Day after day she heard illegal aliens tell her how they were cheating the U.S. Government to get money and free benefits. If we could buy into Medicare we'd save money over "employer provided" health insurance. Job benefits are figured in when employers decide what a position is worth. If a clerk is worth $50,000, benefits are deducted before the salary is paid. Employers should have to pay that money to employees who choose Medicare. It would then be taxed, resulting in more revenue for government. Medicare should get lowers prices for medications, etc. due to volume.

I live in Britain. We have the National Health Service and private healthcare if you can afford it. Most of western Europe has some sort of state healthcare and it's a beautiful thing. My son has a bad skin condition, and when I took him to my GP (general practitioner at my local doctor's surgery) he examines him and relays him to a specialist at the local hospital who diagnoses him and gives us a prescription.He is under 16 years old so EVERYTHING is free including the medicine! NHS is AMAZING!
By the way pensioners get their medicine free, children under 16 years old, those in full time education and those that are unemployed. If you are of working age and in employment you pay £7.20 (about $10) for your medicine and that is it. I have private healthcare through my employer but I still use the NHS. The principle of the NHS is something to aspire to, it's not perfect I must admit but do not be fooled whether you have cancer, diabetes or a broken bone, the NHS will treat you for FREE!

In the US, we are a country of more than 300 million and of that between 20 and 30 million are uninsured. This program will be so expensive that it would be far cheaper to just buy insurance for the uninsured outright. Where is the sense in that? You pay outrageous coverage because:
a) You probably don't receive work based health benefits
b) The uninsured are not mandated to buy insurance so when they get sick you end up paying for them regardless of Obamacare.
c) Health Insurance companies, similar to the banks are not here to help you, they are here to profit off of you.

Why do Am ericans go elsewhere for medical treatment? Because its cheaper that's why. If you needed an operation your insurance would not cover, but you could get it at a much cheaper price, wouldn't you get your operation in India or the UNited KIngdom? I would. In fact, in 2006 I needed an operation my insurance would not cover so I got treated in the United Kingdom. I'm fine now thanks to the Uk.

If we could buy into Medicare we'd save money over "employer provided" health insurance. Job benefits are figured in when employers decide what a position is worth. If a clerk is worth $50,000, benefits are deducted before the salary is paid. Employers should have to pay that money to employees who choose Medicare. It would then be taxed, resulting in more revenue for government. Medicare should get lowers prices for medications, etc. due to volume.

I live in Britain. We have the National Health Service and private healthcare if you can afford it. Most of western Europe has some sort of state healthcare and it's a beautiful thing. My son has a bad skin condition, and when I took him to my GP (general practitioner at my local doctor's surgery) he examines him and relays him to a specialist at the local hospital who diagnoses him and gives us a prescription.He is under 16 years old so EVERYTHING is free including the medicine! NHS is AMAZING!

By the way pensioners get their medicine free, children under 16 years old, those in full time education and those that are unemployed. If you are of working age and in employment you pay £7.20 (about $10) for your medicine and that is it. I have private healthcare through my employer but I still use the NHS. The principle of the NHS is something to aspire to, it's not perfect I must admit but do not be fooled whether you have cancer, diabetes or a broken bone, the NHS will treat you for FREE!

I sense that figure is greatly exaggerated but even assuming it is credible and correct, every person is free to purchase private healthcare/healthcare insurance so if you can afford it then do it. The fact is no-one in the UK has to sell their house to pay for treatments because they did not have insurance, or because the insurance company refused to pay out. Furthermore redistribution of wealth is a beautiful thing, I pay my taxes so others can get treatment for free as well as myself

It's not always about people not buying insurance out of laziness or being cheap....insurers often refuse cover if the person had previous illnesses for example. Sometimes the insurance companies find ways to reject claims so they don't payout, less payouts=more profit.Whereas doctors have a duty to their patients, insurance companies are only accountable to their shareholders who want profit.money over morality.on other occasions those in poverty really genuinely can't afford it!!

In the US, we are a country of more than 300 million and of that between 20 and 30 million are uninsured. This program will be so expensive that it would be far cheaper to just buy insurance for the uninsured outright. Where is the sense in that? Better to just modify the system we have to help uninsured. It might interest you to know that a recent poll of the insured showed 80 to 85% of the insured are happy with thier insurance. BTW nice to talk to someone thoughtfull here.

Look at the cause of riseing healthcare costs, could it be greed, cost of education, or a combination of both.? There are people who always find ways of scaming a system to their benefit.
