which is not meant to demean the trashmen or this song or surf rock... but rather its goes to show Chuck Berry's genius and the accessibility and universality of his music... And the blues progression.... (back in the day all rock had the same progression, I-I-I-I-iv-iv-I-I-V-iv-I-I, so if all rock from this era sounds similar its really just because of that...)

I'm pretty sure Chuck Berry wrote and played Johnny B Goode.. his style of playing is SO idiosyncratic that its called the Chuck Berry Rythm.. and the fact is that most rock just after Chuck Berry (surf rock, thats the kind that came after) is HIGHLY influenced by him.... he was the king for all young musicians of that time... not everything sounds like everything my man but this definitely sounds like Johnny B Goode.. Hell even the vocal melodies are strikingly similar..

The nearness to "Johnny B. Goode" is unmistakeable and also intended if possible, because Chuck Berry for a lot of bands and interpreter served him of 50th and 60th which celebrated Rock'n'Roll as a model - nothing is however also to be argued against it, particularly as also the Beach Boys helped themselves "Dance dance dance" hard with him with. This does to the quality of the song no demolition - this is a simply first-class presented Rock 'n'Roll. Many thanks for uploadin' it from Germany.

there wernt many riffs back then. listen to chuck berry, then listen to the beach boys, they completely rip off him. chuck berry himself uses the intro to Johnny B. Goode in different keys multiple times
