  • This music never dies, one of the best songs that came out in the 1940's. Thanks for posting

  • This record was the first megahit for James. Timeless and gorgeous!

  • Catherine just responded to me that this rendition is "dreamy"; let us hear it for one of the great trumpet players of the 20th century.

    Thanks for the posting

  • uno de los temas "Hanna y sus hermanas" de Woody Allen, excelente película...maravillosa música que seleccionó Woody!!!

  • Cuando muera, sabré que llegué al cielo si me encuentro bailando este tema con Marlon Brando....

  • Loved Harry James and played this record constantly when I was in my early teens.

  • All I can say is "Oh, my gosh." I am speechless for once except that my husband, Brian, saw Harry James in Vegas before he was shipped off to Vietnam. He said that he was the "greatest."

  • I'm sorta ashamed to say a Woody Allen film brought me here.

    But not really.

  • @sondrebeatlebaker Hannah and Her Sisters? ;)

  • Harry James was the best !!

  • Superb.TY ty 525wireman for posting.

  • If this is a '41 photo then he probably switched from a standard format trumpet to the balanced model Selmer shown in the above photo possibly after '38 as a photo in A Pictorial History of Jazz [page 164] shows the '36 to '38 lineup of Chris Griffin,Ziggy Elman and Harry.

  • this song reminds me of my childhood. My dad always played this song to me. I didn't know what the song was called until now. Thank you.

  • Just listen to that sound absolutely terrific ? Harry-James at his best I have not

heard this one for such a long time ,takes me back to my dance-hall days,

standing bye the stage gazing at the trumpet player ,i do not think they do that

    to-day what a shame ,northjean1 ,

  • Wow!

  • nobodies quite as famous as harry james is. as was said in the war years.still true today.

  • @joemusictube

watch it, not sure about Louis A comment!;) to each his own, but you have to check out who Harry James gave props to about his sound....Louis A of course, and was a pallbearer, so your opinion may have differed from Harry's own opinion vs. Mr. Armstrong:) But yes, I LOVE HARRY JAMES, and if I could play like either he or LA, I would go Harry

  • the ultimate in romantic ... no doubt.. makes me misty just hearing the first couple notes.

  • Nothing better than a rainy day, your woman, your record player, and this album.

  • Er, this isn't the original version of "You Made Me Love You." Look up Al Jolson -- I believe his recording of it came out in 1913, which is also the year the song was initially written.

That said, I tend to prefer this version, myself.

  • Harry jamrs was the master of the trumpet and during the war years was a plesure to listen too and madec one think of the old days

  • This Wonderful Song and I Were Both Born In 1941,Thats Why I Love It Sooo Much !

  • My favorite Harry James recording.

  • This may be one of the best popular love songs ever and he may be one of the best musicians. Sometimes I watch "Hannah and Her Sisters" yet again just for that wonderful sound track!

  • this is so beautiful and so 40s!!!..i LOVE it!!!

  • @525wireman-This was not recorded in 1950 but January 1941.This was song was in the top 10 on December 7th,1941,I have seen the list

  • @generationll

You are correct. I don't remember how I got the wrong info for this song. When you click on Harry James under my video, it takes you to Helen Ward's bio. Blame YouTube!

  • @525wireman YOu made me love you was recording in the 20s by Ruth Etting ( Vocals)

It's a torch song about unreturned love

  • many have tried to play like Harry but none are even close to his perfection with the horn.

  • Does anybody know the name(s) of the trombonist(s) of Harry James' Orchestra?

  • One of the greatest trumpet players of all time!!

  • great.................

  • Harry james's trumpet is heavenly

  • Right at the top is where he belongs. Sitting next to Bunny Berigan, Louis Armstrong and a few others.

  • God, she's beautiful...

  • @levanyzzuf

    She???

    Hallowed be His name!

  • @Thunkful2 It's a quote from Hannah and Her Sisters, perhaps the only film where this song features prominently.

  • Reminds me of Saturday mornings in the car as a kid with my mom, when she forced me to listen to WNEW (1130), the old AM standards/big band station in NYC (now defunct). It wasn't until I was older that I realized how much I love and appreciate the timeless beauty of this music. Go Harry!

  • recorded early 40's , i think

  • love this music too james v monaco is my grandfathers cousin, he wrote the music for this song

  • Kehman6444-Late 1940 0r early 1941.This was top 10 songs across America on December 7,1941

  • Absolutely beautiful. Since I was a kid I have loved this music and always been a little odd for my age group (I'm 25) If this is "odd" for my age, bring it on cause this music beats anything they are making today!

  • Do any know when this recording was made? I tend to associate this music[incredible music] with the World War II period.

  • I love it. I think of my mom. Rip.

  • The only thing rap is missing? The C in front of it.... Whereas you get Crap...

  • It's beatiful play.

  • Memories of the Fifties

  • @trumpsahead oh just shut up. I can't stand know-it-alls like you. "RMendez was great but dont know if he could improvise, which I think I will research." LOL you must feel so sophisticated abbreviating names and saying you'll do research. Mendez was a much different kind of musician than James, James much different from Brown, Brown much different from Sandoval. There are no facts involved, it's all opinion. And as for technical aspects, each one of them has strengths and weaknesses.

  • Well said generationII - Rap is nothing more than ridiculous noise performed by those devoid of talent for the edification of those devoid of good taste!!!

  • my favorite song ...used to sing it with my family my dad was in the orchestra in the early years lots of good memories...

  • The BIG BAND ERA was a great one..so was the FOLK ERA and the British Invasion and ELVIS. You can take heavy metal and Rap and the like....it should not be considered music AMEN

  • We will take Harry James. This song was my introduction to him in 1991 on the 50th Anniversary of December 7,1991

  • The greatest trumpeter of the 20th Century. This is the 1st song Harry James song I ever remember hearing in asoociation with the 50th Ann of December 7th,1941

  • this is the original version, and one that can't be duplicated in both arrangement and quality, whether it's now or 1,000 years from now you have to put harry james at the very top of all time musicians

  • This is the version I have...it might be the original...love it!

  • This Was My Mom and Dads song...many many moons ago." I Love You and Miss You More Than You Will Ever Know " One Day We Will All Be Together Again....Never To Part... Always, Patricia

  • One of the most beautiful recordings I've heard in a long time! Thanks for posting.

  • Thanks so much for this Harry James song.

Wondering if you have a Tommy Dorsey
