Technically, this video isn't the spillway; it's the tailwater of the Monroe Reservoir dam. At Lake Monroe,the spillway is down Valley Mission Rd. It looks like a big field between two sheer rock faces. You can see it on Google Maps sort of east of the tailwater and dam; it's a clear gap between the woods with a long path from the road to the lakeshore. Floodwaters would go over that through the woods into the stream directly west of the spillway.
yes i know. I did not live here at the time but I do know that an entire town an school and farms and homes were destroyed to put this in. Not on the scale of the Aswan Dam but still.......
Do you know how the lake was made? Look up the unknown town that was no more..... My ancestries gave up their land for this....... The Engineers came and said move.... I'm glad that people can enjoy it. Its just disturbing how government can make you move out of a place that your ancestries founded.........
you take 37 south until you get to the Harrodsburg exit. Follow the signs to the lake. The road itself will go over the causeway and then there is a road off of the causeway that takes you to a parking lot where you can fish from or walk around the spillway.
The last time we were there we were caught in a big storm and had to go across the lake to hardinridge to pull the boat on shore and horrible lighting all around our boat and my dad didn't want to pull off shore since we were in a pontoon and wen we docked at our site my bro and dad saw two tornadoes behind the boat on the lake.
too funny. Really, tho, the fishin is supposed to be great there. I just figure the fish are knocked silly by being plummeted through that pipe and people get an unfair advantage. did you see the one as big as a boxcar?
hey, i live in bloomington : ) me an my buds found a dozen HUGE fish at the bottom of the spillway during a flood. Atleast 4 - 5 feet long no joke at all, any lucky fisherman would know. So anyways, there tryn to get up the spillway (there not gettn anywhere) so my bud an me got a coat and a hammer and walked down there. He jumped on one of the fish and had him for a good 4sec but i didnt make it over in time to knock it out :(. True story. No joke. Good times- good times.

I know many people that have seen huge catfish down there and one of my friends almost caught what he said was a 40 pound carp
