  • The idea is it uses heat as fuel and blows cold air to cool you down.

    Would be cool if you could have a fan that selfregulated to the temperature, so that when it got to hot the fan would begin to use the heat as its source of fuel ;)...

  • Stirling engines rely on a difference in temperatures. They would still need an additional source of heat to operate to create that temperature difference.

  • Heat pumps can make that source for practically nothing.

    I know I heard of recent work in Japan were the pumps could reach an COP of 10 -12.
