So wonderfully moving...Synthesizers and drum machines can create moving music too people! It doesn't all have to be some douche with an acoustic guitar.
I thought as a lot said they knew there was another version other than the album version I'd give them a treat. Direct off the original vinyl it's the B Side to the Trees and Flowers 7". NAD turntable, Ortofon cartridge, Sony Amp and Marantz Graphic.. dug the vinyl out the cupboard and Hey Presto! Bob's your aunty's live in lover. SS the way they were before the technology crept on the album. I made the video from my scans of my Fan Club stuff I had. *See my page *
The original version of this beautiful song was the original B-side to their debut single, 'Trees and flowers', a paean to the misery of agoraphobia [which I believe Rose McDowell suffered from], and was so different it is almost another song. Still a thing of sweet beauty, but not a patch on this version. Delicious.
they were the best. totally original vocals, lyrics, music. another of those apocryphal albums, where every song is great, and you remeber where you were when you heard it--even if you were approximately four, and you mainly liked looking at the cover...
@nikitakontiki Sharing a small memory are we??? But yes, I do agree with your thoughts exactly, I recently discovered them and my only regret is that I wasn't even alive when they were popular. So sad
This song is pretty amazing...so beautiful. Hearing this makes me feel that it is a shame that Strawberry Switchblade's entry into the book of music wasn't a very long one - considering about 90% of the book is completely uninteresting.
@SINthetikTerror this song is stunning, the majority of this album is amazing, they beat the dream pop/shoegazers to the punch, and did it with a pre-saint etienne style to boot, just incredible, this song is great.
I LOVE YOU ROSE & JILL I love your songs our voices your souls your honesty your beauty

A kick in the toches from an old friend corrected me. It was Jill Bryson who suffers from agoraphobia. I stand corrected. 8-)
