead and troll all you want. But from what I know of troll lore, that they turn to stone when hit by the light of the sun. If that's over your head then... come out with me to the light and I will show you.

  • @TheOverpowered1

You got the better of this exchange, but I'll be back. I am troll.

  • Who wants to bet that Cenk, up close, smells like an Orangutang in 100 degree heat?

  • I really like this crap Cenk is feeding his zombies! He thinks that America and the tax resources belong to the 2 Parties, not the people! So, he thinks when the Dems give away something they (not the people) should get something in return? Negotiating on the peoples' budget is not at all like 2 businessmen negotiating to each get a benefit. The entire nation here has a huge spending problem that threatens America itself. You must cut spending and the hell with liberals "getting something back"

  • I'm an American that is disgusted with our feds behavior on both sides.... I am also frustrated by my fellow American brothers and sisters. I feel so bad for them that they are SUCH SUCKERS for money or "status" / "power." Capitalism has failed us and you can tell by our collective psyche. We need to change our MINDS... we don't need programs, we need a serious CHANGE. That has to start with the voters.

  • Social Security is insolvent because it is filled with IOU's from Congress, IOU's that Congress never intended to pay back. They used it as their own personal piggy bank, & now want the poorest most vulnerable people to suffer.

As to Meidcare, the largest expense in Medicare is Congresses meddling to stop competition & prevent negotiation. This was done by Congress to the harm of recipients, & to the benefit of care providers receiving Medicare payments.

    Fair competition would lower cost.

  • It is a simple as this, you simply can NOT cut your way out of debt, not without destroying the country.

The current debt is $800/mo for 30 yrs/ taxpayer, if you try to push that debt on the middle class you will literally bankrupt 70 to 80% of Americans.

The Rich benefited from the UNFUNDED tax cuts, and failed on their implied contract to use the money to raise the economy and create jobs. Consequently, the defaulted on the contract, and have to give the money back.

  • Keep voting Republican America! Keep voting these guys into power. When this country finally dies and the Republicans are standing there holding the smoking gun, you dumb fucks *(Americans) will be wondering why the Republicans lied to you. And they will say to you, "Hey, we lowered the deficit, we cut spending like you wanted, and we even lowered your taxes for you, so it's not OUR fault that your so stupid." Then they'll snicker at you dumb fucks *(Americans) and go, "SUCKERS!!!"

  • Boener sounds like a complete drunk!

  • MSNBC is such a neutral and unbiased news station.........

  • Serious Question: Are there any non-white members of the GOP besides Herman Cain?

  • They can raise taxes one everyone (except GE,Goldman sach's,Citibank,Friends of the administration,States they bribed with "exemptions" for votes on bad legislation, ect , ect. Meanwhile the people of america are loseing their jobs and cannot pay taxes. But by all means keep spending like drunken sailors on leave. Most american people have had to slow down their spending to SAVE money only to have the government want to take more to spend it on their "friends" on wall street and foriegn countrys

  • These liberals at MSNBC don't get it. All they know is what their superiors in congress tell them. They would like to control every aspect of every Americans life through their government regulations. They want to grow the government even bigger, even though that is the cause to the budget deficit. We spend more on government than we can afford. The only answer is to raise taxes to the point that people can not live.We should divide the country into 2 jurisdictions and see who prospers.

  • @DaBadInfluence92: Exactly! I WONDER WHICH SIDE: Businesses would run to? Illegals knowing they won't be asked for ID? Criminals knowing no one is armed?

Liberals can give all their money to their rulers & sit under the rainbow singing Kum-bah-yah. And they can keep their ignorant asses on their side too .... we'll have tight border security: No Libtards Allowed

  • The liberal agenda:......Raise taxes, spend money, love gays/lesbians, embrace blacks/mexicans, kill babies, control you and i.

  • People crack me the hell up! YEAH! Man, these right wingers are fuckin' funny, like the Onion News Network. Oh, and their foot soldiers are even funnier. They seriously have nothing better to do with their time than to troll away and belch out 'facts', 'polls' and 'statistics' thinking somehow everyone will buckle and scream HALLELUJAH! They come in here screaming 'you're a bunch of idiots for watching MSNBC, blah blah blah'. They only reinforce why I can't stand them- get a fucking life.

  • Democrats = BEND OVER PUSH MY STOOL IN

Like Canada's Liberal Party, Democrats have ZERO BRASS TACKS.

Stop taking it in the rear and show some GUMPTION for crying out loud...

  • Comment removed

  • @CarnardP Really? Because democrats like to make us all be stereotype welfare queens when the truth is we are no different from you. I am not going to be the democrat's fucking puppet so they can play the race card and use me as a minority for their own advantage.

  • The GOP will be surprised to see them loose alot of ground in the 2012 elections.

  • @DeepSouth16 No. That was George W. Bush's Daddy --- George H.W. Bush

    --and, TAXES WERE RAISED

  • @greatbroad: Yep ~ George HW Bush caved into the Democratic Congress to raise taxes & spending, the typical Democrat solution.

  • @2010GOP Um, did those tax hikes not help us out of a recession?

  • @whbon73: Um, no, it was related to curbing the deficit.

  • @2010GOP Uh-ha, and I suppose Bush's wartime tax cuts are unrelated to the current deficit.

  • @whbon73: Of course tax cuts aren't related to the current deficit. Aside from Democrats spending more in 4 years than ALL debt accumulated from George Washington thru Bill Clinton, Bush's tax cuts INCREASED revenue:

"From 2004 to 2007, federal tax revenues increased by $785 billion, the largest four-year increase in American history". Source: U.S. Treasury

  • @2010GOP Yep. Absolutely correct: THE NEW DEAL by the Democratic President

Republicans want to return to the 1920's where there is no help for any living person; just rich corporations

  • @greatbroad: LOL .. such ignorance

Treasury Secretary Henry Morgenthau, FDR ally, in 1939:

"We are spending more money than we have ever spent before and it does not work .. We have never made good on our promises .. I say after 8 years we have just as much unemployment as when we started .. and an enormous debt to boot .. The New Deal damaged the nation profoundly by deepening the depression. No repeats, thank you very much"

    Sound familiar?

By the way, no one owes anyone shit

  • @2010GOP Absolutely right you are!! That's why the US top marginal tax rate on millionaires and billionaires was raised to the highest rate of 91%. It was absolutely necessary.

And then, to top it all off, a Republican named Dwight Eisenhower threw this tax money at the country. Building Ike's new highway system. Republican Administration of Dwight -- threw money at the USA like there was NO TOMORROW: building schools like crazy in the 1950's, bridges, dams -- electrified rural areas...

  • @greatbroad We grew our way out of the 126% GDP to debt ratio after WWII :

When the wage differential between CEOs and lowest paid worker was 30 to 1

Today the average wage differential is between 600- 700 to the 1

-and, in some industries like health insurance industry, financial service industry, or the oil industry, it can be 40,000 or 50,000 to the 1.

This is why the top 1% richest own most of the wealth-- and a healthy democracy this is not.

  • @greatbroad

"We grew our way out of the 126% GDP to debt ratio after WWII :"

As you rightfully pointed out, we did this with a 90% tax rate on the super wealthy. (+$1,000,000)

Also note that some of the greatest Philanthropic organizations & foundations were founded during this period. The Super Rich choose to given the money to the benefit of the people rather than to the govt and taxes. Which is a very good thing, I say. Many of those foundations have grown in scope & wealth since then.

  • @greatbroad

Great president - Eisenhower. The first to warn us about the "Military-Industrial Complex" which today we simply call "Special Interest". He warned that these Interests would corrupt the govt, and HE WAS PAINFULLY RIGHT.

In modern government, the people are nothing but tiresome cattle meant to consume and know their place.

Even at the local level, the police have all but abandon the Constitution & Bill of Rights.

  • @blueboyblue I believe Eisenhower was the greatest Republican of the 20th Century. I was born when Ike was president. My parents didn't have a high school education. Worked in factories. Still were each able to buy their own house and pay it off in full. USA had the lifestyle which was the envy of the World: thanks to The New Deal and the wisdom of President Eisenhower, along with the progressive tax and regulated banking.

  • You tellem Cenk!, Tax the companies so more companies leave for 3rd world countries, maybe they'll all leave and we can get jobs at TYT as columist.

  • Cenk, who do you think funds the Democrats campaigns??? The rich, you fucking idiot. Obama's biggest contributor was GE how much in taxes did they pay last year? Zero, you asshole.

  • Umm, the Republicans left the talks because Biden wants to increase taxes on small businesses you fucking moron. Cenk, you're a lying SOB. You raise taxes on small businesses and you will destroy our economy.

  • @mardi06 Really? Biden wants to raise taxes on "small businesses", huh? You mean like the one my husband and I run ($150K turnover) like 98% of small businesses, or the one the Koch Bros run ($100 BILLION)? Because if it's like last time, only one company I mentioned will be paying more, and it won't be mine.

  • @ismeme: You must get your "news" from MSNBC

Timothy Geithner, June 23, 2011: "There is no alternative but to raise taxes on small businesses because otherwise you have to shrink the overall size of government programs —including federal education spending."

  • @2010GOP Is that supposed to be an answer to my question? Because it isn't.

  • @ismeme You need proof? Google it. I get so sick and tired of you people blaming the Republicans for tax bereaks for the wealthy and big corporations. If I'm not mistaken from 2007 to 2011 the Democrats controlled the House and the Senate and from 2009 to 2011 they controlled the House, the Senate and the White House. Did they put forth any measures to change the tax codes? I answer for you, NO! GE, one of Obama's biggest contributors, paid zero taxes last year. Get it?

  • @mardi06 no because anything they tried to do the gop filibustered, held up everthing, obstructionists, your an idiot.........

  • @jetbtkng Really? How about some examples of your claims.

  • @mardi06 In the 110th Congress of 2007-2008, with Republicans in the minority, there were a record 112 cloture votes. In the current session of Congress – the 111th – for all of 2009 and the first two months of 2010 the number already exceeds 40. how about them thar numbers, facts rebute fiction, now you've been educated..........

  • @jetbtkng You don't make any sense. A cloture vote is a vote to prevent a filibuster. It doesn't mean the Republicans were involved in a filibuster it just means te Democrats were trying to prevent one. There, now YOU'VE been educated.

  • @mardi06 Cloture is often a response to a filibuster threat - a form of obstruction the Repubs have used a record number of times in recent years and are still using. Personally I wish the Dems would call them on their bullshit and make them stand and deliver on those threats each and every time until the asshats tired of that particular obstruction tactic. But I'm under no illusions. We have two parties: Crooked and Complicit.

  • @mardi06 the gop fillbustered 65 times in 08, & there were 112 cloture votes in 07-08, also 09-10 cloture was used over 100 times, thats obstructionism like i stated ealier, again youve been educated.......

  • @mardi06 I am not going to argue you at all about how both parties are equally guilty in breaking our country. I don't think it's only the parties. It's the voters (and lack of voting in general) because the people are obsessed with the money game. The middle class is a buffer, and they are buying everything that gets sold to them. I agree somewhat with you, but anyone who uses the world "Google" as a verb sounds to me like they've "bought in" already.

  • @mardi06 I didn't ask for proof, my question was very specific and both you and 2010GOP have managed to avoid answering it.

  • Hey Cenk when your dead dick broke you don't have anything to negotiate with . What a fucking idiot .

  • WE THE PEOPLE: We've contributed enough to Social Security so that there is now a $2.6 TRILLION DOLLAR surplus & we'd like that money now.

GOP: Can't have it...we spent in on the Iraq War & now we want to penalize you more.

  • @DillonDee1 Just what and how much exactly did you contribute to the country ?

  • @imN0Ttheone -- i've served in the military, taken in foster children, & paid a ton of money in taxes.

    And you?

  • @imN0Ttheone How is expecting the money you put into retirement insurance to be there WHEN you retire "looking for a payday"? That's like saying using your health insurance is looking for a payday.

  • @DillonDee1 I haven't been able to pay as much in taxes as you because I didn't join the military, and didn't have any other opportunities. I got a bad education because public education in my town sucked. You sir truly are a hero! But, not everyone is a hero. Some people in this world just want to have a decent and moderate life without being totally awesome like you truly are! If what you say about yourself is true, how could anyone argue that you are a hero? A hero doesn't complain.

  • @TheOverpowered1 --

Every day is an opportunity to make a new happy ending

  • @DillonDee1 You are correct: "Every day is an opportunity to make a new happy ending." But I think it only works if everyone is walking the talk. All these comments on this topic are so angry. That just sounds like "middle class buffer" syndrome. How can we make for a happy ending if our fellow country men don't even know what happiness is? It's obvious to me that everyone is angry, both rich and poor. Our heroes (the rich) are complaining. The kids aren't motivated. We need new values.

  • @TheOverpowered1 -

The Corporations have taken over our government

Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, Abe Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt & Dwight Eisenhower

all warned us this disaster could happen.

IAnd now it's a fait accompli.

/And they have so much lobbying power there is absolutely no reversing it.

You can see that by the way the new budget is being writtten.

The NWO will be bringing the middle-class to its knees, but still happiness can be found in helping others.

  • @DillonDee1 I get a sense that you are wise in your age. But I am young and on fire. Look at the middle east. Look at the revolution over there. Let's look at America. If what you said about the "NWO" is true, then I can assure you there will be people willing to fight against it. I think the young world is watching and waiting to see if the feds prove you right. We want to see if they will act in self-preservation. Think about it. If you don't have anything, what have you got to lose?

  • @TheOverpowered1 -- Listening to Barack now & he's said "Corporate Jets" about 8 times.

So it's come down to that - Corporate Jets? - which they can get around anyway!

The rich will not sacrifice a bit - in fact Barack even mentioned a tax cut for them.

    This is total shit!!

  • @DillonDee1 Wow! It's pretty sad when people these days have to go LOOKING for morality and the only place to find an honest hint of it is a South Park episode... My problem is with "our worldview." We all know and live by the "rules of science." It governs the day, and rightfully so with all it's facts and numbers. The religious can't deal with that (they're right, there's MORE than just "facts" in this world), but the old religions are broken and are being used as middle class buffer.

  • Democrats in a hole try to escape hole by digging deeper, Republicans just have to wait and watch Obama bleed out, Jimmy Carter style...

  • Here's an idea for the budget: get the Pentagon to reimburse the $3.3 TRILLION it's lost and "can't account for" since 2001.

  • You underestimate the power of the Earth. We know what man's type of purification creates (the brown poor dying). What do you think MOTHER Earth's purification will look like to those whom are killing her??? The NEW blood of the lamn is out there; and it is an inner loving heart, all others will be lead to the pathway of the choice of death. There is no other way, but the path of light and love. She will get rid of us all if need be. "Blessed be the poor, for they shall inherit the Earth."

  • So the rich people don't want to "keep being drained to death by taxes"... Just keep in mind that you do still have to live in this country... and there may come a time when giving up a little more of your money for taxes might outweigh, say, the cost of installing a minefield in your front lawn to keep out the starving, radioactive poor people (who, by then will have nothing left to lose). have a fantastic day!

  • @TheOverpowered1 lol, no one is safe when the anvil of justice comes down on humanity. When we have to look ourselves in the mirror and accept everything we have done. Watch the video "HOME" < its free and its on youtuve, they say we have 10 years to change. I say 2 years, lol, but like they say its probably some where in between. You will eventually die because if you are cold hearted you have no place on the thin line of fate that is left for humanity. Earth is has room for HER children only.

  • @TheOverpowered1 Is your name Ed Schultz and do you work for MSNBC.

  • @chaumont20 No, I'm waaaay hotter than that guy. Also, no. I do not work for MSNBC. Why? Are they hiring?

  • TYT please stop stereotyping 'republicans' you bash republicans and give them a certain category. That is exactly what O'riely and Hannity the two Fox news stooges do with 'liberals' they stereotype them and give them a silly category. Why do people buy this BS, its just an endless war between two parties that are not all that different. Opt out of this false left/right paradigm, quite sad actually.

  • @Billywask Doesn't 'republicans' refer to the politicians in the GOP, while 'liberals' refers to both the politicians and normal voters on the other side? I still kinda agree with you though, american politics are getting far to polarized.

  • @Billywask

"TYT please stop stereotyping 'republicans' ..."

Cenk was a Republican ... until the Republicans went crazy. One of Regan's top economic advisers said as much. The dominant high profile Republicans today are wholly self-serving & irrational. There are Republican, who are sane & stable, that I would consider voting for, unfortunately they are not running.

The dominant figures into days Party are running it into the ground. In a couple election cycles, they will cease to exist.

  • @blueboyblue I am not backing the republican party. Infact a good amount of republicans in the party are what i like to call neo-conservatives. They act like a conservative but in reality they have unconstitutional policy and go into wars w/ out a thought.. Not only that but these neo-cons claim to support the constitution when they have supported unconstitutionality like 'patriot act' as well as the bombing of Libia which is ridiculous to claim is not an act of war.

  • @Billywask

"I am not backing the republican party. In fact ... what i like to call neo-conservatives."

Amen brother, you are preaching to the choir.

I have nothing against REAL Republicans, my brother is one, I'm an independent. But the corruption and insanity on both side of Congress has reach REVOLUTIONARY proportions.

The high profile Neo-Pseudo-Republicans are in serious need of mental help. They have completely lost the thread. They've abandoned the Constitution & the people.

  • @blueboyblue A Majority of democrats also support much of this unconstitutionality and blatant foreign policy. Its funny how TYT says republicans a dirty corrupt politicians for tax cuts, when a good chunk of democrats supported the wall street bailout as well as the banker bailout. Along with the support of the Federal Reserve central bank, and both patriot act and bombing of libya. Oh wait they both do it :O stop with this stupid left/right fight! They are in practicality the same party.

  • @Billywask

    I hate you.

  • @Billywask

"A Majority of democrats also support much of this unconstitutionality ,,, They are in practicality the same party."

Once again brother, you are preaching to the Choir. ALL branches of govt have become corrupted. SEC represent investment companies not interests of the People. FDA represents the Drug Companies, not the people. FAA - airlines, not the safety of passengers. FTC - corporations. Congress - special interests.

The interest of the people have been abandon by govt!!!

  • @blueboyblue very much so

  • when the top 1% of the country cover 40% of all gov't revenue, it's absurd to argue that they don't pay "their fair share"

  • @retownsend "when the top 1% of the country cover 40% of all gov't revenue, it's absurd to argue that they don't pay "their fair share"" This is a misleading representation of what's happening, which if appropriately grasped should scare Americans. As wages for the middle class have stagnated over the last 30 years, their income tax contributions have naturally diminished relative to the top earners. In fact the top 1% are paying a lower effective tax rate than the rest of us.
