@klegster My mom worked for a trucking company a few years ago that had a terminal in a small town. His workers decided to unionize and then strike for higher wages. The owner told them he was paying them as much as he possibly could and they didn't believe him. He ended up just closing the terminal because he was going to be working for about $1 an hour and it wasn't worth it. The union guys were all pissed at him because they were out of a job but he had no choice.

There's a famous book store in Portland whose owner helped campain for liberal ballot measures and against things like an anti-gay measure 9. But when his employees tried to unionize he had them fired.
