got one for $99 at WalMart this weekend, unlocked it with a $2 code from eBay, works great. I was surprised how well it works. now I just need to figure out how to upgrade to Gingerbread from within Linux since I don't have a Windows PC.. might have to visit a friend with one to do it.

@good4damoney yup, you pop open the cover and put in your SIM card, then you dial a number and then enter an unlock code, and you're good to go. Not sure what a minisims is, but it comes with a 2GB microSD card. I just put in a 16GB card to hold all my offline map data for OruxMaps.

@blacksupra001 Even with gingerbread, LG optimus 1 does not run all games. It certainly does NOT run games on the internet (but you can play games you download games from the android market place). You cannot stream movies but, you can watch videos on certain websites. I wouldn't recommend buying the LG optimus 1 if u can afford something more expensive. But, for its price point its a pretty good phone. However its low processing speed means that surfing the web is sometimes annoying.

Im watching this with my new LG optimus one :) my comment for this phone --- This phone may not be fast like iphone 4 or 4S, But this phone can still do the job like iphone. For the people who just want to experience the andriod, then i would totally recommend this :D

@MrVbdude Yeah there is a GPS function with Google Maps that you can use but you need a WiFi connection or 3G data transfer connection which is really expensive if you don't have a contract with your operator. It works pretty well and you can download other GPS apps for it if you want to. There is also a built in 'car mode' function that is quite useful.

The keyboard sucks on this phone. I got this phone and love it, but the keyboard sucks. Downloading or (pirating) apps won't work. So here's what you do, when you get your phone, Google Swype on your phone(this one doesn't come preinstalled) swype is free, and it doesn't have the annoying ads that you'd see when you installed swype like keyboards onto your phone. and its better. It should solved that pesky annoying LG keyboard texting:)

Just bought this phone. Best value for money purchase I ever made in my life. It does everything short of giving you a blowjob. Fantastic phone. It's very easy to use surfing the net is great, gps is great. I highly recommend it. You won't get a better bang for your buck than this phone. I can hardly believe it's so cheap given it does everything I could possibly want.

@matteomolinare Dirt cheap. I got mine for 150 Euro (200 USD) sim free with no lock to any communications company. 2 months later I am still very happy. The only downside is that the processor is a little bit slower but I don't see much of a difference from other Android smart phones. You can get GPS without an internet connection which is great, battery lasts 1-3 days depending on how much you use it.

@ShaelynTai I recommend going to Koodo where they have a "Tab" system. Ultimately you don't pay for the phone since the Tab can cover a max of $150 which is how much this phone is worth. All you'll be paying for is the plan which, in my opinion, Koodo has the best plans ever that are cheap and really flexible.

I read in a few websites that the call quality, i.e the in-call volume was very low; one had to strain to hear what is being said from the other side. So, let alone the unsuitability of this phone as a PHONE in a noisy environment.

Cool, but remember that it's still budget phone. And to be honest you could save some money and buy something better, this phone is on armv6 and have no flash player, and have some other minor things.
