  • WTF WHY ARE THERE 5 OPTIMUS PRIMES!!?? D=<

  • Comment removed

  • What the--- autobots cant fly.

  • @TheGr8assFr8ass Wheeljack, Sideswipe and Gears can for a short period of time.

  • 0:04 the pipe is bent lol

  • I had no idea Transformers was made up of 3 different Japanese toylines...ah, the things you learn on Wikipedia...

  • very cool commercial

How would you like to have half a dozen optimus primes coming at you all at once

    Crazy

  • The Japanese sure put alot more effort into their toy commercials than the Americans did

  • This commercial is 100x better then those stupid Michale Bay movie versions!

  • Awesome comercial I used to love these adds

  • ha, primes orginal name was battle convoy.... sweet

  • Diaclone Battle Convoy is real cool and I'm planning to get myself 2 of them (brand new and unused) from Japan in the near future. I aso realise that Diac;lone Battle Convoy is now very hard to find anywhere in the West and very expensive too

  • This is the original Transformer

  • This is a cool video. Thanks for uploading it.

  • Wo, I think most of the Diaclones had different colour schemes to the later transformers but Prime looks EXACTLY the same, except for the diaclone sign on the trailer. Hey also isn't that Jazz at 0:08? Or on the right at 0:15?

  • Battulo Conovoyu !

  • batoru konboi.

  • I see a (red) Sunstreaker, Jazz and Wheeljack at 0:14?

  • That's Sideswipe. Sunstreaker has the exposed super-tuning engine.

  • Wow what a discover! Amazing!

  • Transformers was based on a japanese toy line. It wasn't a cartoon until the toys were shipped to the states where the cartoon was made to attract a bigger audience. That's probably why the G1 Shockwave and Jetfire are slightly modified Macross toys.

  • Shockwave is not a macross toy, Jetfire was.

  • Were did you get this footage?

  • Old commercial that I had in my collection of videos I use to record when I was a kid.

  • hey autobots cant fly

  • Did you even read the title or description?

  • This is fucking amazing, thanks for postting this.

  • lol 2 the whole thing lol

  • Thankyou! epic win!

  • ahh back in the day when optimus actually had a trailer. i miss that. seriously what happened to the trailer in the toys. the only other one i know of is the armada one but that was a necessary part of his transformation

  • Yeah even my 4 year old nephew prefers that. He's seen all the "red trucks" (Optimus Primes) but the only one he's always asking to play with is the one with the trailor. He loves the trailer. It's his favorite.

  • Before Hasbro licensed these, Takara sold a few pre-Autobot cars in the USA as "Diakron," which didn't do so well. I remember them at K-Mart.

  • did ye buy them?

  • No all the boxes were opened by other kids so I just played with it in the store.

  • "no all the boxes were opened by other kids so I just played with it in the store"

    epic lmao

isn't that illegal now...no it's not but you open or use anything within a store you need to buy it straight up

  • I used to have a few of the Diakrons, or Diaclones as people call them today. I had a few of them, even one like Iron Hide, but it was painted black. When Transformers came out, I recognized the same body styles, just painted different. I really wished I had them still. I remember the little guys that came with the toys that were metal bodies, plastic limbs and had magnets on thier feet.

  • Well... I think if Hasbro hadn't made the series, TF would have been all like the masterforce saga

  • That's true in the Diaclone story the robots were controlled by people and didn't have personalities.

  • God I loved this type of animation (it's stop motion right?) took me right back to the years of TUGS (Whoever can remember that) and thunderbirds, etc. TF Rules!

  • I really dig the Godzilla landscape setting! Where Mothra be at?!

  • between my friends and i we had just about every transformer and gi joe.... we would go out in the woods and set up a huge battle royal... i was always cobra/decepticons. good times... good times.

  • If only I was born in that generation where kids were so in to that stuff........

  • AGAIN with the flying! Woo...

  • I love these old Diaclone ads. Awesome "Battle Convoy" of 5 'Optimus Primes' in the heat-hazed road. How crazy is the upright base mode for the trailer section, complete with little human drivers! The sound effects & animation rule too!

  • oh yeah this from the original japanese Diaclone line

  • Sounds like me... I did have fun building a few buildings as a kid out of leggos, where a transformer would like be hurled into a building smashing one side... I would take like a hour building a town, and 2 minutes wrecking it. I totally remember the jungles, I alwasys said to myself... how did these kids build this set?

  • Dude! That's what I used to do! I had those giant sized fischer-price building blocks, so I ended up with towers my height. Megatron and his buddies had a lot of fun knocking that down... TF #1

  • good i am not alone for doing those things, I also had the lincon logs, and those big fisher blocks too. man, that was many a year ago.

  • cool theres prawl in there

  • not weird dude. hasbro the makers of transformers are japanese. it was invented in japan

  • It's in Japanese? How weird!

  • the transformers toys originated in japan in about 1978 i think or somewhere around that time

  • your right you know

  • If they made ads like this in America some dumb ass would sue for false advertising once they would find out the toys won't move on their own. I live among fools.

  • I bet they would have to put a discalimer under it saying "Robots do not move on own" also they might have to put in ther "sold seperately," and "does not fly" and lightning sparks do not happen :D"

  • The Saturday morning network versions of Transformer commercials were different in that they showed all the parts of the toy laid out against a plain background.

  • nett,die Stimme ist geil

He has got a nice Voice :D

  • They really put effort and money into making this, in contrast to the cheap Hasbro counterparts with annoying kids moving the toys around to save budget.

  • Ahhhh, ya don't get cool ads like THAT anymore...

    I can see a yellow Trailbreaker & a red Sunstreaker too...Madness!!

  • Convoy rises to heaven like Jesus.

  • convoy IS jesus

  • LMAO

  • Wait, did anyone notice that tow truck in the back? I don't remember him ever in the line of American Autobots...

Who knew that Op could fit inside his own trailer? It's like a tomb! How odd.

  • The tow truck was hoist, which was painted green and orange. Actually he was the same mold as Trailbreaker.

  • Oh waiiiit, yeah yeah, he was the twin that actually had a modification, a rarity. I guess I just never found a tow truck that cool to play with and forgot about it. ^^

  • i wish they put subtitels

  • I have to hand it to the japanese they make good TF adds.

  • Really cool commercial, thanks!!!

  • AH cool, loads of wheeljack :)

  • whats with wheeljack doing a superman impression rofl

  • no thats not true theres also overide=light convoy

  • I think in America showing him transforming on his own would be considered false advertising... -_-; Awesome commercial, though. I thought his name was always Convoy in Japanese?

  • Yep, all the Optimus Related characters are named Convoy in the japanese Transformers, the only non-Optimus with the name "Convoy" is R.I.D. Scourge, named "Black Convoy" G1 Optimus = Convoy G2 Laser Rod Optimus = Battle Convoy Optimus Primal = Beast Convoy Optimal Optimus = Metals Convoy R.I.D. Optimus = Fire Convoy/Super Fire Convoy R.I.D. Omega Prime = God Fire Convoy Armada Optimus = STD Convoy Energon Optimus = Grand Convoy Cybertron Optimus = Galaxy Convoy R.I.D. Scourge = Black Convoy
  • Rodimus Prime/Convoy?

  • The Diaclones now are really expensive in eBay, more expensive than a G1 in perfect condition.

A good relic from the past.

  • i have about 3-40 more Diaclone and other Pre-TF commercials. Eventually i will get around to encoding them and adding them to youtube.

  • @ScottandLetty Great Video

  • man like i never thought that there were diaclone commercials around!very sweet!hands down...

  • That was AWESOME.

  • His name was Battle Convoy. He was a Diaclone before he was a Transformer. XD

  • woa

  • Heh heh.

  • Ha! I wish American toy commercials were that cool.
