POR FAVOR!!!! SI TE ESCUCHARIA MICK TAYLOR TE RE CONTRA CAGARIA A TROPADAS X MALTRATAR EL MEJOR SOLO DE LOS STONES, ENCIMA LE RE PIFIA LA LA ESCALA!!! WOOD SOS O---RRRIIII---BLEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Its too bad they didn't keep Taylor around, but I think Jagger didn't want the guitars to keep getting featured. As many horns as they had on Sticky Fingers (IMO their best album, most well-rounded, cleanest recording, every song a keeper), it was a very strong guitar album with this, Bitch, Brown Sugar, Sister Morphine, etc. Listen to the stuff that followed this album: not so many solos, lots of Mick singing and IMO dumb radio fodder.
@Realitytourist Exile had plenty of fantastic solos on it, they are just buried in the crappy mix on the original album. Most of the later post taylor albums didn't feature solos for the simple reason that Ronnie Wood isn't 1/4 the guitarist that Mick Taylor was. I see your point though, notice how Mick cut Ronnies guitar solo in this clip? He's such an ego maniac. lol.
as far as i know, the stones are still rocking! w/wo mr taylor
and yes i like ronnie,he's a rocker, simple playing and efficient but i agree with others taylor was something i like him too,i was a kid the stones were playing rock &roll and im 47 and the stones are still playing rock &roll isn't it amazing.thank you
I must admit that I started to watch this video with the preconception that Ronnie Wood would not do justice to Mick Taylor's guitar work in this song. However, I was right.
There is a reason why this was not done previously live, it is Mick Taylors song. One of the few classics he never got credit for. Ron Wood is not capable of handling this song, stick to Start Me Up.
Brian Jones did it all...on any and all instruments!!!...Mick Taylor was great and managed to walk away on top- and alive; Ron Woods is ok...a little better than a pedestrian, lucky, sloppy & muddy Keith wannabee- just an average bassist at best on the 1st 2 Jeff Beck group albums in '67 and '68, which had the genius Nicky Hopkins, who was the best piano player ever!.
Both Wood and Keith are playing very sparsely in their "golden years". I think we won't hear them play their asses for evermore. But how futile is the comparison of this Ron wood guitar solo to the album version of Mick Taylor in his prime. Ron Wood has a treasure trove of recorded guitar genius and any music fan of classic rock would surely have their eyebrow hairs seared right off their face at the discovery of such a talent. It's all documented, just check it out.
Ronnie Wood is the luckiest man on earth for joinin the Stones since 1975 he's living a life on ease and HE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO PLAY A GUITAR PROPERLY HIS SOLOS SIMPLY SUCKS
SecretProphet....On Let It Bleed, the only songs Mick Taylor plays on are Country Honk and Live With Me...all the rest: Midnight Rambler, Monkey Man, Gimme Shelter, Love In Vain (BEAUTIFUL acoustic work, which Keith always said was the true measure of a guitarist): ALL KEITH...so, for those who say he can't play (I know you didn't say that), he's an incredibly powerful musician. He can hit you in the gut as good as anyone;but, other than the facts about Let It Bleed, I couldn't agree w/you more
Kieth is great he can play. Personally when I got the let it bleed albumn I thought It was unfinished! Midnight rambler sounded so much better when they got Taylor in there. As for love in vain listen to the live versions of 1972. It might be just me but I got the feeling Kieth was pushed to do even better with Taylor in there. The rolling stones were so lucky to get Mick Taylor. He made the band solid.
agree w/you about Mick T. And although I waiver on which of the albums from '68-'72 is the best, I seem to come back to Sticky Fingers, which, I believe, is the peak of Taylor's time w/The Stones; it was his album as much as anybody's. But, although I am not overly familiar with Taylor's solo stuff, or much of anything after the Stones (save for the Dylan lp), I gotta believe The Stones were just as good for him. It seems to me those Blues Breakers guitarists have bad instincts (Clapton lol),
Agree with you. Sticky fingers #1 Exile #2. Many stones fans will dissagree with me. I was a kid waiting for the follow up to exile and was amazed how the band had changed for ever with goat shead. Its only rocknroll had one hit. Jagger and Keef were well aware of Taylors Talent. They made the same mistake as other buisnesses do! Keep the talent happy! What do yall other stones fans think?
(cont.) The Stones always stuck, in general, with not too much instrumental overindulgence, and they stay away from the MOR (both of which Clapton is guilty of in spades)...but I know we're not discussing Clapton. But, to sum up, although all of the eras of the Stones (Jones, Taylor, Wood) have their good points, I think, like many, their best work was with Taylor...in terms of absolute peak quality...but The Brian Jones era was pretty good too
Keith Richards has to be the most under appreciated musician of the last half century. He and Jagger have written some of the most powerful music in modern times. I had nearly forgotten about Mick Taylor. His work on Let It Bleed has yet to be duplicated.
Let it bleed was great dont get me wrong. Keef was still young and he did it ..To me it sounded like a transitional period for the band. They were soon to conquer the world.
Micks Vocals Are Still Stong on this Old Gem..Even though What We Need on this is the Hard Edged Biting Distorted chords from 1971 to Frame this Song Properly..Maybe it was Mick Taylors Les Paul>>?
This is a good version of this song, but any thing the Stones do now still lacks Bill Wyman. No bass player matches so perfectly with Charlie's beat like Bill Wyman. And yes, I think Mick Taylor was a much better player than Ronnie. Still, I love the Stones!
Mick Taylor came out of the John Mayall school of great guitarists, such as Clapton and Peter Greene. They hired him to replace Brian Jones, but the Stone's lifestyle was killing him, so he had to quit.
look dont wanna argue because i have no problem with r. wood but if u think the stones were a better band musically once taylor left since he didn't get the credit he deserved then u are just as drunk as ronnie is most times on stage. stones were great when taylor was hired afterwards they were the greatest.
I think mick taylor is a great guitarist, but keith's guitar sound shapes the stones sound. satisfaction, jj flash, sympathy, gimme shelter, all keith driven riffs. The two albums, Beggars and Let it Bleed are Keith's defining albums, before m.t. joined, they were the greatest then, but I like all the eras.
Taylor was fine for the 6 weeks he stuck around, but Ron and Keef are the Stones guitarists for the last how many years? I think this was early in the tour, they were still feeling their way thru (and Mick is calling cues). Other "Sway" shows on YT are really hot!
ronnie really doesn't quite nail the mick taylor solo does he? never thought i'd find a live version of sway.... number one song of all time.... track two.... stickey fingers...
I really doubt the Mick'n'Mick remark below. Lines like "my friends are on the burial ground" and "she broke me up with a corner of her smile" are classic KR lyrics. Have to agree though that when MickT was in the Stones they were at their best, no doubt.
creo que como aporte para la composicion taylor fue vita, y se hicieron los mejores discos de los stones ocn el, pero la dupla keith ronnie no la cambio por nada del mundo
It is interesting that for all the credit Keef gets, its hard to deny that the best Stones period was when Mick Taylor was with them. I mean, Keith was a freakin' junky when they were making Exile. I do love Keith, but... this doesn't hold a candle to the Sticky Fingers version.
Yeah, sadly Mick > Ronnie. Gets the job done, at least and we have this to remember the old days from "Exile" and other notable times with the Stones. However, Carla Olson isn't my cup of tea.
I was at this show also. The Garden in NY. Mick said in an interview that he had to teach the song to Keith because Keith didn'tm play on the record. It was Mick & Mick!!!
