Omg stop pretending that muslims are being discriminated against at our uni. Just like christian groups, you don't have a right to have access to prayer rooms in a SECULAR university, it's a privelege, especially during exam time when academic learning takes precedence over superstitious beliefs!
So u dont have a college? Well there are more buddhists at unsw and they dont have one and aren't demanding one either. Australia is a secular country and the fewer religious colleges the better.
@vida0adventure It's not superstitious, firstly, and in Islam, we pray five (or three) times a day in order to have a constant connection with God, no matter where we are. It shouldn't be a privilege, but a right, to practice whatever faith you want, anywhere. By adding a prayer room to a college, it doesn't make it a religious college, it's just respectful to Muslims. Also, if any other faith wants to pray five times a day, then they should have every right to do so, like Muslims. So relax :)
Its clear.UNSW does not like to cater for its muslim students. By the way the land is CRAP!! Just another way to stall any progress. WE ARE NOT DUMB.Wake up UNSW
the proposed land is about 15-20minutes walk off campus.
there is so much potential in an islamic college to solve the problems faced by the muslims with regard to accommodation problems and even the friday prayer debacle every year.
it is quite clear to me that the unsw is ok with treating muslims as second class students, despite the millions of dollars they bring to it. the college is a win-win situation, but the university is not interested. why?

what about the village green?
why not there? plus you dont really need a roof or walls to perform prayers.
you can do it in the open.
