  • Surf meets Mod -- a great amalgam of sound. Russell's keyboards are killer too. King tone -- all the way! Little Steven -- this one's for you (and your Underground Garage).

  • Too bad they hadn't thought up the pick slide yet, with all the fuzz on that guitar it would have sounded legendary at 0:45 with some delay and reverb on it.

  • I love the Ventures the best instrumental group ever.... However I'm still puzzled I've never seen them play on Video or live the Keyboard.. anybody knows anything about it......?

  • What about The Swingin' Creeper?

  • I had this on reel to reel which ran at a speed of 7 and a half inches. I swear at that speed it was CD quality back in the day

  • The Ventures were one of the fist groups if not the very first group to use fuzz tone. Their even made their own fuzz tone pedal that was very popular. David Allen and the Arrows used it and made it famous in biker movies. Allen also played a Mosrite guitar. On another subject, in my opinion, Mel Taylor was one of the greatest drummers that ever lived.

  • This is so BAD ASS!

  • I'm surprised Quentin Tarantino hasn't used this in a movie, yet.

  • Just amazing. Killer.

Ventures were all over the radio when I was growing up, but I missed this one.

Thanks for sharing. These old LPs are probably near impossible to find..

  • mel taylor is a fckn monster

  • This is still a very heavy sound today.

  • Now I see where Jerry Cantrell got some of his droning low string influence.

  • Red Rhodes made the Fuzzbox for Nokie... are we sure and confirmed that this was LEON RUSSELL??

  • @Corporations8MyBaby

sure sounds like him, but I had no idea! LOVE this!

  • A total favorite of mine... discovered it at 6 years old on an ollllld LP... and i was obsessed.

  • Punk rawk circa 1964.

  • I should really get some more of their stuff!

  • one of the first records I brought in 1964. Great LP

  • @wksufreshair I have all almost their albums and it's because of them i became a big fuzz fan. Then i heard Link Wray.

  • @AmericanPunkGarage - If I were ever to adopt a religion, it would be Link Wray-ity. This Ventures track captures that same swagger and menace. One of my favorites of all time.

  • @wksufreshair I had it too. Played the grooves off it.

  • sweet fuzz ;)
