  • did you know that honey can became toxic if you use it on hot drinks, like tie, coffee, and even on hot cooking sweets? thumbs up for being seen.

  • What about brown sugar?

  • Make sure you read your labels and research your products people. Replace sugar with honey doesn't mean a darn thing if your honey has high fructose corn syrup in it. Check your breads and salad dressings for it too. Despite what the commercials say HFCS is not the same as sugar.

  • lol it definitely tastes different...but not bad. sugar tastes better of course. but it will do as a healthy alternative. i use more milk, creamer, when i use honey :/

however, honey in the oatmeal, with a pinch of salt - delicious!

  • i use honey in everything to sweeten it (incl coffee...) however, because i use so much honey, it does get expensive in comparison to sugar :( so when i'm having to stretch my money, i'm buying sugar. i wish honey was less expensive.

  • @Ellezums coffee? Does it taste diffrent?

  • I use raw honey from whole food. I prefer it over regular refined honey. BTW, I love Whole Food.

  • I love honey, but would have never thought of using it in my coffee. I don't use white sugar, but Sugar in the Raw, which is brown. Well I began using honey after seeing your video, and I really like it. I thank you for this info and helping me get back to a healthier lifestyle in what I eat/drink. Be well!

  • i loooove honey. you can even use it for a facial scrub. my favorite is honey, sea salt and a little bit of lemon. its great for an exfoliator and SUPER moisturizing and my skin feels amazing afterwards.

  • I love using it in my black teas, since i hate coffee. My roommate drinks it, so i always wake up going "That smells sooo good" then i try it and remeber why i hate the stuff. Smells good, but tastes like a tire.

  • I've been cutting back on white sugar as well and I use honey a lot. I've wondered about using it in coffee, but I wasn't sure that would taste good. Does it taste the same as when you use sugar? I thought honey would make it taste weird.

  • I use to eat oatmeal with an butt load of brown sugar.

One day I was just searching through some cabins and found

Honey. Put some in. & Mind blown. It taste exactly like brown sugar

but it's way way way healthier for me. :D

  • wow i just started using honey as a replacement sweetner because my friend said it was better. and i just watched your video, funny :)

  • i need to get some honey. i put white sugar in my tea..not a lot but it's still not good!

  • Xylitol is a great alternative as well! You should check it out and maybe do a vid on it.

  • @jasminebard Too much xylitol can cause diarrhea. I know from experience lol.

  • i read somewhere that once heat is applied to honey, the enzymes that make it so healthy are destroyed. Do you think there is any truth to that idea?

  • Agave nectar is great i prefer it in some things over honey... Maple syrup...stays on my waffles lol

  • I LOVE HONEY!!! I use Raw honey like, virtually every day :) And i wash my face with it too. then i follow up with oil cleansing using 100% castor oil. Raw honey is like my best friends lol :) kidding. but yah... i love it.

  • Had my first cup of coffee with honey today and I'm glad to say it was still good! I am challenged to empty my cabinets of the sugar (white n brown) and then like you shared in another post, when I have a splurge day and have something with sugar in it and experience that gross feeling, I'll hopefully learn my lesson, lol! Thanks for sharing the wealth of knowledge!!

  • honey is processed and pasteurized the best way to get unprocessed honey is using RAW honey.you can use it on your face, hair and in foods.

  • Use honey with powdered sugar, a little milk, vanilla, and a few drops of lemon juice to make a glaze for cookies or a homemade wheat raisin bread.

  • other alternatives, i see some have chimed in --

    agave nectar

    yacon syrup

    grade b maple syrup

    glycerin

    stevia

I use all of the above, including honey. I have no white sugar in my home either. To sweeten items for baking, i use bananas and applesauce with honey or glycerin. Love your channel girl!

  • Even better than honey is grade B Maple syrup.

  • @CherishMyDaughter yessssss its soo good :) water, organic maple syrup and organic lemon juice~ yummy

  • Last semester while at school i became natural and started my diet lifestyle change and i actually started replacing sugar with honey just because i like the buttery sweetness that honey gives and because it is just tastes sooo good. Great video

  • Thanks for the advice. I have heard about a spoonful when you are sick. It's also good for iron if you are deficient.

  • Agave Nectar and Pure Maple Syrup are great alternatives as well!! Thanks so much for sharing!

  • You mentioned that honey should be used in anything warm. In the summer I like iced coffee. So if I'm trying to switch to honey what should I use in things that are cold?

  • @MyWillis21 Agave Nectar is the bomb; don't sleep on it! Agave nectar can be used in hot and cold drinks and its about the same price as honey.

  • did u know that honey is basically bee vomit! lol :) fun tid bit from animal planet lol (i love honey)

  • what do you do when baking cakes and things of that sort?

  • Also Greenleaf brand Stevia. you can get it at wholefoods. The only other place I know of is online.

  • Also Greenleaf brand Stevia.

  • what about agava?

  • 2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar and a tbsp of honey in warm water has worked wonder for my digestion! I use raw honey tho. And organic agave nectar is good too! Love ur videos :o)

  • interesting, didnt know that

  • agave is good too my sis doesnt like it though..

  • I am so addicted to sugar..I bake for a living and tasting those cakes and pies has caused me to gain weight in the belly area..So far, I've been working out for about 2 months and it still hasn't gone down! Any suggestions?

  • What do you think of brown sugar? (non-bleached sugar)

  • @AfroMohawkable Brown sugar is just white sugar with molasses mixed in it to make it brown.

  • @Skyjem1 - Oh holy grossness! Thanks for the heads-up!

  • @Skyjem1 There's also an organic brown sugar that is different from the "light" and "dark" brown sugars.

  • how do u calculate the difference of honey to sugar when baking or cooking in recipe?

  • That's a good point. I should really try to eat less sugar. (Esp. considering diabetes runs in my family.) Thanks for the reminder.

  • I live in the land of ragweed (Michigan). Daily I eat a teaspoon of locally harvested honey with bee pollen in it to help combat my allergy to nature. This helps build an immunity to the things in my area to which I am allergic. Last spring through fall, when I suffer the most, I only needed to take three antihistamine pills the entire season...IT WORKS!! well at least for me, give it a try what have you got to lose?!

  • Glad you're better. I love raw honey, the wildflower honey and agave nectar from whole foods! I can't remember the last time i bought white sugar either. If we think about it white sugar is just a 'legal' substance that is highly addictive and people get a "sugar rush" from. Not good for us.

  • i rarely buy white sugar too but if i am baking then i will use it. I use honey in my teas too and my porridges. Have your heard of agave and we also have another honey substitute here called free from and it basically preserved fruit juices as fruit juices are great natural sugars for our body than extrinsic sugars. agave and freefrom are Mainly for those who worry about the use of bees ( vegans).

  • so glad to hear you are doing better , thanks for sharing , i am going to try using honey in my tea , because i am always using white sugar , thanks for sharing :)

  • I LUv honey! Happy your doing better!

  • Try honey on toast or use it in place of syrup on your french toast. It tastes so much better. :-d

  • Glad to see you are doing better. I have been on honey for years now. It is very beneficial for people dealing with arthritis.

  • Glad you are feeling better. Honey is very good for you. I have been on it instead of sugar for years. This is also very beneficial for people with arthritis.

  • Thanx for the tip!

  • Orange blossom honey is fantastic in tea! Agave nectar is great too...honey tasting!

  • Just a side note: I keep expecting James Taylor to start singing (from your intro music). Love your vids. God bless. Keep rising.

  • OMGOODNESS!! I CAN'T BELIEVE IM JUST NOW FINDING OUT ABOUT THIS CHANNEL! Love it Love it!!! :0)

  • Great tip! Another great thing about honey is that it never goes bad. It will crystallize in the jar as it ages, but it's one of the only natural foods that never spoils.

Another great natural sweetener is organic raw blue agave syrup. I like to use this sometimes too, because it has a really low rating on the glycemic index (meaning it won't spike your blood sugar the way white/processed sugars will). Plus, it's a little sweeter than honey, so I can use less, which means less calories!

  • Ty!

  • My kids all laugh at me because I don't buy sugar anymore. LOL! I buy honey, agave nectar and grow stevia (yummy!) Thanks for sharing!

  • Please be sure to tell your viewers NEVER give raw honey to an infant (0-12months). Honey has botulism spores. Adults and older children can break them down harmlesly in therir GI tract but it can release a toxin in the GI tract of an infant and make them sick and possibly cause death..sorry to be a wet blanket. Otherwise this is a good substitue for some uses instead of sugar.

  • make sure its raw to regular honey is processed and bleached

  • so I can put honey in my coffee??

  • $7 is expensive! lol i love agave nectar! :) its good and a little goes a long way!

  • Skim milk is is a processed food, why consume it?. In order to absorb the fat soluble vitamins present in milk, fat is needed. if you must drink milk, organic whole milk is better

  • DearNaptural85 = brown sugar.

  • Good tip. I also use unrefined brown sugar for my cereal, teas, coffee etc. I know some ppl don't like honey very much but different brands usually have their own unique taste.

  • I love Agave nectar!

  • @babynae00 I agree with you, I love Agave Nectar also!!!!

  • There are also grades of honey that have very strong antibacterial properties (+16) called Manuka honey. Do the research, look it up and take a spoonful of this every day (not as a sweetener because it is about $36 for 12 oz). I use this with water and lemon to make a great drink for colds, sore throats and other ailments. I'm experimenting with it on my eczema.

  • Love these tips!! Keep em comin!

  • Honey also helps reduce allergy symptoms

  • hmm i love honey.. need to use more. x

  • Wow, what an awesome tip! Simplistic & true :)) Plz make more vids like this. You look like u are in great shape. How did u get those fabulous arms, girl!!! I need help in this area & I will take all the tips I can get! lol

  • I have to say thank you the French Toast you mad tastes great O my Gosh i have made it three times now and the Turkey Burgers were awsome as well thanks and keep opsting the food entrys please they are helping me w/my weight loss so thanx again

  • Hilarious. I know you were trying to make a point but this ad for High Fructose Corn Syrup was just sitting right under your face!:(

  • Ahh man I HATE HONEY man I wanted to try this but I really can't stand the smell and taste =(

  • @crazydivaliciouschic Try agave nectar. Has a honey consistency but taste nothing like honey. It is so good even my kids love it.

  • @keepinthefaith3 Oh cool never heard of it but I'll definitely check that out thanks =)

  • Can u use it in cold cereal?

  • very great video

  • Oh, and I'm glad you (and the cats lol) are feeling better!

  • I never added sugar to my food, but I do eat a spoonful of honey every once it awhile :) Yummy!

  • thanks for posting :D

  • Great healthy eating tip! I'm definitely going to incorporate this one into my healthy living lifestyle! Thanks girlie!

    ♥♥♥♥ Viva

  • Allergic to honey :(

  • also, i read that you should buy honey from one source(e.g. honey from usa. not honey from usa and mexico, or germany and another country.) also read it's better to buy local honey. are these myths in your opinion? anywho, i'm glad you're feeling better and the a c is back on cause this heat is something else. take care and believe me i'm staying hydrated.

  • you said this was organic honey. is it better to eat raw unprocessed unfiltered honey- vs- regular/organic honey? i read the raw honey is better for you b/c it has all the vitamins/nutrients.

  • Hey Naptural85 I would also like to suggest using Palm Sugar vs. Honey....Google it and let me know what you think...

  • Make sure it's PURE honey! If the ingredient list on the back has water, honey and added sugar...then it's not good. Make sure it only says HONEY as the ingredient. Some companies will trick ya'!! :O) Just a quick tip...

  • I think I favour agave nectar a bit more... my childhood HATRED of honey may have tricked down to adulthood....

  • Thanks! :)

  • yeah boy! honey is kind of controversial but i dig it. i only use honey and dates & love both. Stevia is very good bc it doesn't raise the glycemic index...(sounds like you may have heard different??) but i don't like the taste. Agave is probably overrated but still better than processed sugar.

  • I love honey! I always use it in my tea. Great tip!

  • I use organic agave nectar syrup or 100% organic maple grade A (or B) syrup.

  • Yesss I do this as well. Taste great on waffles with alittle peanut butter!

  • You can also use Stevia. It is a herbal sweetner that is sweeter than sugar but it does not raise insulin levels.

  • Won't using honey change the taste of the food a little bit? I like to eat oatmeal and whatever I put in there I can easily taste. Although I've gotten used to a lot of foods I didn't like. Like whole grain bread, carrots, and putting flax seeds in my oatmeal. I think I'll try the honey in my oatmeal for breakfast tomorrow. Thanks for the tip!

  • LOL I put honey in my coffee at home and my mother thanks i am crazy for doing that . GREAT TIPS

  • LOL I even put honey in my coffee at home and my mother thanks i am crazy for doing. GREAT TIPS

  • I am going to try that... thanks for sharing... ! You Rock... as always!!!

  • Hoey also helps with asthma.....

  • too bad I'm allergic to honey! but great tips naptural :D

  • Thanks you for that! That will help me out alot....im slowly trying to change the way I eat and what I eat. It will be interesting to see how honey will taste in my coffe thought, lol

  • What about raw sugar I use that as much as I can instead of processed white sugar, or u saying that it is bad for u too?

  • have you tried Organic grade B maple syrup? Much more vitamins than the honey check it out. The "Dark organic grade B maple syrup"

  • Raw Sugar???

  • I've been replacing my pancake syrup with honey too. SO YUMMY!

  • OMG!! I call it a lifestyle change too!!!

  • what about brown sugar?

  • It's funny that you did this video! A friend of mine and I are starting a sugar fast, mainly white sugar, so thanks for the video Naptural85!

  • Haha! Awesome! Love to help amirah1011! <3

  • Hey Whitney, I recommend "Fit For Life" by Harvey Diamond. Super lifestyle changing book. I think you would like it :)

  • OOh! Thanks dizlee86!! I'll look it up! <3 <3

  • I love that you said dieting to you is more of a lifestyle change. I really appreciate that. Some people must not understand what in the world I'm talking about when I say that. I just bought some honey last week ^_^

  • Haha! Awesome! Thanks Carameeyah, yea, people put such a negative connotation on a word that is meant to represent a way of LIVING, not Deprivation <3

  • love my honey and blue agave nectar =]

  • I actually started buying the raw sugar, its brown and very grainy in texture. However, the honey is great as well. Thanks.

  • @VickyVue Ahh! Yes! "Sugar in the Raw!" I loved that brand! <3

  • thanks for the tip. ;-)

  • Hey naturalhairful! No problem! <3

  • I was thinking about getting some organic honey next week. Thanks for reminder and the information:)

  • Haha, no prob Alisha10000000! <3

  • Love honey, but ... team stevia!!!

  • @nonfictions Lol! <3

  • dearnaptural85 got partnered!!!????!??? BALLIN'~!

  • @smilechild96 how do you know?

  • @steffiejulia naptural already put up her banner. Only partner's can have banners and hers is right above her video next to where the video count is.

  • @smilechild96 LOLOL!!!! OMG, you guys are HILARIOUS! <3 <3

  • I love HONEY! You can also mix it with oils or conditioner and apply it to your hair as DC or pre-poo. It's very moisturizing.

  • can honey be anything but organic? regardless raw honey is best.

  • Hey luvsbuffgurls! Oh yea! There's many modified/diluted honey brands on the market! <3

  • @DearNaptural85 o wow never came across diluted honey but i like raw honey. have you ever tried it? it's honey that's removed with litttle heat so all the pollen and other stuff is captured and not lost; it's supposed to have more health benefits than regular honey

  • can i make kool-aid with honey lol?

  • @fevoxo Right! That's my concern, there are somethings you can't substitute honey for! Lol.

  • @fevoxo notice she said "anything thats WARM that you use sugar in, you can put honey in there" :D

  • @fevoxo LOL!

  • @fevoxo lmaooooo

  • @fevoxo Shoot, It is well worth a try!!!! I will purchase some kool-aid the next time I go to the grocery store and experiment with it to see if it would taste good or not. I will let you know, I'll be your test dummy!!!! LOL!!!

  • @fevoxo haha! go ahead and put white sugar in it!

  • @fevoxo As long as it dissolves I think it'd be alright. I'm curious to how that would taste tho lol. I might make a small batch to see if I like it.

  • @fevoxo LOLLOLLOL

  • @anissa4334 lol i'm serious

  • Lol! Hey fevoxo! Yup! If you mix it long enough! The only drawback is that you will be able to taste the honey.. I like the taste, but you may not... If you don't like the taste, you can cut it by adding a citrus, like fresh lemon or fresh lime. Yummy! <3 <3

  • thxs so much. that was a great tip. Will definitely apply that to my diet, cause i cant live without my coffee

  • Trader Joe and Whole Foods both carry a GREAT granulated organic raw cane sugar. it is unbleached and AWESOME alternative to the white stuff !!!

  • Im going to try it in my oatmeal.

  • GOOD TIP

  • stevia is terrible lol. but honey and agave nectar yummmmh lol love it

  • I love Stevia!!

  • agave nectar, grade a maple syrup(the real stuff) and honey is my thing. i want to try date sugar.

  • great tip, i prefer raw honey. once you go raw honey, there's not turning back. i too never buy white sugar. additional sweetners that i use are agave, maple syrup & dates.

  • I'm vegan so i really enjoy agave nectar when i'm missing honey. thanx for sharing this with us

  • I love honey! Brown rice syrup is really good too! I love to bake so I use the vegan sugar. thanks for the tip!

  • oh, you got to try organic coconut palm sugar. :)

  • @organicloc i've heard about this for the first time last week. where do you purchase yous? i think someone recommended the nutiva brand or something like that. what are your recommendations?

  • @Titus2Chic hi! i purchase the coconut sugar from wholesfood. i never heard of nutiva? if you mean stevia. I don't like the taste of stevia. i only use agave and coconut sugar. try one of them. they are very good :)

  • @organicloc I also agree. Coconut palm sugar (Whole Foods Market) is really good and is seemingly more healthy than other forms of sugar. BUT people need to remember that sugar is sugar (maple, honey, fructose, agave, etc.) and our body processes it all the same, the only difference is the additional nutrients that some forms have (like fruit) and the glycemic index of the sugar. Sugar should be used sparingly, added sugar isn't needed in our diets as we get it from fruits, veggies, and carbs.

  • @moss9079 you are 100% right.

  • I'm still on the fence about what to use more of in my house. I've used organic sugar and stevia leaf for about 8 years now. I only use honey in teas (have used it for baking though). I feel like my research is old, ugh. Every time I feel like I am doing the right thing for my family, something else pops up!

I do love organic brown sugar in my coffee though, and stevia is good in it too, but I haven't tried honey yet... oh the adventures!

  • Lol! Hey suqiit! You're doing everything right! There's no one correct fix! There's many ways to eliminate processed sugar, so no need to " keep up with the jones's, find what YOU like best and stick with that! <3 <3 <3 <3

  • You can also use Agave, Grade B Maple Syrup or even Dates.

  • @ImQueenVirtuous great tip! i agree! and personally prefer Agave and Maple Syrup. Maybe its the vegan in me. lol!

  • Mm, sounds great ImQueenVirtuous ! <3

  • Have you tried agave nectar? I love the light. It doesn't raise your triglicerides and is a great humectant in homemade potions/butters.

  • Hey speerrituall1! I used to see it a lot when I used to work for Trader Joes, but never tried it. I'm sure it's good to use, but I've been using honey for so long, I just haven't looked into it! <3
