@Cocoakat13 The Texas state reptile is the "Texas Horned Lizard" (Phrynosoma cornutum) also known as Horney Toads. Bearded Dragons are only related in that they are of the same order (Squamata) which consists of scaled reptiles like lizards and snakes.

Oh wow. Beardies [diet wise] seem a lot different then Leopard geckos. I've read in several places that crickets don't help leo's out any, but meal worms do. xD But hey, they're different... and if I ever get a beardie I'll make sure to feed 'em crickets.

meal worms are really fatty...they should be eating loads becaues they need the protein. Stick to crickets that are the size of the width of his jaw he may not be eating because he's not warm enough. Mealworms are treats for older beardies

@MinotaurTank Meal worms aren't a good staple. Good feeder yes not main staple though. Crix or turk roaches at a young age dubia roach when older. Meal worms contain to much chytin in there shell's. for a lizard this size the last thing they need is difficulty digesting a gutload of these worms. Wax worms would be better offered once MAYBE twice a week.

@hansmoleman100 you are sort of correct, the chitten can impact animals but what you are forgetting is mealworms have less chitten then crickets and deff more then any roach, but i wouldnt feed these as a staple to a pet but many breeders feed souly on mealworms and kale.

@hasanarkan umm... u have to get the temeratures right becuz its really cutial to their appetite an overall wsell being. also, it could juste scared and it might be having trouble adapting to its new environment... try not to pick him/her up for at least a couple days until hes more accustomed to his new settings...you need to feed it twice a day. but you shouldnt feed juvenile or baby beardies meal worms because THEY ARE EXTREMELY HARD TO DIGEST and COULD impact them. Get cricketts!!!! good luk

up to 6 months just use toilet roll on the bottem and after 6months use sand like play sand that you would put in a sand pit for a child, its always best to have a vivaruim set up a week prior to getting the bearded dragon as its then nice and cosy for them.

@mrkiemoney petsmart.....you can get a longtailed lizard for around ten bucks.....or a anole which run around the same price. and the only thing you need to support them in is a ten gallon with a basking bulb and some insects for him to eat.....for the green anole you will have to have the same size tank just alot more green in it. this will all ruun you around just 50 dolllars.

@jayjagger1211 with a baby try using just paper towel at first, because if it eats some of the sand whilst feeding its likely to get impacted, you can carry this on til it's an adult or swap for sand loads of people have different opinions

you can use tiles too

or repti carpet :)
