  • Hi, I'll admit, I am a big fan of heavy metal. Lamb of God, Pantera, Metallica - all that. But I love this song. Why? Because I have a taste in music, that's why.

  • i like so this song

  • As much as I love this song, My favorite will always be "Running up that hill"

  • This is my favourite to sing in the shower ;)

  • The Brontë sisters and Kate together, this must be Heaven.

  • strangely addictive

  • I still remember the very first time I heard this song. At first I was kind of like WTF, I did not seem to like her voice... but somehow it eventually grew on me... it's probably one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.

  • fantastic! i sing this in the shower, haha

  • the best music ever... it touches our soul

  • I love this song! I only wish that I could reach all the high notes! Hardest song to sing I think!

  • @MultiMissBecca its literally impossible for a male like me ;)

  • Tupac Ressurection brought me here

  • @hazardous1990 SAME!!!! hahah

  • Of course it's Kate Bush.

Do you not recognise her voice man?

No one on this planet can sing like that.

  • Comment removed

  • Is this Kate Bush? She hasn't this voice in the official clip.

  • No offense...but this song is sooo not good...but it does connect to the novel I guess :F

  • @MidnyteJ none taken, but have you read the novel???? Either read the novel again or listen to the song carfully (they even have lyrics if you need them) also these are HER thoughts to the novel, she's not retelling the story in her song. Listen/Read again.

  • I've heard many covers of this song. IT'S HARD TO SING

  • Comment removed

  • mooie song voor my to dance bit about us

  • lose* the fight

  • I'm now doing A-level english literature and had to read Withering Heights. I only just found out this song was based on Wuthering Heights because I didn't know the title or pay much attention to the lyrics. Now it creeps me the fuck out because I understand it all!

  • I am in heaven thx Kate....

  • When will anyone understand that the world is going the wrong way?i had enough of all hypocrit peolple.....there must be a world that is better than this world...

  • Goodbye world........too much to take......take me to the sky.

  • i think the lyrics are excellent...right in keeping with Emily Bronte herself. It's Kate's squeaking in the upper ranges that makes it sound kind of grating. But the printed lyrics are incorrect on two counts: 1) it is "LOSE the fight", not "loose". Why do so many people have trouble distinguishing between an adjective and a verb? 2) In the original lyrics, she sings "I'm come home now" not "come home now" NOR "I've come home now". These are Emily's words exactly, quaint tho it may sound now.

  • @kuantumfyzix lol

  • Merveilleuse chanson d'une histoire d'amour inmortelle!!!! one of my favourite books, so romantic!!! Le film avec sir Laurence Olivier, Merle Oberon et David Niven, un des meilleurs, et inmortel comme la chanson, MERCI!!!!!!

  • This song always get better when the rain falls..

  • kinda nice story - any Cathy´s here ?

  • A great love story!

  • its to high my ears are broken

  • is it mike oldfield on the guitar?

  • I am addicted to this song!!!

  • great voice! i love her!!!

  • best book ever

  • Coolest woman on the planet.

  • Adoro!

  • One of the beautiful songs I know

  • That is a great song. It reminds me so many things . Good memories, good times that will never come back.

  • Kate Heights - Wuthering Bush

  • Such a captivating, beautiful uber tune! gives me goose pimples everytime. Love it! :) x

  • Utterly spellbinding! Kate Bush draws you in like no other performer I can remember. Her voice, her look, .....Her EYES!!! I find it very difficult to

listen to any of her songs just once. And once I do, I find myself reliving it and dwelling on it. No other performer/artist does that to me!

  • Brilliant song!

  • NO ONE CAN SING IT LIKE KATE!!!

  • LOVE IT!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!CRY EVER TIME I HEAR IT!!BREAK MY HEART!!!!

  • I LOVE IT

  • What a version

  • pretty song <3

  • "I'm coming back love,cruel Heathcliff"...

When u read Bronte's masterpiece, both the book & this song are part of you.

  • First time in years I'd heard this song & it reduced me to tears!

    It's amazing!

  • @11011joe11011 O.O it sucks??

  • My all time favourite book and song xx

  • the woman on xfactor murdered this o-o only Kate Bush can sing this :D

  • @Green19Frog94 I so agree with you she is very unique and not just any average singer can pick up this music and start singing it. Someone very advanced and with great artistic abilities!

  • @DolphinInTheSunset You have just made one of the most intelligent remarks I've read on you-tube . 100% Right . You certainly wouldn't expect the likes of talentless wannabees like Chery Cole or that little girl ,Cher Lloyd to even attempt anything remotely artistically challenging . The unfortunate reality that good music be it rock,, classical ,or jazz is the least appreciated by the hoi palloi . Sad World.:(

  • just awesome!!!

Best song that ever was written!

  • Pity the words are inaccurate, brilliant song

  • @lynettekomidar are you drunk?

  • Having to put up with her voice just to get to the 'classic Guitar riff' is a serious burden!!! or was ....in those days! lol

  • I hate Catherine(1) in the book - she is so self pitying, its awful.

but the world Bronte creates is incredible and so passionate!

  • Delightfully crazy.

  • Great Kate!!!!

  • epic

  • when i listen to this all i can think of is noel fielding dressed uo as a woman on lets dance for comic relief :)

  • sounds like that woman tried to be UKs Brittany Spears in Xfactor

  • @coolchizHD well it is the song she was trying too sing ?

  • Fuck the X-Factor! This is real music!

  • Watching the ginger woman on the xfactor made me come here!

  • X factor!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @codownni lol lol i was watching as well that woman made me come and play this song.

    Funny show this season.

  • Noel Fielding dances so beautifully to this.

    ;D

  • I love Wuthering Heights. Its one of my favorite books. But this song has absolutely nothing to do with it...

  • @MakeItCount310247 I think the idea behind the song is Cathy singing to Heathcliff after her death. She says "Heathcliff, it's me Cathy come home now. I am cold... Oh it gets dark, it gets lonely on the other side from you..." That seems to imply she is a ghost, so I think the song makes sense. Would you say so? :-)

  • @ednaflima23

I quite agree with you. This is in fact stated at the beginning of the novel. Whoever is reading it or did watch one of the movies inspired by thw book knows what I'm talking about.

  • @ednaflima23 yea i guess... i mean its catchy i just got a different message from the book

  • 1 word... AWESOME!

  • The song is really briliant! It expresses wonderfully not only the atmosphere of the novel, but also the athmosphere of most of the Victorian books: fantastic but also captiving and hypnothic. You can imagine the plot of "Wuthering Heights" simply by listening closely to the lyrics of the song, without even reading the book.

  • this song just ruined the book for me.

  • @witchsaint I agree. I love the book but this song sucks

  • This song made me want to read the book. Sucha beautiful song :D

  • I loved the movie! Ralph Fiennes was a perfect Heathcliff!

  • I really don't think this song's style is at all fitting to the novel. The entire thing lacks the darkness and more morbid aspects that are really important to the story. IMO the characters of Wuthering Heights were all rather twisted or broken in their own ways. This just does not feel like it would be something coming from Cathy.

  • I was named after this book - I'm proud! <3

  • @KitkatUniversal really? , whats your name?

  • @werewolflover14 My first name is Catherine from the main character - Cathy! My middle name is Ellis - When Emily Bronte was starting to publish her writing she knew only men could publish so she wrote under a unisex name - Ellis! And my family call me Kate - ties in with Kate Bush! <3

  • @KitkatUniversal thats awesome!

  • @werewolflover14 Teehee thanks! :')

  • @KitkatUniversal Identity crisis every time you look in the mirror :D

  • @444grapes Haha too right! I love it though! <3

  • @KitkatUniversal reallly lol cant get betta than this my names heathcliff my mum name me after heathcliffe from emily brontes wuthering heights lol :)

  • great !!

  • chorus reminds me of free by natalia kills... -_-

  • Wuthering Heights is my favorite book of all time. Such a flood of emotions.

  • Whow this is so high

  • Surprised this hasn't been covered by some rap/techno artist tbh.

  • @casper123 - best cover by far so far . . .

Search - "The Ukulele Orchestra - Wuthering Heights"

  • I'm fifteen and my mom loves her.. now I know why.. she has one of the bests voices that I've ever heard.. she sings soft!!

  • This song has haunted me all my life.....

  • @Littlelambism I know what ya mean

  • Just beautiful.....love this song.

  • Magica canzone ispirata da uno dei più grandi romanzi che il genio letterario umano abbia mai prodotto. Emily Bronte vivrà per sempre nelle sue pagine stupende ed immortali.

  • I don't know... the song is so light while the book is so dark. I don't really feel the same emotions listening to the song that I felt reading the novel

  • @77sakunarusasu92

    DARK IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT.

Many ppl here would disagree with you - re the song not truly reflecting Brontë's novel's mood. (See earlier comments.)

And although I somehow sympathise with your comment, I can't imagine what such a song would sound like!

Whatever Kate's song is an absolute CLASSIC MASTERPIECE.

As a work of art it can STAND ON IT'S OWN, in my opinion.

It doesn't rely on the morbid novel for it's authenticity.

  • @duckbiter I agree her song is without doubt something else, something special. and I also actually DO like it, it just doesn't reflect my feelings on WH

  • @77sakunarusasu92 - as I said, I truly understand your feeling.

    respect

  • "Heathcliff, It's me, Cathy, I've come home, I'm so cold! Let me in a your window"

    So catchy

  • senzazioni ancestrali ....leggendo il libro e ascoltando la canzone un archetipo immortale amore odio passione

  • Questa canzone è meravigliosa e m'incanta sempre.

  • I hear this song every day!!!

  • I haven't read the book jet, but the song is amazing <3

  • pretty amazing...different version?..she sounds like she's singing in a cave, and i mean that in a good way...huge sound...a powerful song

  • @TheBlueCream - yeah this is the best version imo.

The earlier one with Kate's risible dance video is shorter.

I like Kate's weird ending to this one.

  • onde more thing... i love how this is back when POP STARS had a little bit of culture, and didn't spend theirs lives just partying and showing their asses on tv!! in fact, this is back when pop stars knew HOW TO READ!!! loool

  • *.* amazing.

i used to know this song before, but i never really cared much for it. Now that i've read the book and look it up, everything makes so much sense! the lyrics are p.e.r.f.e.c.t.

    <3

  • Love it when she calls heathcliff...like a bird singing to her lover

  • hmmmmmmmm.....im floating....away!

  • This was on Tupac's list of favorite songs when he was in High School :)

  • i find it surprising that this song only has 35 dislikes..

  • me and Murdoc Niccals FAV! =D

  • whaaaaaaaaaaaat book¨!!! ??????

  • @MrJeman95 Wuthering Heights, unless you were being sarcastic, in which case lol.

  • Hi,

Thanks for the posting. A great song. So is the book. I enjoy the classics and its one of the first which I've read.

  • Am I the only one who cries to this song because it reminds me of the book...brilliant song

  • @ukmetalbitch

I feel the same emotions when I listen to this beautiful song. Wuthering Heights is in absolute my favourit book.

  • Comment removed

  • @ukmetalbitch

you aren't the only one who cried when listen this song.

I remember the book, the sotry, the passion and I MUST cry for this...

  • @ukmetalbitch

    and brilliant book

  • I love this! I love reading the lyrics. It makes me want to read the book again!

  • I only like the chorus the rest of the song is creepy

  • Some things are better expressed without words. Check out the video response. The music written for the movie captures the mood brilliantly...w/o making people wanna blow their ears out. :p

  • This song is sick and weird and does zero justice to the story

  • GRAZIE!!!

  • I always think of this song as epitomizing teenage female romanticism. Record engineer Jon Kelly regretted not making the guitar solo louder in the mix.

  • I absolutely LOVE this book!

  • Am i the only one who thought it was David Gilmour playing the solo?

  • @marcingrochala1 No. Many people think / thought this. Probably due to Gilmour's professional association with Bush.

  • SEMPRE*****

  • The first time I heard this was Pat Benatar's cover on her LP In The Heat of the Night. I was thinking what the hell is she singing about? I was just a teen that liked to rock out, lol. Glad she covered it. Kate's voice sounds weird but in a good way. I like Pat's cover better which is understandable since PB was my idol when I was a teen so I am so admittedly bias. Cool vocals KB has.

  • ... Pertinent1 is hear you Special Ladies can marry outside of Islam no? ...

  • ... come home Miss Ninja ...

  • Απάντηση σε αυτό το βίντεο... My dear friend,if you've read the book,I'm sure you have misinterpreted the character of Cathy. She's just as tormented and hurt as Heathcliff. They are both victims of a society that thinks it's a sin to express oneself his/her feelings openly.

  • @KPTEEB My dear friend if you read the book,I'm sure you misinterpreted Cathy's character. She's just as tormented as he is,suppressing her feelings all along.Just try to read between the lines and you'll get there.

  • @johnnykf1 maybe, that was my impression of Cathy. She is all you claim but still a monster in a way and

she had some of the most beautiful ever lines ever

  • Thanks for the correction in the lyrics. There's also one more mistake when it says:...so cold let me enter YOUR window is the correct word and not:..so cold let enter-a-window.Thanks!

  • thanks for the correction,plus:...so cold, let enter your window is correct, not enter a window.

  • love it

  • what is wuthering?

  • que voz, que musica

  • IMO my favourite female voice in pop music. Lots can hit a note, but she has a unique quality that you don't get in anyone else.

  • Yes it is "I've come home"

  • Absolutely adore Kate. She is like a bard of Avon telling story through song. One of my favorite "Lets see what the new amp can really do"songs. This is the quality of music that started a lifelong pursuit of excellence in home audio that still runs strong !Not everyone is "So moved" and I understand and respect that but there is so much more on your CD,vinyl,FM,Internet radio or right here on youtube. You deserve to hear it ALL!!!!

  • this song is so hauntingly sad

  • The book ignites all the dormant depression and passion in me. I love it so much, more than any other piece of literature I have read yet.

  • Thanks for posting this, cutefoxy. It's louder than the other postings. I think this song captures and intensifies the emotion created by the book.

  • @SilkeH6 thanks

  • hahahaha we're reading this in honors english .. lmao .

  • Comment removed

  • I really want to see some heavy metal band cover this.

  • Um,can anyone pls enlighten me?WHO is Noel???

  • @KPTEEB Noel Fielding, a British comedian.

  • This updated version is better than the original. What she does with her voice at the end sends shivers...
