  • Oh, yes... thanks so much fot this post! I'm a Midsomer fan

  • @Malatacca1 Im Midsomer fan too :)

  • Exquisite. The world has, sadly, lost a unique musician.

  • She has passed now, but I always enjoy this opening theme- it is so distinctive! Appreciative of her contribution.

  • the song is criepy but playing it on the ost criepy instrument of all time is haunting

  • Unfortunatley celia Sheen has passed away at the age of 71

    Celia Sheen 1940 - 2011

  • Who was the composer?

  • @mpm6228 Jim Parker

  • Thank you for all of the pleasure you brought to the world, Ms. Sheen......R.I.P.

  • Brilliant!

  • this is my friends cousin :) she went to her funeral yesterday RIP Celia ♥

  • @kitkatgirly98 Hi! Sorry to hear that :(( How old was he do you know?

  • God Bless you Celia and you Colin xx Bobby

  • RIP Celia Sheen. You made the world a better place by playing the Tony Henk theremin. Thank you.

  • Ladies and gentlemen

I have now found my favorite instrument.

  • Wow, she's incredible.

  • Cool! However I've never heard about this instrument, it's really interesting.

  • As a fan of the show, I've always found the song haunting and now I know how the music is played. She is quite accomplished musician. Thanks for posting!

  • @DaKingfish53 I love that it is both haunting and in the long tradition of British farce music. Like the Last of the Summer Wine Tune it conveys the tragicomedy of the show.

  • What an absolute virtuoso!

  • @ilybakura Very. Like many instruments, the theremin is easy to learn the basics of but incredibly difficult to play well, even more so because there are no markings or physical indications of where to position your hand for the note you want - it's muscle memory to the extreme.

  • @AVeryPotterFangirl Thanks for telling me ^^

  • Damn, why have I bought a synthesizer?

  • How hard is it to learn how to play the theremin?

  • it takes years to learn it. as a piano, you have somewhere that is positioning the fingers.

on this instrument is the distance that determines the tone.

I hope you find this as an answer to your question.

  • This is the strangest, yet coolest instrument I've ever seen. :O

  • Aside from the fact that this theme will get stuck in your head for YEARS, this has to be one of the coolest instruments I've seen.

  • 1 person doesn't watch television

  • how cool is that

  • what is the name of the episode when there are 3 teenagers that killed 6 people

  • @isak424 is that the one when there in a marching band ?

  • @superspy6 yes

  • She's winning.

  • All this is very well, and probably a technical marvel, BUT WHY, -why ideed ??

Does anyone really find this beautiful or worth while listening to ?? It is quite a hideous and vulgar sound.

  • @bihonning I like it, I think it has a strange otherworldly beauty to it. Been listening to it quite a few times lately so I find it worthwhile.

    Each their opinion though.

  • @bihonning Have you ever watched Midsomer Murders? It works very well there.

Also, Bill Bailey does some funny stuff with it.

  • AMAZING :)

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Amazing!! Great work with Theremin!! :)

  • this song is eerie i agrey, but great song for midsomer murders,iv never see that this shes playing before, its odd, shes not even touching it.

  • this is so creepy

  • that one person has no taste for music, this is amazing and love it, ive got it in my head lately and i find myself whistling it while doing jobs :D

  • amazing!

  • I thought it said Charlie Sheen. I was greatly disappointed, but this is still bi-winning.

  • I bet she has tiger blood

  • I read 'Celia Sheen' as 'Charlie Sheen' o_o

  • Thanks so much for uploading this!!! Sometimes I think the theme of Midsomer Murders (on the theremin) is the main reason I watch the show--certainly one of the prime reasons. It's hard to think of any theme that has been better suited to its subject matter. Deliciously creepy! (The actors are wonderful, too.)

  • The one disliking is the murderer!

  • Damn she is hot... !!!

  • @Sjisjin2 you are a psyko if u think that, grandma porno?

  • @GuitarLeo096 I think that was meant as a joke...

  • @TheEFromHell no really? -.-

  • @GuitarLeo096 well, your response seemed a little serious and overdone, so I just wondered if you understood... never mind me then

  • @TheEFromHell excuse me then

  • @GuitarLeo096 Well smart ass... Im 61 so not much psyko about that....

  • @Sjisjin2 o.O PEDOPHILE!

  • @GuitarLeo096 why is he a "pedophile? because hes older than you? grow up you imbicile

  • Amazing ! Without strings or keys, it would be hard to know if you were doing it right. I'm sure I could never do it.

  • creepΥ

  • Imagine trying to tap that! (the woman that is, creepy!)

  • @CaptainJahangir99 you are a sick and horrible person.

  • @AdmiralBarackbar Lollll you tramp.

  • @CaptainJahangir99 while you tap her, she looks at you like she`s lookin at the theremin, and does the hand movement, so stiff , on top :)) i wanna get one of theese, theremins :))

  • thats creepy

  • Waouh, Tout simplement magnifique. Respect à cette dame.

  • I respect anybody who can play the theremin properly it must take a huge amount of control and a very very good ear

  • This is my favorite theremin piece, and now I've seen it performed, thanks to you. :)

  • I'm addicted to this. Really want a theremin now... anybody selling for a fiver lol.

  • @RMSLusitania1 you are welcome!

  • @RMSLusitania1 @RMSLusitania1 If you want to set it on your ipod, you can go to keepvid.com and copy the URL in the download bar of keepvid. After you have done that, you ll see mp3, mp4 etc. choose one of them and select save on your background from your pc. than drag them to itunes and you have it! good luck!

  • you're on my ipod!!!

  • O.O wooooah! thats amazing

  • Music by Jim Parker.

  • When you hear it by itself, it sounds kinda corny because of all the old horror movies it was in, but when you see it in action, that's the impressive part!

  • nice

  • i wish i could play the theremin!

  • That's a clever instrument.

  • pretty whacky instrument, pretty creepy too come to think of it

  • What amazing pitch control!

  • Beautiful skills.

  • j'aime beaucoup cette chanson !!!

    I love this song !!!

ich habe dieses Lied sehr gern !!!

me gusta mucho esta canción !!!

  • this has to be the instrument that takes a lot of skill to play

  • THAT IS FUCKING SICK

  • THE COOLEST INSTRUMENT ON EARTH!!!

  • Comment removed

  • BURN THE WITCH

  • Badass!

  • This is by far my favorite demonstration of the Theremin. On Youtube, anyhow. Haha

  • What is she doing with her left hand?

  • @swedentracknfield The left hand controls the volume, up for more, down for less, down to zero if you put your hand almost in the loop.

  • @swedentracknfield bass ^^

  • Thank you Celia Sheen for your beautyfull music!

  • wow can't belive it! It's soo cool!

  • @jhoersch A lot of thereminists prefer to mic their amp - a good amp can add to the timbre of the instrument.

  • very spooky :)

  • strange intrument!

  • I first thought it was a saw, until mom told me it was something else. I think she's seen this clip before.

  • I really love music played on the theremin. I'd like to build one one day.

  • awesome therin invisible instrument lol

  • it's scarrier than the serie itselfs!!!!!!!!

  • Incredible piece of music, one of my favourites, and it fits perfectly with Midsomer Murders (surroundings and atmosphere of the stories). I can't even decide between John Nettles and it, hehe...

  • Is this how scary music is played? ol cus ill be scared watching someone play

  • This is very nice to see! I always thought it was played on a saw! This must be realy difficult to play. Anyay, love this song. Its a bit spooky, perfect for the show.

  • Brilliant!!

  • Nice one!

  • This song is so eerie! It only makes it spookier that she doesn't even touch the instrument, it's like a ghost sound! I think I might have to go looking for a theremin to play...

  • very very nice :) i thought someone played on a saw for this theme. must take some skill as well

  • me too, heck i still can't belive it's NOT a saw

  • Loved the theme from the first time I heard it, and finally I know the performer of the Thermin. Awesome!

  • I always thought it was played on a saw blade.

  • really nice instrument. I like it!

  • I know now that this is played on a Theremin, but when I first heard the tune on a episode I thought it was played on a musical saw.

  • exactly...me too :-) .I didnt know theremin when i saw misomer first.

  • Same here. I only knew of the theremin after seeing a behind the scenes of Midsomer murders

  • i just love the show

  • For some reason I now love the Midsummer Murders Theme lol, and now I've discoverered this awsome new instrument! Its right up there with the Armonica in the weirdness gauge =D

  • The 'tube looking thing' is just a necklace - nothing more than that! Sorry that it's not clear because the video is not as good quality as I would have liked. I couldn't make a better version load onto Youtube

  • I think the quality of video is Ok for Youtube. But the skill of the player with this instrument is 'Superior'!!

  • Wonderful!!! I move immediately to Wiki, looking for theremin explication.

  • Oh My God! Midsomer Murders is my favourite song and whilst trying to find a version cut from the actual show to show my friend why I rant about loving this song and the show so much I found this video! Its amazing! I never knew what it was played on....wow.... =D

  • Neat!

  • Amazing!

  • There are no strings on a Theremin...

  • this is a fantastic example of trolling, well done

  • ok, you're not trolling, you actually are this retarded, never mind.

  • I loved the music but it looks really complicated to play
