That was an MCL tear outside bent in means MCL. Same thing happened to me gotta torn MCL a sprained ACL and a bone contusion. Still hurts 6 months later
@jackisback037 I'm like you. I got 3 ligaments jacked up. Torn acl, mcl, and strained lcl. Mine still bothers me a year later. It's something we'll have to deal with for a while.
@XxEagle61Xx If you still have pain or feels very unstable, go back to your doctor. Otherwise, just continue with rehab. Build up the muscle for the minor instability. Wish u early recovery dude.
@338888 Oh, I'm fine now. I was fully cleared 8 months after the injury. Knee does bother me from time to time, mainly when I'm standing too long. But the recovery went well. Thanks for the well wishes, Merry Christmas.
@MichiganStateMyles Do not rush this! It's not worth starting over again. I know it sucks, but you want to make sure that your knee is 100% before returning. And as for the phase where I couldn't do much (about 3 months for me) I played Xbox all day. It was all I could do. lol
Sorry about your injury, I am a sophomore at a school in N.O. and I tore my acl in football, and I was actually watching this game on TV. I am one month after surgery, what option did you get for surgery?
@lightning608cp I say this a lot, but make sure your knee is 100% before returning. Don't let coaches, friends or anyone influence you to rush it. This is a long recovery process and it's not worth starting over again. I had surgery 2 weeks after the injury and I used the cadaver acl graft. I researched it and found that it was the best thing for me.
@SneedySneedSneed took me 4 months of PT to get my knee into running shape. Don't rush it! Keep going to PT and take it easy. I was jogging at 4 and running normally around 5. I'm full go now, I was cleared at 8 months.
@MsAwesomeasian Get the cadaver acl. Don't use the hamstring, it's not meant to be an ACL, I know several people who've gotten it that have torn it again.
@XxEagle61Xx oh too late for that, my doc did hamstrings, :P , i thought dead people graft are not that strong cause of the freezing and germ killing phase? did the people you know go back to sports too early?
@MsAwesomeasian When people donate their bodies, they take anything usable and store it safely. My knee feels great now, I'm still building strength back up into it though. I know a couple of guys who went back too soon, their knees are ok, but their knees hurt more and aren't where they could be. It's not worth rushing back into anything. The whole process sucks!
@MsAwesomeasian Cadaver tendons are really quite strong and will provide full support as long as proper rehab is applied. However, the immune ststem may recognize them as foreign tissues and "reject" those cadaver tendons leading the further complications.
@dtj225 with a torn MCL, I would guess anywhere from 2-6 weeks. I'm no doctor, but I saw it happen last year with my team. Depending on the severity of the tear, you may just miss one week. MCL isn't like the ACL, so you're in better shape than I was. I'm hoping the best for you though.
@dtj225 I am a senior as well. I tore my ACL and MCL week 2. It sucks to know that I'll never be able to play another game of High School Football. Hope everything goes alright. God bless!
@RILEYJENSEN8 dang bro, sorry to hear that. Here's some advice, take it very easy for a couple months, (lay on the couch all day) dont rush anything. ALWAYS go to PT, dont miss a day, and most of all ice, ice, ice, ice all the time. It will help the swelling go down very fast, took my knee bout 2 and 1/2 months to look normal! But you'll be walking and running in no time. I hope you have a good recovery and if you have any ?'s on anything, shoot me a message anytime!
