As a post analysis, for Chris, you should never descend over top of a formation. Always fly down on level with everyone else and then move in horizontally. Also, there are much much better ways to get to a formation than flipping. Try a steep delta. Don't forget to anticipate the distance it takes you to slow down!!! Also, on exit, it helps to present to the wind in the right direction :).
