Actually, the first prototype is scheduled to roll off the production line in Oct 2010. But my sourcesd on the inside say that may slide to Feb/Mar 2012. So, in 1 year there should be a living breathing Kilo at Sikorsky's test facility in W. Palm Beach. An announcement is soon to be made requesting enlisted maintainers apply for the integrated maintenance team that will be put together to facilitate fleet introduction, not in 2015 but in 2018. The program slid from 2015 to 2018 about a year ago

I have over 3000 hours in the cockpit of the CH-53E. They couldn't pay me to switch to another aircraft. What we do in the Super Stallion is way too fun to give up for a less fulfilling aircraft. The Kilo will be even badder when it hits the streets in less than 1 year.

3000 hours eh? Then you know there isn't even a prototype model Kilo up and runnings right now. Pretty sure they aren't slated to come online till 2015.

I am luck enough to live down the street from Brandywine Airport. I love when they do these shows even though some of the neighbors don't like the sound. I was upset to not be able to see the V-22 take off from this years show. I think it had a mechanical issue and had to leave the following day.

I love this bird. I am a big guy myself and was a Navy Corpsman. Loved sitting this beast down in the quad and seeing all the bottom floor windows going blasting out. The down draft on this bitch is awesome. Love me some super stallion

SHE IS A BEAUTY!!! I remember leaving the Fob that I was operating out of in Afganistan, so as both of them came into sight, only thing I could say, THATS ONE BIG BUEATIFUL B---H!!! Inside she may leak Hydraulic fluid all over you, but you will not think about that when shea giving you a ride home.

@imustbebored2behere I live close to Cherry Point MCAS and these bad boys fly over all the time and they are the main reason I go to the air shows because I know they will have one on display and I will be allowed inside of it lol (they wont tell me how to start it though) and I get to see the demonstration. So if you fly them your job is very important :)

Question: Can the (awesome) CH-53E carry vehichles internally or is the loading bay/ramp to narrow? Also, is it used a SAR-helicopter (apart from the PAVELOW?) by any armed forces?

There is just no other helicopter out there like the CH53E. It is just an awesome display of the power you can put on a rotary wing aircraft. Thanks for the postings all who put them on, and thanks to all our folks in uniform!
