Ah, what the radio announcer failed to say was that he started his internet station because he was forced off the air by CBS, but only after he won an age discrimination suit. Part of the agreement in the suit was that he would voluntarily step down from the air in three years, although CBS never let him tell his audience he was leaving, and so they woke up one morning without Hy Lit on the air and no explanation. Oh, executives.... don't you want to wring their necks?
@karinablacktie - You are right. I remember they kept cutting down his hours and then suddenly he was gone. IMO, that station now is so "slick" and plays mostly '70s songs. BORING. They had a treasure in Hy Lit but I guess they thought their audience was too "young and hip" to appreciate him.
Looking up at the old clock-a-roonie on the wall, it looks like it's time for Hyski to split the scene and leave it clean. I want to thank you for giving this position so much of your time. Let's say we do this again, say, tomorrow night, 6 - 10 in the PM. But in the meantime, in-between time, this is Hy Lit saying keep a cool paw. Live, love, laugh and be happy. Maintain your cool and be nobody's fool. Ya dig? Solid Ted, enough said. Stay tune for Frank X Feller on the flip side of news
Tears, a very Big loss to the music World...My condolences goes out to Hy Lit's family. I heard his son has a internet radio station. Does anyone have to site?
OMG...Hy Lit is gone??! This really hurts my heart, I grew up with Hy Lit..he was one of the Top memorable DJ's (and he had a Show I was dying to be on..well when you are 6 years old, everything looks big and grand! Wasn't his competition The Steel Pier Show at one point???) Sad to hear this, my condolences to his family and know that he influenced many to become future broadcasters and DJ's. Wow. Thanks for posting.
Class of '67, Upper Merion. I do remember listening to Hy Lit. He was a god! Does anyone remember who was the artist/band who did his theme song "A Night with Daddy G"? It was also known as "A Quarter to Three" by Gary US Bonds, but Hy Lit's theme was just all saxes and no vocals?
Hi there i am Hy Lit's grandson and i justed wanted to thank you all for your thoughtful comments and kind words about a wonderful and very special grandfather. If anybody has anything (any memorobilia) please as to be so kind as to email me. And can you please set people straight that his name was NEVER Hyman Litsky its was just Hyman A. Lit born in South Philly with three grandchildrean and an older sister a daughter and a son.

WIBG 990, God I miss those days and Hy Lit was the high light on the radio, may he rest in peace.

It's so funny to hear "wibbage." Guess when FM took over, making a word out of the call letters died out.

I believe "A Night With Daddy G (part 2)" was the instrumental/saxophone version. The group was the "Church Street Five".

I'm wondering if he had any association with WRNL in Richmond as I see you have one of their promos in your other videos.

RIP,we have lost a true pioneer. When you mention Philly radio, you immediately think of Hy Lit and Jerry Blavet, another icon.
