The rule has changed. Nowadays, the ball in the situation of penalty has to meet only these 3 cases:

1. Goal

2. Out (out of the line)

3. Block by goalie or hit the post.

If the ball does not meet any of these three, it's a goal kick. So, if you do that now, its the goalie's ball.

But before this rule was made, you were able to do whatever you wanted during a penalty... So this stupid offside and not offside argument is stupid..
