Thanks, that really helped a lot and it was easy as pie. I had two of these computers, one broken, but likely the DVD rom was not. thanks for the help.
yes, the basic model fits in the most models. it's equl if it's from samsung or from toshiba, or from ... without the frontpannel they all the same and mostly compartible (in the mechanical way). for a ODD you don't need drivers.
there are also some slim ODD's in some laptops, and it also gives some ODD's they "absorb" the cd's.
Thanks! Turns out I will not be needing a new one. Mine had a problem with latching properly, but thanks to your video I was able to take it out, figure out what was wrong with it, and fix the fucker myself! Actually, I was ready to send my comp off to a repair shop! so glad i didnt.
I Just want to ask which part of the optical drive am I not suppose to touch? I was inserting my dvd into my optical drive when I accidentically touch the bottom side of it to support my optical drive cos I placed my laptop on a cooling pad. would it damage my optical drive?
hey, i would like to know if this can be done with any type of laptop in the same way. I have an advent laptop and it jus dusnt read discs so im replacing it and it pops out every time i close it furthermore i thank you for making this video please respond to my comment
The Devices are standardized. So if you want replace it the most Devices apply and you only must change the frontpanel and the mount/mounting frame like in the video.
Depends on the age - some older laptops have specialized connectors for the optical but most late model drives use generic drives - faceplates may differ and some are screwed on, some clipped like shown. Not all optical drives are this easy, some have screws under the keyboard, some have latches and some have pop out lock levers.

Do cd rw dvd rom drives work on all laptop computer makes and models? Are they all the same? Do they need any kind of driver software? Thanks!

can you use a old laptop and replace it with a blu ray
driftking00345 2 years ago
The device fit in, but it can't read the blue-ray disks, cause they have to high requirements.
