I think the reason so many people spaz out about Pokephilia is that they instantly assume that it means they have sex. There is more to a couple than getting in each others pants D; There are even plenty of "normal" couples that no one wants to see or hear about them smexing. It doesn't mean the ship sucks, it means it's just innocent D;

The thing is, like everything, there will be someone out there who supports it *like that*, too. And people always like to characterize the whole fandom on the most extreme example. You know, ppl can ship it however they please, but that doesn't mean everyone does.

[There's actually a branch of Pokeshippers that think Ash & Misty are sibings and support the couple like that. There's probably a similar one for Pallet, since a lot of people think Ash's dad is Oak, but I haven't heard about them.]
