  • Owls appear many times in this. The sighting of an Owl is an omen.

  • Oh no

  • i was in Edmonton with good friends when Mr Martin said, "any one says any SHIT about the Doors..we walk! or something like that..it was a great show.....

  • i gotta hear this song twice every time...i am first nations Cree....i love it...

  • you can add the Trews to that list

  • jeff burrows, absolutely no argument the most underated drummer of all time.

  • One of the most under rated bands of all time

  • 3:31

  • these guys are back together!

  • I love this song an band. I find the music quite sexual hahaha not the lyrics but the sound

  • Apparently these lyrics are supposed to be representing 'Hamlet'. Hamlet's father being killed in the war, his uncle marrying his mother, Hamlet's rebuke of her for replacing his father etc.

  • This is what the Doors would have sounded like if they had any talent!!!

  • Re the doors thing. yes Jeff does look like Jim, but Jeff is a fantastic musician. His bands have a mystic guitar sound ... the doors were very heavily keyboard laced ... Doors did alot of happy stuff ... Tea Party ... not so much ... would these comparisons be made if Jeff had short blonde hair and was fat? I doubt it. Both amazing bands regardless ...

  • yes the doors comparison will always be there but i choose to say theyre the zeppelin of the 90's,november 15th in vancouver, see ya there!!

  • @doubleplay1919 zeppelin wow big call that

  • @Broski0078 The intro for Sister Awake has a lot of the newer Page/Plant middle Eastern vibe, I thought. But NO BAND on earth could have the Zeppelin chemistry. Nothing comes close.

  • This reminds me of Live's music video for 'I Alone'.

  • Thumbs up if this band is the VERY first thing you think of when you hear "the Tea Party" :)

  • This was SO my jam in 1992...sounds as good today as when I first heard it on CFNY!

  • TY ghs..

    Loved it..

Ppl will compare others to others and good luck with that those want to waste their time with that..

  • The guy can't help how he looks. Jim Morrison or Bert and Ernie, he is what he is. All things aside, the music is awesome.

  • Tea Party, Tragically Hip and Rush are the best Canadian bands of all time ma fuckas

  • @coltoneddy What about I Mother Earth?

  • @coltoneddy You forgot the Guess Who!

  • @coltoneddy Those are my top 3 as well.. in reverse order :)

  • @coltoneddy no three days grace??

  • @therevengeofficial haha good one

  • @coltoneddy devin townsend

  • @coltoneddy i disagree.

  • jim morrison? what the fk kind of drugs are u smoking

  • It's hard to not make Jim Morrison and Led Zeppelin comments. I really like Tea Party but come on now. The bassist even has the ridiculous John Paul Jones haircut from The Song Remains The Same concert! And as far as the Jim Morrison part, He looks and sings like him!

  • @elviszeppelin 100% agree.

  • i was front row at summer in the park in north bay ontario 2011! got an extra wristband signed by the band and gave Jeff martin a joint of OG KUSH! i hope he enjoyed it!

  • Jeff Martin is a quantum improvement on that drug-fucked wanker.

  • Led Doors.

  • Jimmy Morrison.

  • He's right...Ive been playing for thirty years and the attraction was the bands musicality. I didnt have to switch between LZ and doors albums..

  • this song is cool.. but it really doesn't go anywhere so it just becomes background at a point

  • This is the best song I've heard in ages. I can't believe I didn't know about them at the time. Absolute quality.

  • Guys, I'm sure the Doors comparisons are annoying for fans, but they did sound like a modern alternative version of The Doors. It's not just that he looks, sounds, and chooses to dress like Jim... their sound was VERY similar, especially in the beginning. I was a big fan of these first few albums when they came out but was irritated by how they handled being compared to The Doors, and not wanting to admit they were such an influence, which they clearly were. I thought it was disrespectful.

  • @RuinOrPeace Sometimes you are going to have similarities without intent and just because they didn't admit to being influenced by the Doors doesn't mean they actually were. You're irritation is somewhat silly and inconsequential.

  • @RuinOrPeace Maybe a bit. Cannot deny that. But they have soo many choices of sound they make the doors redunant. Some say Zepplin and doors crossbreed. I say nope. A whole sound their own. Not to mention lyrics. They are their own. Brillant at that!!!!

  • @RuinOrPeace I agree. Especially after watching several interviews with Jeff, it is annoying how he denies it.

  • @RuinOrPeace I heard that Jeff started out in a DOORS TRIBUTE band, so I'm not surprised he learned how to sing that way :)

  • @RuinOrPeace I found he looked alot like Jim in the videos, but in the interviews he looked way different. I had their albums and i found it was a rip off of the doors and led zepplin. I liked it tho....the drummer is amazing....I still think that!

  • Jim Morrison is alive and well !?

    lol

  • Got my Tea Party Indie cd signed tonight after the show in Sarnia. shame they didn't play any of their older stuff

  • To say that The Tea Party sound anything like The Doors is obviously a lame attempt at trolling or, more likely, an indication of grave stupidity.

  • @PetriSoul the music doesnt. but his voice and appearance does

  • gives me chills. everytime

  • Back again- I got troubles :)

  • @PYSCOPOMP no they are so addicting I am completely in love with them

  • I keep getting drunk and commenting. Anyone wanna meets me? i BUY TICKETS-YOU BUY SHROOMS?

  • @ZerkWilder Met him before, he's a gentleman.

Don't hate if you don't know.

  • @ZerkWilder No he is kewl and down to earth. Not ego driven.

  • so music really did exist

  • i find this song more inspirational than any other song ive heard in a long time

  • ive always said the tea party were the led zeppelin of the 90's,anyone who doesnt like them is a misguided soul

  • Does anyone know what the inspiration behind this song being written was, or what it's about?? Thanks:).

  • An amazing song...just amazing! my heart changes every time i hear it!

  • Danzig? lol!!

  • OK instead of making the usual Doors/Morrisson comparisons i will say this instead: I haven't seen anyone using a violin bow on guitar since Jimmy Page on the song Moby Dick. Happy? lol This song made me sit up and take notice of this most excellent band back in '93 before their US album release, god bless detroit and windsor ontario for playing this on radio for both countries to enjoy together! I eagerly awaited every album release these guys had, and was not happy when they did break up.

  • well the thing is that jeff is still alive and making great music

  • Comment removed

  • @andyabomb Jim Morrison was a famous poet and singer in a famous band called The Doors which was named after The Doors of Perception. The band was formed in 1965 and continued until the singer's mysterious death in 1971.

  • nobody else like this video, it's better now than it would be with more ;)

  • Perfect song!

  • Wow He Kinda looks like jim Morrison

  • @Erey15 looks like him just with 10X the musical talent.

  • @Erey15 Jim Morrison was a drug addict looser who did the world a favor by killing himself... as for the Doors, they can go smoke pole

  • loser

  • @MrGrantNZ loser

  • This song is pure genius.

  • 4:25!

  • yah the Jim Morrison shit is lame- give the guy a break!...I just saw him play with his new band tonight at a small club and it was fuckin awesome! nobody can be Morrison....but he was great an awesome live singer and his musicianship playing like 10 different guitars - using the viola like jimmy page ..it was a great show!

  • @sexxyjeff Going to see him play a small venue tonight. I can't wait man.

  • I love this band so much. One of my all time favourites. There isn't one Tea Party song I dislike.

  • how to play this song on drums:

    1. learn

    2. play

    3. sew arms back on

  • Does anyone know if this band has any heavier songs like the ones that Stuart Chatwood did for Prince of Persia Warrior Within?

  • @IcyOne4884 check out the tunes in the suggestions box, "fire in the head" is a heavier song that was commercially successful, not sure if it's what you have in mind though :)

  • Truly EPIC !!!!!!!! The Tea Party kick tits .

  • I will go so far away...i will always love tea party, but they knew

  • I actually get a physical response when I hear this amazing, amazing band. I have and always will love them.. :)

  • to think back in the day, Creed used to open up for The Tea Party!

  • this brings back good memories. A band that can really play with a celtic feel

  • @carorachel6 I find that they sound more middle eastern then celtic.

  • @yoyomasta47

Ya, some of their songs, most notably Innana, are based around old sumerian myths. The goddess Innana decended into the underworld. This was the founding myth for the green god Persephone, I believe.

  • I seen these guys awile back, in Seattle, Wa..was a wonderful show. And this gal, I cant remember her name, but she came out with a violin..her and Tea Party, were friggin awsome.

  • Probably an Alice in Wonderland thing.

  • what a random name for this band... just sayin lol

  • he has great hair

  • PERFECTION !!!! No more words ...! Just Perfect !

  • This song's lyrics remind me of Hamlet.

  • Saw these guys in Burlington, VT late '90's and some asshole cracked a beer bottle over my melon. So, I turned around, punched him, knocked him down, kicked him in the face, cleaned up my laceration, and went back to finish enjoying the show. That show was off the hook. Someone passed Jeff a joint, he lit it up, took a couple tokes and I got 2nd crowd toke. Miss these guys!

  • @vtfm you couldnt forget that day if you tried, thats what makes bands that much better, when u have an epic expierence that is almost shared with them in some way, ive seen em live at london fair, i wont forget that night

  • I thought Jimmy Page had a copyright on the violin bow/electric guitar thing......

  • @strangeuniverse1 Jimmy Page, tried to copyright each note he plucked...when I heard about that, I lost all interest in Led Zep.

  • @Behelros i don't see why page would even try to copyright each note he plucked. they started out playing covers after all.

  • @GandalfDaBlack Research it. :)

  • @Behelros I've tried searching. Nothing. If you got some search tags I'm all ears.

  • Is it possible to have a Tea Party video without some bonehead making some STUPID Jim Morrison remark??

  • @Teeebs No, because 90% of people are morons and love pointing out the obvious, thinking they are funny and original and the first ones to do it. Kinda like how almost every video has either a comment about Justin Beiber or the amount of dislikes a video has. Then you get that real winner that makes that "Justin Bieber disliked this video 4 times" comment.

  • @Teeebs at least it wasnt about Justin Bieber...so I dont really care if they mention Jim Morrison lmao!!!!!!

  • @Teeebs No

  • @Teeebs so true! been seeing comments on every one of them LOL

  • @Teeebs You mean like you just did?

  • @ChillingInAFire.....nope, was just commenting on a few people who were near the top of the comment section, when I made this post like 5 MONTHS ago....lol

  • Jim Morrison was a fucking idiot. Jeff Martin looks so much better than Jim Dumbison.

  • @0n1n3 Well, if your discription of idiot is: Kickass awesome rebel, then yeah

  • @Teeebs yes .. but unlikely, since the physical and vocal resemblance IS remarkable.

That said, I could care less if Jeff was the frikkin Hunchback of Notre Dame. Guy IS a musical beast.

  • @Teeebs What's so bad about being compared to Mr. Mojorisin? The Tea Party were incredible in their own unique way, any true fan would know this...Being put up there with The Doors is just a bonus.

  • @Teeebs Probably not, since everyone wants the public to believe that Jeff Martin is either one of Jim Morrison's bastard child's or he is a reincarnation of JIm Morrison.

  • @Teeebs If maybe they hadn't gone out of their way to emulate everything about the Doors they could I don't think it would be an issue.

  • @rrtodd95 To compare TTP to the doors is like comparing peanut butter to jelly.

  • @PYSCOPOMP

What you're saying is you would like a sandwhich with both TTP and The Doors in it? Because I would

  • @Teeebs Then again the comparison is valid, if over-played.

  • @Teeebs What about you?

  • @Teeebs First of all, Jim Morrison and stupid are mutually exclusive words. Second of all, the lead singer does really look like Jim Morrison. Hell, this song even sounds like the Doors...

  • @Teeebs JIM MORRISON FTW!!!

  • Jim Morrison faked his death, wanted to do solo work, hahaha.

  • he looks totally like JIM MORISSON

  • @thenovascotia20 WTF? Dude, this is the MUSIC GROUP The Tea Party, not the political party. And yes..THANK GOD you are not a citizen of my country, you are an idiot.

  • @thenovascotia20 Why post yr political drivel here for fucks sake. Go somewhere else

  • @thenovascotia20 My god... do you actually look at the places you post messages or are you simply a raving lunatic? This is a MUSIC BAND. THEY PLAY MUSIC. THEY ARE NOT IN POLITICS. THEY HAVE AS MUCH TO DO WITH POLITICS AS YOU HAVE TO DO WITH REASONED THOUGHT. DO YOU ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT MUSIC IS? DO YOU KNOW WHAT I AM SAYING?????? AND FOR GODS SAKE, STOP TYPING EVERYTHING YOU SAY IN capitols.....

  • @thenovascotia20 shut your piehole this is THE BAND THE TEA PARTY moron!

  • This band splitting up was the most emotional moment of my life.

    I cried.

  • phenomenal voice

  • @bylevy

    and band....

  • @bylevy

What do you like about it? Not trying to be a dick, I'm just putting a band together and want to know what you think makes him a good singer

  • Damn Jim Morrison has aged well.

  • i just love this video..one of my favorites of all time !

  • awesome video!!! i just love it!!!!!

  • They are depressed and crying out for help! I'll pray for you!

  • as a canadian i am proud this band came from canada i was raised on these guys by far best band from canada

  • fu#kin amazing song

  • I'm sure all of you have though this but I want to say it anyway, I really like this song so I think I will click "like" because I went out of my way to watch/listen to it. If the "thumbs up or thumbs down" portion of youtube really was a systems of quality only based on what the viewer likes, why would anyone go out of their way to willingly view something they know they wouldn't like? Also, who would look up a vid they wanted to see and then "click" thumbs down? Sorry if I waisted your time..

  • I don't know if I'd call it stealing. Songs have been remixed and redone for ages. After all they say that imitation is the best form of flattery, and why not keep the old classics and styles alive. Personally I usually like the originals, but hey whatever works. People obviously like them. To each his own. This is a great song.

  • Easily one of my fav songs from them.

  • Never noticed how absolutely rocksteady that drummer is, especially in that moment there when he's doin' triplets on the snare. Skin sounds a bit 'poppy', but whew, is this guy cookin' the whole time. Stellar musicianship!

  • wooooooooooo ! Amazing band !

    !!! Perfection here !!!

  • So ummm, the cake is a lie?

  • omg i had the idea of using a violin bow on my guitar in music one time , now that i've seen it , i think next music lesson i'm gonna experiment a bit =P

  • great band!!!!

  • amazing drums

  • Orgasm for my ears!

  • They still sound soooooo good even though this stuff is getting old already......what a great band!

  • @jojow1000 that is because they have good taste in who they steal from and can deliver it

  • @metrakos Who did they steal from?!?! Is there an even better band that I don't know about?!?!?!?!

  • @jojow1000 First, I am not knocking Tea Part for stealing. Great artists steal, good artists borrow. However, Jeff Martin's whole guitar style with the bow and open tunings is heavily stolen from people like Jimmy Page and Joni Mitchell. Also, his vocal style in terms of phrasing, tone, diction is totally Jim Morrison. Listen to the live Doors album 'absolutely live.'

  • This guy could have played the Jim Morrison role in the Doors movie...

  • @fallof68 weird. the whole time I watched this I kept thinking jim morrison..

  • ooh please Mr. Jeff Martin, go and reunite The Tea Party, don't be so selfish!!!

  • They broke up 5 years ago and it still hurts...

  • i have never seen a guitar played like that before...

  • @dekrooner Jimmy page of Led Zepplin did it alot, got some crazy sounds out of using it!

  • @dekrooner check out Jimmy Page

  • is there anyway someone can post gyroscope? i absolutely love that song and havent heard it in at least 12 years!....i cant seem to find it anywhere!

  • great song by a great band!! was lucky enough to see one of their shows and it blew my mind!!

  • maybe they'll come back sometimes...

  • what a great band, truly incredible

  • All I can say is WOW! This is the first time I've heard this song and I love it, love it, love it! It's amazing!

  • saw these guys in Kelowna small venue - think it was either their last show or one of their last, and this song is by far their most profound. Miss 'em

  • were are the amps lol

  • Saw Jeff Martin live about 5 hours ago, was a incredible show, the way he plays the 12 string is bloody ridiculous! He also said he's going on Hiatus for a small while to work on a new album, so keep an eye out for it ;)

Saw him at the Hi-Fi in Brisbane, played a song in commemoration of ANZAC day for Australia. Was also kind of funny cause' we were standing at the door to get in and he comes and stands next to us and we're like "Hey Jeff!" - lost for words after that :(

  • @Kugar was there too mate! Great show!

  • Amazing for my ears !!!!!! Want more ! Please come back i miss you soooooooo !

  • He's Jim's bastard, you knobs!

  • @FIERO871 oh wow so intuitive. What is your secret?

  • Dudes got kind of a Mark Lanegan thing goin on. . . i'm diggin it

  • Allways good to find musicians taking rock in new directions. I saw Martin's new band the Armada at Womadelaide in March. They played at least 3 Tea Party songs including "the Grand Bazaar", "Sister Awake" and "Save Me' with the Beatles TNK (tomorrow never knows) in the middle. Martin played a selection of acoustic guitars. Drummer Wayne Sheehy stands before an array of congas, doumbek, bongos, djembes, snare, bohran, bass drum; and an array of cymbals.

    Great stuff.......

  • This band sometimes reminds me of The Doors lol, great stuff!

  • @theemceemurdah My thoughts exactly! Jeff Martin seems to be channeling Jim Morrison!

  • Good images - its a new band to me - shame it appears they've disbanded.. will need to do a bit of research.... luv it

  • Yeah,it is ashame,theyre an awesome band.Extremely talented!!!

  • Jeff Martin, the lead singer, still does lots of solo shows and he also has a new band called the Armada.
