  • Voodoo is one of my ALL TIME favorite albums in my collection. TRULY a Masterpiece can't believe I've been playing it all these years and it still sounds like the 1st time whenever I play it. CAN NOT wait for the next album from D'Angelo and The Soulquarians. Gotta love PHILLY SOUL from every era.

  • His*

  • His tour starts in jan 2012 he's album is about 97 percent complete he has to turn it in 3 days before Xmas.

  • Dude just felt that shit too deep, and the demons draped him up for a bit. But remember, he was still pretty young offa dat album. He's back doing the damn thing, so either these current bitchass RnB fuckboys get their weight up or kick stones.

  • the fact that Jojo just tweeted this made my day. Finally a modern artist who knows what's up :)

  • what happened to this breda!?

  • What Eric Clapton said sums it up PERFECTLY. I adore, adore, adore this album. Come back to music, D'Angelo. I beg of you.

  • thanks so much for this! you are awesome! so is d'angelo!

  • @victorthepapi Soulquarians

  • this guy s a genius..but very conflicted..i couldnt imagine you growing up in that religious of a household and having to rely on sex to sell your music..thats gotta be crazy mental fkk

  • I enjoyed this very much, thanks for posting

  • the key word is progression

  • This is a cool behind the scenes for Voodoo. When is "James River " coming out?

  • DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

    HE IS MY...

  • One of the Best CD's ever made.

Your shit will stand the test of time D'Angelo.

  • sometimes I wonder... did he realized when he was doing this album that he was "just" doing one our probably the best album ever?

    DAWM!!!!!

10 YEARS LISTENING TO THIS AND IT STILL SOUNDS FRESH!!!

  • Spanish joint and on some days Left & Right (cos of the rapping) are the only songs i do not absolutely love from this album.

Mind you, the live version of Left & Right is the shit.

  • D'Angelo is gift 4rm God. I hope he can bless us with another album. I thnk he know how much his music affects our lives. I pray that we can get an album in 2010 because the world needs it.

  • trey songz who?????????????

  • genius country ass

  • ugh! he's so fucking amazing! ive been a fan since day one, brown sugar days! and i knew he was a genius the w his perfection then, you can hear it and IN EVERY SONG! ppl recognize when attention is paid to detail and when muthafukas (like the "artists" of today) bs shit.

  • is that Chad from the Neptunes w/ Chris Rock and Rick Ruben, while they're listening to One Mo'Gin?

  • it's recording engineer & record producer Russell Elevado.

He's the reason why Voodoo sounds so great (he only uses analog gear and he must have great ears too!) and he's worked with Badu,Common,The Roots,Nikka Costa,Keziah Jones,Zap Mama...and also Al Green,Roberta Flack...

Sound wise,he is THE shit !

  • Dope, I thought there was some sort of VA connection there. Thanks for the Info, I'll definitely look up Russell Elevado.

  • Best R&B/Soul album of the decade. A true masterpiece. Artists 20 years from now will be looking back to study Voodoo's greatness because it was ahead of our time.

  • Personally...I think he's a legend. He's such a perfectionist...he obsesses with his own music to the degree of delaying its release for years. He promised an album two years ago...and he's still delaying it because he can't let it go further tweaking it...

....legend he was and a legend he will always be.

  • @razi333 Agree..!

    VooDoo was perfect.. For me...

Still can put the album on and listen it non-stop...

  • Happy birthday, Voodoo!

  • this is an AMAZING album

  • thx for sharing!

  • I can't take much more...Is it all like this?

    LOL :D

  • if you ever happen to shock rick rubin or eric clapton with your talent... you know you're goooood :D

  • TO ME this is the best soul album of all times!

  • that shit feel good!!!!

  • Yes, he was sexy, but I mostly love him for his music. Guy is flava

I mean like when did everything go wrong. I just hope he finds his way.

  • Its so cool to see a man behind the genius. I have never seen this before and Im glad I did. Don't rush the flow with "james river" let it be as great as you want it D! I'll wait forever (Ive already waited 9 yrs!!)

  • haha im with you on that :) we still got the sugar and voodoo both classics to me.

  • legend!!

  • What a fucking TRAGIC GENIUS!!! VOODOO is one of my favorite albums of all time. Only 17,008??? Please, that is ridiculous.

  • Curtesy of wiki.lol

On March 1, 2000, Voodoo was certified platinum in sales by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), following sales in excess of over one million

  • lol @ 1:30

  • Where did you get this footage???!!?!?!? and The Root is my favorite joint on Voodoo

  • Comment removed

  • YESSS!! that

    song speaks to me

  • GODDAMMMNN......

  • I dont think D'angelo even realizes how much he is loved today purely for his music. He can take a shit on any r&b artist today eg. ChrisBrown, Usher even john legend! any of them because this guy has depth! He knows real music and he feels it! I could listen to this albulm everyday of my life but these guys today you listen to it a few times and throw it away because they are NOT REAL!!!!

  • U r sooo rite!

  • Amen to that

  • @irunfasta He Can Take On Guys In R&B But He Is Neo-Soul

  • @irunfasta amen!

  • @irunfasta When I was 10 years old, I thought that Usher had soul. 5 years later, I discovered Soulquarians. D'Angelo, Erykah Badu, etc. Enough said.

  • @snubbs741 Looool For real!!

  • @irunfasta damn, well put

  • Hardcore fackin' Genius

  • Wow! Where did they find this footage?

  • whats the song that starts at 4:26

  • each time a song is played in this video the name of it appears rite before it near the subtitles, but the name of that song is called The Root

  • The song is called "The Root" by D' Angelo off of the album Voodoo

  • GREATEST ALBUM EVER MADE HANDS DOWN!!!

    D'Angelo is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • THE BEST ALBUM IN MY HOUSE!!!

AND I'VE Listening to music a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time.

    Great GR8 post.

    (I'd not seen this insight..thanks)

  • voodoo...greatest album ever, so what else is there to say...

  • My favorite singer, songer writer, musician...

This guy is not someone normal this guy is a good of music!!!

  • so is D'Angelo in Ocha? (Santeria?) I see him with his elekes on and speaking to the santera about the orishas...had he already been in the religion or was he just learning at that time in Cuba? seems like he's "in tune" you know?

  • when i first heard D'Angelo's music it released me. the first song i ever heard from him was "Playa Playa" and it just released me. it is still my favorite song from him til this day!

  • damn son, Eric Clapton was blown away!!

  • What Country is this documentry In?

  • Havana, Cuba

  • so much for homeland security , one way to get back to africa, great place for music

  • anybody know if he still workin on the new album?

  • June 24, "The Best So Far" has some old, a few new songs on it and is a preliminary to his new album "James River", or whatever his goin' to name it......

  • lmfao @ him taking a dump n the nigga right there with the camera still by the door

  • Russell Elevado (sound engineer) about the new album (he turned D to Hendrix who realized his heroes (Prince, Sly, Parliament) were all influenced by Hendrix) : it will be a different album than voodoo, that much is definite. to me it's leaning more in a rock direction. like funkadelic meets the beatles or something. he hasn't given up his soul roots by any means, but he is growing and exploring a new genre. he's writing quite a bit of music on guitar rather than the keyboard this time as well.

  • I pray James River will have the effort, passion and soulfulness of Voodoo. I've listened to Voodoo more times than any other record - and I'm still receiving new vibes from it. It will be hard to come close to its predecessor but if the soul is to the bone, the creativity will shine through.

    SR

  • one mo gin is a great tune

i wonder why it isnt up already

    this is a urgent request

  • I agree....that's a seriously real song

  • This man is the truth. Can't wait until the new shit comes out.

  • I'm itchin like a fiend for new D'Angelo.

  • shiiiit. thought i was the only one lol

  • thank you very much for this :)

  • this is one of my favorite albums. I brought the EP essential cut on wax. I wanted to spin Spanish joint. Before you could just load it up in serato. Had to have the wax.

  • There won't be another album like this for a very long time.

Even D himself will find it difficult to surpass the ingenuity he had on Voodoo.

To me, really, Voodoo is the very definition of music itself. And it should be no less considered on par with great soul/funk legends of 60's and 70's.

  • WOW ...worked with CLAPTON this is a gret insight to one of the greatest pieces of work that which is VOODOO !!A MASTERPIECE
