  • I am part of a new generation of foreigners who appreciate the small tienditas, even though it sounds like they are dwindling in numbers. I have been to the Yucatan and love Merida! I think most people are not aware of how these little shops are a part of the rich history and culture that makes Merida different. I do shop at little grocery stores when I am in Mexico as much as possible. Maybe there needs to be a marketing trend and strategy started so more folks will shop there?

  • Support small business no matter where you are in the world.

  • DonTacho's store, the last images shown in this video is closed now. I capture the last days of one of the oldest store in Santiago. I will miss you Sra. soco! At one time your store was one of the best known in the area. The postal service operated from that store. The tortas Don Tachito used to make were famous in the neighborhood.

  • One of my dreams is to have a colonial style home in the yucatan, I would certainly do business with the smaller shops. I do despise walmart. I don't shop there as it is if I can help it. I shop at the smaller shops, including a small mexican grocery store close to my home. They have the best tacos :D. They have an excellent butcher shop as well, and good prices. I would rather support a place like that.

  • Yucatecan mayan people are more hospitable than foreingners think, Is kind of shame that foreingners keep to themselves.

  • Tienditas won't around for too long with sam's club , walmart and other globlalization corporations opening all over yucatan.
