  • Very pretty. It's nice to take the time to do your hair nice. Women, mostly teenaged girls now a days, just seem to throw their hair up in a messy bun that looks like they rolled out of bed, and wear pajama pants everywhere they go. Then other girls slather on make up like they are wearing a mask. It's nice to see a very natural, yet pretty style.

  • Where did you get the rollers and clips? I like this... :D

  • What ever happened to the make up video that went along with this one? I loved it! :(

  • wow!! nice video!! :) thanks!

  • What happened to your Classic Bridal Makeup Video? I can't seem to find it anywhere!

  • @gangurogeisha

Theres another video called Vintage Bride Make-Up video

  • I use hot curlers on my hair too and i found using the pins are a lot better than the clips.

And i was wondering on you take on why you use the clips?

is it because you get a more lose curl?

  • I use the clips because it holds the rollers in more securely (especially in my hair which is very heavy). If I use the pins, the rollers don't stay close to my head.

I use both though. My dogs chewed up all my clips! So now I have to use the pins.

  • theres something thats killing me my hair is really dry and everytime i curl iron my hair and i put spray its beautiful but after a while it gets flat again what do you recomend me?

  • A good hairspray! Tresemme Freeze Hold Hairspray is my miracle hairspray. It makes your hair hold for hours.

  • hey! i have a question, do the rollers get harm by theirself? or do u put them in some warm source and if so, in which? As a spanish speaker I don't understand everything u say in your vid (but I'm improving! :D)by the way, I love all of your videos!!

  • The rollers sit inside a box/container. They heat up in there, and then you remove the curlers when they are ready.

  • i have a question....i don't have naturally straight hair but when i curl my hair i usually curl with my natural hair and straighten the part all the way down till i get to the curl and then i stop...so if i tease my hair with hairspray...won't the straightened part get frizzy and messed up??>...i hope u can understand my question

  • The tip with teasing is to lightly smooth out the visible part of the section (so the top) with a comb. I think in my showgirl makeup video I demonstrate it. Also try using a leave in conditioner spray, or smoothing serum to give the illusion of a smooth texture too.

  • Yes, hair spray.

  • Beautiful!

And what great taste. Audrey Hepburne, Nat King Cole...lovely.

  • can you tell us about the eye make-up on the model..I love it..and want to know how to do it

  • The video that this video is attached to is the makeup look- "Classic Bridal Makeup".

  • you are amazing, the way you do all the makeup things and the hair... wow =D Congratulation loll

  • Summer looks like shannen doherty

you know that one actress? so beautiful

  • how do you do that if u have REALLY curly hair without straightneing ur hair? please make a video if possible

  • I have wavy hair, and I have to lightly straighten my hair out before putting the rollers in. If I do it without straightening it, my hair looks a bit frizzy.

Or, you could try doing it with damp hair. The curls will be a bit more obvious though, but they stay in.

  • Hey, I love your vids and the music you use in them. If you're not familiar, you should check out Julie London. She sings a really BIG version of Black Coffee. I think you'd dig it!

  • yes, please do a video on your hair, it is gorgeous!

  • first of all id like to point out that you are amazingly talented musicly and make-up(ly..?)

and i was wondering of you could do a tutorial on perms... if you had a friend or other information on it

    that'd be very helpful

  • I know very little about perms except for those that my mum and friends have had in the past. I've never had a perm personally, because my hair is naturally quite wavy.

I'll try and find a good information source, and I'll post it on my blog.

  • I loved the hair do,it was sophisticated!

Could you please make a video for how to do sophisticated frenchrolls and such as well?

    (For business women)!

    Thanks:)

  • I'll give it a go!!!

  • summer reminds me of lisl from the sound of music. yes im a sound of music fan and proud! hehe

  • how long do you leave the rollers in ?

  • Either till they're cool, or no heat coming from them. On the weekend, I wore the rollers. And I wanted to make sure my hair stay curled all night, so I wore mine for about 2 hours while I was setting up for the party and painting my face.

  • i tried to roll my hair wit some hot rollers but i couldent do the back of my head lolz

  • I think I was using Bedhead hairspray in this video.

  • hi amy you're videos are so beautifully presented and informative! you've convinced me i need a new set of hot rollers haha. i especially love your choice of music, peggy lee has such a lovely voice. great to see a fellow aussie jazz and makeup lover rocking YT, keep up the awesome work! xo

  • hey askmemakeup : ) can u do this look wit a 1 1/4 in curling iron?

  • I'm debating on whether I should get the hot rollers you used or a GHD. Do you know if a GHD can create the same effect?

  • Yep. As you slide your hair through the GHD you, you twist the GHD around. Then just pin the curls to your head and wait till your hair cools down.

What I like about rollers is that it's quick to put them in, and you can fluff about for a while and are quick to take out. But I use a combination of both techniques depending on my mood!

  • Can you suggest a website or some place where I can buy the hair curlers and the clamps that you used in this video? I have found hair clamps but the length of the claws are short and does not hold my hair very well. I have very thick course hair and I have alot of hair as well. I would greatly appreciate any information you can provide. Thanks!

  • I bought these curlers from a department store in Sydney. The are by Vidal Sassoon... so you'll get them all over the place. And the clips came with the curlers.

  • Wonderful, i will look for them. Thanksyou!

  • Can you do a video showing how you did her makeup?? It looks absolutely lovely!

  • See my Classic Bridal Makeup video. There's a link to it on this page (the yellow box thingy directly under the video!).

She looks so glamorous, doesn't she?!

  • jeez how big is that cup!!

  • Someone else made that comment. I love this cup. It's deceiving. It's actually quite shallow. A mug actually holds more liquid than this cup! But it's super cute!

  • I love all of your video's that I've seen. They're all very helpful. But this is a strange request. A playlist. I enjoy the music in your videos so so so much. Plz and thnx.

  • You'll see that for each of the videos I list the music used in the description text to the right of the video. I think there's only one video- one of my earliest videos- that I forgot to list the details for. But all the info is there! And if you're looking to buy, look for lounge music and 50s and 60s jazz.

  • sorry, I may just be momentarily blind but I can not find a list of songs for this video, and I was wondering if you could tell me the title of the first song, I would really appreciate it, thanx!

  • Oh wow! I forgot to add the songs... you're the first person to let me know! The first song is "Black Coffee" by Peggy Lee.

  • Hiiii Amy...here's Anj from India....Just came across your tutorial...& glad to find it...this vid is real awesome...you are sooo sweet....love ya...

  • i love this video. but i dont have rollers. i only have a curling iron and spongy rollers but i hate them. lol.

  • I'll do a video showing how to get a similar effect with a curling iron, if you like.

  • that would be great! =) please and thank you!

  • ah, got it thanks, I'll keep searching.

  • tsk..tsk didn't see the whole vid, you said you don't do hair. :0

I was looking for those rollers, I've looked online but only see them for sale at ebay, and sold at that!I don't really like ebay though, is there anywhere else I can find them?

    Thanks!

oh p.s I'm from the U.S, I know your from AU.

  • I bought the rollers from a department store here in Australia. Someone from the US had commented that they'd bought them, but didn't say from where.

  • I was wondering, are you a cosmetologist? do you work in makeup or hair as a living, you do it so well!

  • No I don't do it anymore.... not full time. I actually run 2 family businesses- a graphic design business and a recruitment agency. And I study psychology and french at uni part time. God knows how i find the time to do any of this!!!!!

  • You made me buy these rollers. They are fantastic :D

  • Oh good! They're great, aren't they! Really easy to use, heat up quickly, your hair doesn't get caught in them! I'm really happy that you like them.

  • I've been wondering how to do this! I'm doing this for my homecoming dance!

  • If you want it to be more curly than this, then try curling your hair when you hair is a little damp (not really wet) but a bit damp. And also, remember to practice it before the day! Good luck! Send me photos.

  • Actually, I had my hair curled with a curling iron last year and this time I'd really like to keep it less curly. This is perfect! And I'd be glad to send photos! :)

  • I know exactly what you mean! When hairdressers do my hair they always make it too curly. And when you curl my hair it sticks. It doesn't fall out nicely throughout the evening! So I hate my hair looking too "done"- if that makes sense.

  • Exactly, i just want some soft curls that move naturaly when i'm out there dancing. thanks so much for this tip!

  • Your so talented! I love watching your videos good job and keep them coming :)

  • Yours are shiny, how yours can be like mine ? lol

  • Mine doesn't look so shiny if I leave it to dry naturally. My hair is a bit frizzy and wavy!

  • Your tutorials are a really addictive !

I have hair problems... my hair are really thick, curly and have a lot of volume ... do you have some idea for me ?

  • Sounds like me hair!!!! I am going to try and do a video on how I do my hair this weekend!

  • I love your videos! You're the best!!!

  • help1 i need help im going to homecoming and i dont know how to my hair it med long and it is semi formal i dont want all curls up but i down want all curls down i have no clue how big of curls im so confused please help!

  • Pure class! I love your style.. so glad to find your channel.

  • Thank you. That means a lot to me!

  • wow this is pretty. I will have to try this on my hair tonight :)

    Tory

  • what is the music in this video?

    it's fabulous.

    ahhh.

I'm doing that for homecoming. you've infected me, I'm addicted to your videos now!

  • It's Black Coffee by Peggy Lee! I lurve this song!

  • Also... thank you! What makeup look are you going to do for homecoming?

  • Great tutorial, Amy. Good to see a hair tutorial from you. I love the fact you have done a voice over for this tutorial; I think you should always do one when working on models instead of yourself.

PS - I'm an Aussie too, and proud! Lovin' that you are, and yes, Canadians are awesome too!

  • Aussie aussie aussie.... oi oi oi...

Yeah, I've done the voice overs when I do the models for the last few ones. I think from the Audrey Hepburn one! It does make it easier for me, and still pleases everyone hearing detailed descriptions.

When I record myself and speak, I ummm and ahh and always end up wishing I could go back and explain something a little better!

    Thank you!!!!

  • Amy, you have absolutley nothing to worry about with your voice. You are a pleasure to listen to and are most eloquent than you give yourself credit for.

  • Aw! Thank you very much for that. :)

  • I'm glad you give hair tips as well...very helpful for clueless gals like me!!! I appreciate it. :)

  • hihii Okay XD

  • i LIKE YOUR butterfly dog !! SO CUTE , HEyy what hapenned to the prety in pink , and the natural vids ?? , coul u make a video of somehting reeeally natural and petty at the same time ?? with browns and whites , nothing darkk on the eyes , thnak you !♥

  • Yep! I was going to do that on myself this weekend, but I had a break out and need to let me skin breathe!

  • as always its your worck is fantastic

  • hey , i love this hairstyle tutorial ! It would be nice if you could make a video how to make eyes like kelly clarkson has in her video *behind these hazle eye* whne shes wearing her wedding dress , with the black eyes nd stuff , would be very nice , thanks :P

  • Her hair is beautiful! wonderful job!

  • Love your tutorials. Short and informative. Could you do some tutorials concerning the face shapes? (for ex.for certain eye shapes, big nose etc)

  • I am right this second working on just that! It's going to be one mega video! Hopefully I can upload it either tomorrow or Monday.

  • whoaa i really love it :) im asian and i have really corse and curly hair but not like they arent in shape and ive wanted them to be in place like that but :( curlers turn my head to a sheep head :( like really really curly and way t o much worked so i dont know how to do it anymore

and btw :D i never knew how to makeup my asian eyes ;) and folowing your steps im a professional now hihi thanks :)

  • I was just practicing with the rollers just then! I have curly and thick frizzy hair naturally. I put the rollers in with damp hair, and my hair is now really curly! More Old Hollywood style. But if I blow dry my hair straight first and then do the rollers, it turns out more like this video.

  • This is BEAUTIFUL! Very Classy. BTW your model reminds me of Paris Hilton, with brown hair of course.lol Please, MORE VIDEOS. All of your videos are FANTASTIC! :D

  • Hahhahah.... really? I think she looks like a cross between Sophia Loren when she was young and Audrey Hepburn!

    Thanks for your comment.

  • Amy, you sure are a natural talent. Well done! One thing though--- when I see the model's hair all volumised after curled into rollers, did you use a hairspray that has volumising properties or just a standard styling ones? It's surprising though, the model's hair was thin due to straight hair.

  • Just a standard hairspray!

I had to help her hair along with teasing it though. Her drops quickly.

My hair you could put rollers in and 24 hours later, the curl is still in it.

  • oh! finally, i've been waiting for so long for you to do a hair tutorial! thank you so much for putting this up! i loved it!

  • that's a very big cup that she was drinking from

  • Well you are always well fed and well hydrated in my place!

The cup is actually quite shallow!

  • still,it's pretty! :)

  • u just seem so classic or something...maybe its the background or the cup lol but it makes me wanna hang out with you

  • Hahahahhahaa.... I would LOVE to hang out with you! Yeah, I recently moved into a house. I had been living in crappy little apartments. And slowly over the years I've been collecting little retro bits and pieces. Now finally having a house, that isn't rented, I can finally hang pics up on the wall, and pull out all my pieces!

  • THank you very much, Larry! I hope she does.

  • OO I absolutely love this look

Too bad i just recently cut my hair

  • I like when you use Summer as your model she's so naturally beautiful, as you are talented :)

  • i wish you could do my hair and makeup

  • Summer sure is giggly :)

  • Hahhahahah.... she is!

I usually have both Megan and Summer over at the same time to do the videos (since my house becomes a studio when doing the vids, with lighting everywhere and this and that computer capturing images... i like to do it all in one go). So it's nice cos we sit there and gossip and watch movies while we do the makeup.... and also my little puppies are running around and licking our feet.

  • awesome video ..

u r great both in makeup and hairstyle..

  • Super cute, thanks I will have to try this look =D

Thanks for the tips Amy, when are we going to see a music video ?

    Moni

  • I know, I know!

Hopefully this week I can put something up!

  • You and your friend are beautiful!! I like your curls. Your friends makeup is beautiful on her.

  • Thank you very much!

  • i looooooove this!

  • really good=) second teh best

  • I wish I had 4 arms so I could do it by myself!

  • Maybe later on, I can show you how I put rollers in my own hair. It's not too hard! I promise!

  • YAY AMY! Looks great and Summer is Beautiful!

  • Yo yo yo, wassup #5...... ok... that wasn't very me! Hahahhaha. Thank you very much. Summer is a knock out.

  • HAHA Sup dawg! LOL

  • When I refreshed the page I just caught your message... and it said it was added 2 seconds ago. Woooaahh... I want to try and catch a message when it's been posted 1 second ago. I don't know why? I'm still sleepy, #5.

  • Approaching 2000 subs AMy ! Wowzie! Your awesome!

  • I know! And I've got my website in development. It's going to be so cute. I'll talk to you later about the ideas I have.

And why are you being a stranger? Haven't had a good random chat in a while!

  • i have the straightest, uncurliest hair ever

  • thank you!!! but my hair never curls :(

  • Is Summer engaged?

  • Nope... oh, do you mean the rings on her fingers..... I always wear a ring on my wedding finger! Hahaha... it's the only one it feels comfortable on, and I like the look of it... hahaha.... maybe I'm yearing for something subconsciously? Hmmmmmm

  • agreed

  • You did a great job - Summer looks lovely!

  • wow! ur amazing. Omigod, i don't know about summer's hair, but the way you described yours is like mine: naturaly a bit wavy, kinda frizzy and thick. and mine's long too. Its takes me like 2 hours just to straighten it with a straightening iron.

  • Summer has the kind of hair you put a blow dryer to for 2 mins and her hair is dry and straight! I have to blow dry mine for a half hour! I'll be doing a video on my hair very soon. It may help you out seeing some of the things I do for my hair.

  • thanks!!

hey, are you from australia? im from Canada. far away...

  • Hi! Yes I am from Australia! I love Candians. I think Canadians are quite similar to Australians. Laid back, polite and friendly. Australians generally LURVE Canadians!

  • wondeful

  • she looks so gorgeous great job!

  • I have rough, wavy and a wee bit curly at the end hair .. what do i do to maintian this "oh so tough to maintain" hair ?

  • Wait till I do my video on my hair! You'll see what my hair is like naturally. In showing you how I do mine, you may pick up a few tips for yourself.

My hair is frizzy, thick and curly naturally. It's the kind of hair, I have to style or doing something too because it looks awful left out naturally to dry!

  • Thanks so much . That was extremely sweet of you :) ..

  • what is the spray that you used? What is it for? I can't wait to see your own hair vid! :)

  • Just hair spray... It's Schwarzkopf got2b in blasting freeze spray. It helps the shape of the curl hold. Especially with Summer's shiny smooth hair, the curls can drop out. My hair could probably hold the curl with out the hairspray, because mine is naturally curly. But hairspray... or a similar product ensures it will stick.

  • Thanks Amy! I'm going to try that on myself.

  • YAY! A hair video! ^_^ Hopefully when you have time you can do a video for the Retro Glam Hairstyle!

  • Yay! 1st to comment! Thanks for showing this tutorial. You're so talented.
