  • Tommy, this is the Big Giant Head, no more lucid dreaming.

  • You want mindfreak? I don't levitate a couple inches off the ground like Chris Angel. I kick people's ass running on the ceiling

  • What's so cool is that they didn't even use CGI. They actually used a real rotating hallway.

  • In Nolan we trust.

  • Whats the name of the song in the background?

  • @samoa92 Inception Soundtrack - Bonus Track - Don't Think About Elephants :)

  • (0:01) "Fuck! the're all dead, i'm bad at this!"

  • IT IS IMPOSSIBRU!!!

  • Now I understand the reason of seatbelts

  • The end made me laugh:

    "Did you see that!?"

OF COURSE NOT! THEY'RE ASLEEP!!! XD

  • This totally should have won "Best Fight" at the MTV Movie Awards! Joseph is soooooo much better than Rob Pattinson! I vote best fight EVER!!!

Btw, I didn't know JGL was Jewish...

  • @that70switch well the mtv movie awards really has no credibility considering its filled with per-pubescent teenagers that don't really understand film

  • damn i want to rewatch this whole film in imax in Manchester! :)

  • After watching this scene for at least a hundred times, it still gives me the chills

  • Yusuf: HAHAHA "Did you see that?"

  • Man, they use like the cheesiest punching sound effect at 1:35.

  • @YoungDJC If you listen closely you can see that the sound you're talking about is the gun hitting the floor, and the punch is a sort deep *thump"

  • @YoungDJC i think that was the gun hitting the ground

  • greattttttttt

  • Little skinny Jewish "kid" beats up big black man built like a linebacker...yep IT'S A DREAM!! HAHA

  • This is in my opinion, the greatest fight scene ever. When I saw this in theaters all I could do was say "wow."

  • Imagine if they were stuffed in a giant dryer.

  • Thanks, to my favorites. This is the only video on youtube that knows where to star, along with the music.

  • This fight scene gives me chills everytime.

  • Damn ! That was HOT !

  • I love how JGL actually did all of these stunts instead of stunt doubles taking his place. Gotta love him. :D

  • I wish my house could do that. It would be a lot easier to change the light bulbs.

  • i wish they had an imax (they sorta allready have one but they only show documentaries)where i live in sweden and had reruns of this movie every month :(

  • jgl looks so suave in his suit @_@

  • Sorta what it feels like to get terribly drunk on a cruise liner...

  • God I hope this gets a cinema re-release, 'cause it was fucking amazing on the big screen.

  • What sucks is that X-Men First Class had a scene similar to this in the movie. Emma Frost and Charles Xavier were going to have a mental battle. However, due to it bearing similarity to this film the fight scene was cut altogether.

  • Too fucking cool.... this movie is the best

  • 3rd Rock kid ain't playin' around!

  • @Andrewkerr14 I know! I cannot wait to see him in The Dark Knight Rises.

  • they did this scene by using real props, not CGI ..and Joseph Gordon Levitt is amazing by doing his own stunts for this scene

  • I wonder what happened outside the hotel....

  • I wish my house rolled around like that

  • One of the best scenes from one of the best movies.

    FUCKING AMAZING.

  • i wish my dreams were this freaking cool!

mine are just random as fuck and im woken up with pure confusion hah

  • Pfft, screw gravity. *Flies to ceiling*

  • Man the first time I saw this I was freaking out so fucking hard.

  • My audience and I went apeshit after Arthur shot the guy.

    So amazing.

  • My question is if there were ever an Inception sequel (and I pray to God there ISN'T), how exactly would you go about topping something like this, where influence from the subconscious above effects the one below?

  • @Grammaton485 Prequel? How Cobb started, how he met Mal, Arthur and Eames etc.?

  • This was the first scene that had ever literally made my jaw drop when i saw it in theaters

  • no cgi no stuntmen this is the best scene evar!

  • This has to be one of the best fight scenes ever made without the use of CGI.

  • best movie fight scene ever.

  • I LOVE THIS SCENE!!!! SO FRIGGIN AMAZING!

  • Just... incredible. When I saw this in theaters, I thought, "CGI, how else did they do it?" When I found out later they literally SPUN a hallway with Levitt still as Arthur.... Best Special Effects well deserved.

  • arthur in da hallway " so dats how u want it hey fine i can do spiderman too bitch come here muthafucka" lol

  • One of the coolest scenes in any movie ever.

  • let them sleep you asshole

  • The fight in the hallway is amazing, though I wish the rest of Yusuf's simultaneous fight were cut as well. The scene from 0:49 to 1:00 is especially confusing.

  • wow all that furniture must have been bolted to that floor

  • when the car flipped over, its a good thing arthur was in a hallway and not outside

  • @KennyG881 Yeah, when the car was upside down, that would have TOTALLY sucked for Arthur.

  • @KennyG881 Yeah, when the car was upside down, that would have TOTALLY sucked for Arthur.

  • @KennyG881 Yeah, if Arthur was outside when the van went upside down, that would have TOTALLY sucked for him.

  • @huzaifah123 Try again. If you watch the behind the scenes documentary in the making of this scene they actually constructed a massive rotating hallway and the rest was Choreographed within the rotating set piece. In fact, Joseph Gordon Levitt even did his own stunts on this scene. No stunt man, no CGI.

  • @DrewJaye I don't think it's the best fight scene. Have you seen Jackie Chan. Also, why do you mention it didn't rely on special effects or cgi? What fight scenes have relied on special effects or cgi?

  • @huzaifah123 A best fight scene isn't just about knowing how to fight, in this scene, what made it special apart from the fact that there's no blue/green screen or special effect, is the fact that the fight took place in a dream, what made it more intriguing was how layer 1 dream affected layer 2, thus, causing the rotating hallway effect, a best fight scene isn't just about fighting skills, it needs a unique setting to support it, and a great plot, which is why this was a nominee for best fight

  • @huzaifah123 Seriously? What fight scenes have relied on special effects or CGI??!! How about The Matrix, X-Men, Spider man, any other superhero movie recently! To go with your "analogy" regarding martial arts films, there's Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Kung Fu Hustle...

I think you have a narrow (albeit "purist") definition of what constitutes a "fight" scene. At the very least, most fight scenes are usually altered with slow-motion. Inception's fight scene ALL takes place in REAL TIME.

  • @tfpp1 Not only that, there was absolutely NO CGI in this scene. Period. They actually created a huge rotating hallway, so JGL (who did all of the stunts in this scene) and the guy he's fighting had to literally jump from wall to wall and floor to ceiling and try to make the fighting look realistic. No easy feat. I think that @huzaifah is being huffy over nothing.

  • @joshlazarus better than Jet Li

  • KICK ASS!

  • BIG ROTATING CYLENDER OF FIGHTING-NESS!

  • never watching another movie that the soundtrack isn't done by hans zimmer

  • @tt6464

Daft Punk did an equally amazing job on Tron imo

  • Can someone please tell me which song of the soundtrack is used during this scene?

  • @Jessy910 Don't think about elephants- Hans Zimmer, its a bonus track, the part u hear in this scene while the fight is near the end of the song

  • @DShodan Thank you very much! Have a great day :-)

  • @CruuushaL idiot...u dont understand film...this is probably one of the best scenes for film ever, the work, the idea, the tech....

  • watch?v=KRfc7NYyuWU

inception is the reason I got a date to prom...

  • I really wanna see this again now. Buying this on Blu-Ray was a damn good investment.

  • 0:30 goon status.

  • When he said "Did you see that?" he better be referring to the fight scene :P

  • this must be in a video game. who else agrees?

  • The film technique of using a room built on a rotating gimble was first used 91 years ago in a movie starring Douglas Fairbanks. It was director Victor Fleming's first feature film. And guess what: the technique was used in a dream sequence! The movie was called "As the Clouds Roll By" and it was made in 1919...ten years before movies had SOUND. Nolan cleverly used an old technique and made it work beautifully.

  • @JohnWesleyDowney There was also a Fred Astair movie where he danced on a set like this.

  • I'm not sure why but this makes me think of the Matrix

  • @YTPrule this scene is so much better than the matrix imo and i loved the matrix when it came out and still do

  • I love how right as he's charging the guy the music just ramps up. The brass section just signifies the beginning of a throw down

  • @CruuushaL simple... its cool

  • I love this fight. And this film. 8D

  • @CruuushaL You obviously have no idea how much work went into creating this one scene but if you look it up you will see it IS quite amazingly executed ;)

  • @ROFLSoldiers Didn't they build a set that could rotate 360 degrees? They did the expat same thing when they were filming The Fly.

  • @ROFLSoldiers This scene was extremely complex. What I thought was amazing was when Joseph Gordon-Levitt chose to do the scene himself and not rely on a stunt man.

  • @Scoonertuna Yeah I was surprised to learn that he did this and wanted to also, he is a good actor hope he finds more great films like this one.

  • @ROFLSoldiers He's going to have a role in The Dark Knight Rises.

  • @ROFLSoldiers Yes, its an amazing feat in engineering.

  • best. film. ever.

  • This seen was amazing!

  • I like how mohinder yelps

  • I can only imagine how bizarre this would be to experience, even if it were just filming a movie. It seems so normal from our perspective, because the hallway isn't rotating. However, to the actors, as soon as it starts to tilt, the effects are immediately noticeable. This is especially visible as Levitt runs down the hall, just before he attacks the stuntman. For a second, he's running at a slanted angle, something that's not possible without the effects of the tilt.

  • i'm still pissed that this movie didn't win movie of the year or whatever and that THE KING"S SPEECH won instead. Man that movie looks boring as hell and it still won. Just shows how blind these critics are

  • @dannievasco Actually The King's Speech is a very VERY well-done movie, it's a different genre.

  • @dannievasco the kings speech is brilliant. but this movie is on a whole other level. Inception is fantastic, in every sense of the word

  • This definitely will be an iconic scene later in time. I can already see in the future that many parody/spoof movies will copy this in their films

  • I wonder what would've happened if the van didn't land right side up at the end. What if it landed on it's side or upside down?

  • Comment removed

  • Yusuf: Hehehe, Did you see that? XD

    Ariadne and Cobb: -_- *zzzz*

  • @lopezamurai That part always makes me laugh too ;)

  • Wouldn`t opening a fire exit set off the alarm?

  • This deserved the "Best Fight" award instead of that fake ass cgi shit that fuckin twilight movie did. This just proves that fucked up crazed "twilight fan girls stay up all night voting for the piece of crap movies. MTV is just for people who dont have no taste in movies> They dont look for quality good movies they only look for stupid ass movies with shirtless dudes in it. Man our generation sucks ass

  • Actually, there is this sort of "sychronicity" all over the movie. Nolan said so himself that he wanted to do that a certain moments. But actually, if you go back and watch it, it's all over the place, really. Check out the pacing and buildup once limbo is entered between cuts and set pieces; watch the kick scene at the end. It's just sick how cool the music sync's up with certain moments. *sigh* just...great film making.

  • The van hitting the ground is also "musical" and "in tempo". Then, in the hotel room, the first "punch" is in tempo, halfway through the "key change" Nolan cuts to the van for a beat (again, in "tempo"). When Arthur smacks the phone against the dude's head. And we hear the papers rustling and falling when they climb on the bed yet again when the music changes keys back. It just sheer Brilliance. I believe it's this attention to detail that the score amplifies.

  • 1) It all starts when the van beings to roll (musical "hit" after silence). 2) the moment Arthur' hands touch the floor when he's "sideways". 3) When he throws the black dude against the wall. 4) When the black guy "falls" to the ceiling. 5) When Arthur hops to the other side of the hallway. All these moments correspond to a musical "downbeat" if you will, each aspect reinforcing the other. and this is just in this hallway segment...(more)

  • I would like to call attention to the awesomeness of the editing in conjunction with the musical score. Anyone notice the "points of synchronicity" that add epicness to the scene? rising scale in the strings in punctuated not only by the percussion and brass, but there are moments when the sound design matches it perfectly. For instance:

  • In every 2 movies... a black man dies.

  • @eman4show

and In every other movie, or in the same, a asian dude gets owned or shot at.

  • Wow, the trolls were right, this movie is meme ready, shallow, and appealing to the intellectual vanity of an anti-intellectual country. Stolen from the Matrix, Jacob's Ladder, and Dreamscape.

  • ha ha.......did you see that!

  • I know right!

  • Twilight fags are gay, they dont deserve one reward, inception deserves it all, best fight or a bunch of jumping when u got a rotating fight all over, fuck that. this is way better

  • The only thing this fight needed was more MC Escher impossible stairs action.

  • That sucks it lost for best fight at the MTV Movies Awards :(

  • did you see that? hı...

  • Perfect example of how music can make a scene all that more epic.

  • Perfect SFX scene. Actors, the stunts, the background score. Everythgs js WOW.

  • Damn The inception ensemble is so well dressed He made that bizarre action scene look so stylish.

  • the best movie scene in history

  • The best scene of Inception!

  • WTF why it never won best "fight scene" but goes to Twilight

  • @edmundtang90 mtv just don't know the awsome of inception

  • @edmundtang90 Because Mtv is targeting teens and young adults

  • @eb88408 I think his question was more of a rhetorical question, not literally... haha

  • @edmundtang90 cause of most girls and some guys enjoy twilight when men like us enjoy inception and the dark knight

  • Lucky nobody got shot in the face in that car haha. Love the music cue at :44

  • Anyone know why when Arthur punches the black guy at 1:54 it sounds like a girl moaning??? It's a bit high-pitched for all the testosterone-filled manliness that is otherwise busy kicking ass in this scene...

  • Props to Joseph Gordon Levitt for doing his own stunts!

  • Inception and Dark Knight....two of the best films...EVER...

    Nolan is a damn genius!

  • The King's Speech was a good movie, but this scene made Inception far more iconic and will be remembered for years to come. Decades from now people will continue to debate about the mysterious ending that made this film an instant masterpiece. Inception deserves the Best Picture, Best Director and Best Score Oscar rather than The King's Speech.

  • @FAA102 the king's what?

  • @kryptox666 THE KING'S SPEECH, STARRING COLIN FIRTH.

  • Press 7 to see Arthur get punched in the face repeatedly

  • when this scene came on, my hair just stands and goosebumps came.

this only happen only at the epic moment of a movie or song, and i believe this is really epic

  • How the FUCK, did this lose to Twilight for best fight. INCEPTION

  • @Oblidenorator cause they let 14 years old bitch to vote

  • OMFG I CANT WAIT FOR BATMAN

  • I just came.

  • Such an incredible scene. It is that one shot in particular where they fight on three different planes without a cut that makes the scene so much more awesome.

  • @2:24 ..."BANG BANG!" XD

(Watch 'The Making of' if you missed the reference.)

  • @AshdensSweetheart I know what you're talking about haha

  • What is the song used in this scene?

  • @iknownothing34 i think it was Dream Collapsing

  • @CampinCarl354 No, it wasn't that...if you listen to that song, it doesn't have the part from the movie in it.

  • @iknownothing34 It's actually a bonus song called "Don't Think About Elephants". The other bonus song is called "Projections" and I believe that played during the first dream sequence when Saito was the target.

  • @ColonelChaos0 Wow, thanks!

  • did anyone blink or breathe when they watched this scene at the cinema?

  • @FactoryGaming no i didn't and i've watched like 50 times, actually the lack of oxigen will cause a damage in our brains

  • this movie was like the matrix on steroids withthe action

  • This is my favorite scene of the movie!

  • I saw The King's Speech, and while it was certainly a good movie, I don't even understand why Tom Hooper was NOMINATED for Best Director (let alone actually deserved to WIN) over Nolan; what exactly did Hooper do that was so special? more importantly, what was more special than THIS scene? not only is it brilliantly directed, edited, concieved, and choreographed, the music makes the scene pretty much perfect (nothing against The Social Network, but Inception deserved the Best Score Oscar)

  • Play this song- /watch?v=PPcds3jOhRQ and mute this video!

    Song matches almost perfect!

  • Alexisonfire? Nice! Just don't think it suits with inception, seriously.

  • dis my favorite scene its da shit

  • For those of you who are looking for the track that plays, it's titled, "Don't Think About Elephants" it's a bonus track.

  • Kubrick would be like "been there done that" lol

  • Epic fight scene!

  • i'll be honest, i always thought that this movie wouuld be some overly-complicated action fest that would be retarded, i just finished it and im still jizzing all over the walls

  • twilight i'm really happy for you and ima let you finish... but inception had one of the best fight scenes of all time

  • i like how theyre fightin in a rotating hallway like dat shit iz normal lmao
