how hard is it to install nitro knobs ?? and yeah it is a bit bright i like to leave mine on channel 9 at night during storm season so i would definatly like to have a dimmer knob on mine as well
@bluejay148 I haven't herd of that one Cobra 29 LTD: Receive Boost: Locate pin 14 of the PLL chip, and the Positive (+) side of C-12. Install a 22k-220k ohm resistor between these two points. The smaller the value, the more the receive is boosted. Use CARE when soldering to the PLL chip! If desired, this mod may be wired through a switch.
@oldredneckranger90 to be honest I can't really remember it's been so long ago I think it was a 220k , The smaller the value, the more the receive is boosted. as far as the Potentiometer I have never tried it I really don't know how it would function It would be nice if it did work out Let me know what you come up with sorry couldn't be of more help
@ChopperTCB ok I just installed a 200k ohm pot which was all i could find it seems to be working for me i know i didn't break anything because i talked to a base unit about 20 miles away without running any power from my mobile but i didn't receive anythig from any mobile units, it could be the weather, ill probably run a inline switch to see if it make a difference and ill let you know what i come out with.
@poomuncher5000 I installed everything myself the channel LED was around $8 and I think the knobs were around $40 I could have got them cheaper online but I bought them local and the meter lamp was just a 5mm Blue Led a couple of dollars
it has the cap and resistor mod for better swing, Variable power on the delta tune, and also a receive mod on the bright/dim switch that acts kinda like a pre-amp
@SPINNINGwithJD I Havent ever had that problem I have installed this same mod in about 20 or so 29's make sure all your solder connections are good and that you have the cap installed the right way its probally not anything major let me know 73's
I did all the mods myself the knobs cam from the local radio shop here, but I think you can get them on ebay it isn't really that hard if you have basic wiring skills and don't car to tear you radio all the way down Thanks for the comment hope it helps

@ChopperTCB what resistor value did you use on your radio? I have also seen where you can use a 220k ohm potentiometer would you recommend that?
