The kid is just spewing the same bullshit his ignorant granola parents are spewing. Electric motors produce OZONE! Much more caustic to your lungs than carbon emissions ever have been. PLUS, where does the electricity come from? The granola thinks it comes from a plug. IT COMES FROM COAL BURNING POWER PLANTS. IF EVERYONE USED ELECTIC CARS WE WOULD BE PRODUCING MORE GREENHOUSE GASES! Idiots, you can't get away from using energy. no matter what you drive, you use fossil fuels!
@theden0minat0r What record are you talking about. Electric cars ARE coal burning cars. If you want to see your electric bills spike, start plugging in millions of coal burning cars at the capacity the trains can deliver the fuel and we are all fucked. Simple equation... Supply and demand.
@irish42matic Produce ozone? Do you know what the ozone layer is...? I can tell you that's false. Even if our electricity was generated 10-% by fossil fuels (which it isn't), a coal fire plant is much more efficient for the energy it creates, than a car. A plant has much tighter restrictions than an individual car, so when you look at the big picture if everyone drove electric cars it would use a lot less fossil fuels.
@GofCis Take a basic science class before you respond with you ignorant comment. Electric motors PRODUCE ozone. In the ozone layer it's not toxic. BUT breathing ozone is toxic. Hence OZONE alerts in all major cities when the temps rise. Coal burning is efficient, however, if we double the electrical demand, there is no way the coal plants can keep up with the demand. Face it, humans use energy and a diverse form of energy is the only way we can keep costs down.
@sexyngayCO can you and irish stop CAPITALIZING EVERY OTHER WORD! Thank you. Electric BRUSHED motors produce ozone, most electric cars have BRUSHLESS motors. Like you said, we NEED to diversify our form of energy. Coal, gas, DIESEL, it's all in the same family, HYDROCARBONS. With MORE an more "clean" sources of electricity, an electric car is getting better and BETTER. In short, suck my NUTS.
I to want electrican car, that is very importand thing. I am writing form Poland. Why dont like russia. When russia doesn t hac a money form oil. We can god sleep.
Hydrogen does NOT pollute. You can create hydrogen from methane (CH4) which does release carbon dioxide, but hydrogen technology is going for creating fuel cells from water. I built one for 6th grade science fair, and it releases no emissions .
@flokoflyngsegals Yes, Electric cars are more expensive, but they might not always be. Also, the electric cars that were built then, and are being built today have to pass the safe safety standards as any other car. They're probably not as dangerous as you think.
@th3muff1nman True, but it requires quite a bit of electricity to create enough hydrogen to power a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle. Much more electricity than it would needed to just plug in your electric car.
@theden0minat0r Uhm, actually no. The energy loss in a fuel cell is no more than in batteries. Look it up, im 99% sure this is true. Granted, fuel cells are much more costly as of now. Most people assume that to power a fuel cell car hydrogen will have to be trucked around when in face producing hydrogen by electrolysis is very simple. I did it for my 6th grade science project. So that eliminates the transportation of fuel if youProduceItAt home.ItWouldBeAlmostExactlyLikePluggingInBatteries.
God damn those corrupt government officers. I saw "who killed the electric car" movie in science class and it completely changed my world. It is is so blatantly obvious that our government is corrupt that it bewildered me that nothing has happened yet. THE GOVERNMENT IS THE PLAGUE AND THE CURE IS A REVOLUTION!!!
I love this video. Please let us know who made it, with date. And if you can create a song with your electric guitar and make it rhyme with electric car, then do that too!
Lithium Ion batteries with only 500 cycles won't do 250,000 miles life in most automotive applications, more like 100,000-125,000 miles life. NiMH batteries could do so easily, however, but Chevron has control over the technology. Further, NiMH batteries only give about half the range and power per unit weight as Li Ion batteries do. On the plus side, NiMH have a shelf life in decades, wheras Li Ion will last only up to 10 years.
Yes. Aerovironment tested them to thousands of cycles. But they are currently not 'off the shelf' products you can buy like 18650s used in the Tesla. Nor is it certain what their costs would be in volume. Argonne National Laboratories quoted $250/kWh for Li Ion in mass production of EVs. Altair's batteries are groundbreaking and will exceed the capabilities of NiMH if their shelf life is good.
2/3 of oil use in this country is in transportation. Every little bit counts. I don't buy into global warming hype but you know what I do buy into? Wackjobs in the middle east being removed from our economy and having no further effect on our national security. It needs to be grassroots to take hold.

@irish42matic Just for the record, that is completely factually untrue...
