Wow, haven't heard this song since someone ripped off this single from my house in 1975 (or around that time) Can't believe I still remember most of the words. A clasique is a clasique.......
Great song my senior year in High school. The words seem to flow with the time and moment, later that year I was drafted and sent to Vietnam. My girlfriend dropped me off at induction center and another song was playing,"leaving on a jet plane" So many emotionaly charged songs back then. The songs really take me back.
@MrSgtSniper I am of the same age and all these songs bring back the memories of a time when we were going off to serve and we had girlfriends back home and hoped they would wait for us.
I was 14 when this song was new, Loved it then and love it now .I am stuck in the 60s and 70s thank god for satilite radio ,I still get suprised when a great oldie like this one comes up i am not the only BG
I had this on a 45, used to drive my older sister nuts overplaying it! Was just killing my brain trying to remember the band name. Kept thinking "Burning Ember" instead of "Flaming." What year was this song? '69? '70?
The beginning of this song has always reminded me of "Celebrate" by Three Dog Night. Similar keyboard riff, cold start with no intro, same era too......
the keyboard player is my Uncle Bill Ellis who now lives in Tennessee. They were a great band and I was only 10 years old when they were famous. I was so proud too tell all my friends the keyboard player was my Uncle. He even signed an autograph too me too prove too my friends he was my uncle.
@321pattyann Please tell your uncle a very heartfelt "Thank you!" for sharing his talents and giving us such wonderful music as this. It has held up beautifully!
I love this song so much, I could hear it over and over again for the rest of eternity and never get tired of it. I can't believe it wasn't a bigger hit than it was. The lyrics, and how it builds up at the end, underscores the beautiful message being sent. I'm so glad to see that someone else recently appreciated this song enough to post it. Thank you!
@charlie8575 .....these guys were great...you should listen to " i'm not my brothers keeper" , "shades of green" , and "sunshine" by them ...very nice...enjoy

This song should have been a top 5 hit. Should still be played on oldies stations. what an early 70s typical sound this great song evokes!
