Rock Band can be useful as training for real musicians... well that was the objective of guitar hero, now those games are for virgin nerds that need to play plastic instruments to feel themselves metalheads or musicians.

You could always go to one of the huge music supercenters in your town. (Guitarcenter, Dietze, or a drum shop, etc.) and play for free. Try this. instead of spending $150-200 on that crap, invest that money into somethin useful. You could put some effort into your life and look on ebay or craigslist for a $200 for a drumset.
Music shops don't let me practice with music blasting away in the background, nor do they like me playing for hours on end.
I didn't want a Second Hand Drumset with pieces of the cymbal fucking missing or about to come off, so I bought one cheap, for $500.

The Cheapest 7-piece drumsets I've found were about AU$500, IIRC the pack with guitar drums and mic for Rock Band was somewhere between AU$150 to $200.

I've played drums for 7 years & I own Rock Band. Rock Band teaches some of the fundamentals of drumming, & rudiments. I have several friends who've actually picked up a real drum-set after playing Rock Band. Also, the game is more of an introduction to playing the instruments, not the actual instruments.

I bought a fun product, called Guitar Hero 2, entered a Guitar Hero 3 tournament, for free, and got Guitar Hero 3 for free, entered a RB tournament, got the Rock Band set for free, etc. etc.
I play a fun game, enter a fun tournament, win the fun sequel to the fun game, continue until I grow tired of it.
You can find something inherintly wrong with that?

You could always go to one of the huge music supercenters in your town. (Guitarcenter, Dietze, or a drum shop, etc.) and play for free. Try this. instead of spending $150-200 on that crap, invest that money into somethin useful. You could put some effort into your life and look on ebay or craigslist for a $200 for a drumset.

Music shops don't let me practice with music blasting away in the background, nor do they like me playing for hours on end.
I didn't want a Second Hand Drumset with pieces of the cymbal fucking missing or about to come off, so I bought one cheap, for $500.
You keep throwing around the term do something useful and put some effort into life, why does playing real drums immediately make you a success but RB make you a failure?
only 10% of people who own a drumset earn any money from playing it.

The Cheapest 7-piece drumsets I've found were about AU$500, IIRC the pack with guitar drums and mic for Rock Band was somewhere between AU$150 to $200.

@Zz0tt dude in this case it's different. playing guitar is not dangerous or anything and it's alot more better option, because in Guitar Hero you have only like 20 songs you can play and on the real guitar you can play anything you want to... and playing guitar isn't even much more expensive. you can get a ok beginner guitar + amp with 200 dollars when Rock Band sets are like 120 so 80 more and you can play anything you wanna so think that and stop comparing music to war idiot

i play guitar hero and rock band becuase i do not care enough to learn how to play a real instrument. i have no want to. i play those games because they are fun, and are fun to play with friends.

I've played drums for 7 years & I own Rock Band. Rock Band teaches some of the fundamentals of drumming, & rudiments. I have several friends who've actually picked up a real drum-set after playing Rock Band. Also, the game is more of an introduction to playing the instruments, not the actual instruments.

I totally agree with this video. Rock Band and Guitar Hero are only video games and nothing more. I'm a beast at Guitar Hero but I don't think I'm cooler then anybody else when i play it. I just play it for fun. I don't have to play real guitar just because I got good at Guitar Hero. People are just ridicules. It's just like saying I should go around killing people in NYC instead of playing GTA 4..

I play guitar but I don't play guitar hero because I think it's a waste of time.
