  • I'm gonna have to go out on a limb here and say...I don't think the pigeon made it...!!!

  • New York, Paris and Italy need more birds of prey to keep the population of pigeon under control.

  • THAT HAWK DID NOT KILL THAT PIGEON. IT HAS RIGAMORTIS WHICH MEANS THE PIGEON HAS BEEN DEAD FOR QUITE SOME TIME BEFORE THE HAWK FOUND IT. TOTAL SET UP.

  • @richardritchey no it doesnt, what a retarded comment. Ive never seen a sparrowhawk on carrion before.

  • @richardritchey

Maybe people will actually believe you know what you're talking about when you learn to spell rigor mortis.

  • nice!

  • Theres some confusion.First of all, euro sparrowhawks are accipiters(short-winged hawks).Kestrels(commonly called sparrowhawks) are of the falcon family(long wings)with color variations from euro to USA.They are totaly different. Pigeon Hawks are Merlins, also falcons(long wings). America's Sharp shinned and Coopers are also accipiters. Both countries have Goshawks(accipiters) with some structural differences. Euros have huge feet! All first year birds look alot alike with some differences.

  • Thats a peregin falcon, mate. Easy mistake to make, since you live in the Ukraine.

  • Uh oh! Some one broke a tail feather... :( Accipiters are so good at that.

  • @KuroHyo Totally true. Sounds like you might be a falconer. We notice things like that! First year birds seem not to give a hoot about what they break or where they chase game into. In their second year, and there afterwards, they become more proficient in their hunting methods and not so much of a "To Hell with caution, Catch it at ALL Costs" attitude. Accipiters are truly a total trip to watch. l saw a female Passage coops chase a sparrow around a bush 3 times in about 2 seconds. Blew my mind.

  • Saw Hawk attack pigeon in the air this morning in Limerick City, Ireland. have yet to upload poor quality video.

  • that is a sharpshinned hawk !!!

  • @guahould, nope Sharp Shinned Hawks only live in North America, this was filmed in the United Kingdom. Sparrow Hawks and Sharp Shined Hawks are related.

  • @guahould YOU are a sharp-shinned hawk, sucka!

  • correct a female sparrowhawk!

  • firstly, coopers & sparrow hawkes although are of the same genus there different species, we dont have coopers here in the uk. secondly thats a female sparrow hawk, males are smaller & would struggle with a pigeon sized bird.

  • in USA call it what you wil

in UK its called a sparowhawk ,not a chicken not a sparrow not a coopers hawk but a sparrowhawk in UK repeat in the UK get it????

  • Yeah I believe that's a coopers hawk. Sparrowhawk's/ Kestrel's have two stripes on each side of their head, one coming down from under their eye and one coming down from behind their eye.

  • It's a Coopers Hawk. Kestrals tail and wings are closer to the same length

  • Without doubt a female spar.

  • the pigion does seem a bit stiff for a fresh kill,so i guess a pet hawk, juvanile female sparrowhawk still has green eyes approx 10 month old if this was filmed in march.

  • It's a male Sparrow Hawk/Kestrel, females look more colorful, males are brownish.

  • better see my post re: twerp a few posts ago!

  • @UnionProduction Nice try but totally backwards. The male Kestrel (a long-winged falcon) is the colorful one with slate blue wings with a rufus (rust colored)back. Look it up. They're different. USA birds have some variation of color from Euro birds. Where the confusion comes in is because Kestrel's are commonly called "Sparrow Hawks". In reality, true "Sparrowhawks" are TOTALLY different birds. They are "Accipiters". Better know as Short Winged hawks. Hope this helps out. Cheers

  • Tastes like chicken.

  • that pigeon looks stiff lols

  • its a sparrow hawk yer bunch o dummies

  • oh dear not another twerp !

its called in the UK a sparrowhawk!

so lets pretend were all over here in the UK OK?

  • I stand corrected. It IS a Goshawk.

  • @Arcticfox36 its a sparra hawk ya divvy.

  • That is a coopers hawk.. the thin body and big head give him away.

  • is it a frozen pigeon?!

  • yeah 2 euros @ Aldi !

  • Well it might be a sharp skinned or coopers hawk in the good ol' USA...but we do not have these breeds of birds in the UK...PERIOD !

this bird over here is called a SPARROWHAWK get it ?

  • That isn't a Sparrow hawk...its a Sharp Shinned or a Coopers Hawk...Probably the later due to its size...They sit on my pigeon coop every day...

  • Not in Europe. Accipiter Nissis.

  • well it may be a sharp skinned or a coopers hawk,

but we dont have them at all in the UK.

so it cant be unless they were stowaways on an aircraft..??

in the UK this bird is called a SPARROWHAWK

    nothing else....PERIOD !!!!

  • @tailfeatherz You ought to be a nice person and open you coupe door. Hawks got to eat too! Besides, that's why God made pigeons, to feed hawks and falcons. Yummmmm!!!

  • Nature is nature. Deal with it. I hunt with a pair of these little falcons. Sparrowhawks, aka Kestrel's, aren't hawks at all, their small member of the falcon family. They also help keep birds away from the local air ports run ways. Before you kill one, the fine will be $5000, it a protected bird of prey just like Eagles, Owls, Hawks and Falcons.

  • that's life. WILD life. :)

  • how many sad persons

are there on you tube ?

as well being rather uneducated you can't even spell!!!

get a life pal.....more to the pont stop playing hookey from school & get an education for your own benefit

  • That pigeon has rigarmortice I think the hawk did not kill it, retard. Maybe you will end up like the pigeon one day. Hope so.

  • @111chazz Ya know, I noticed that too. Pretty stiff for a "fresh caught bird". Whats this guy feeding this bird anyway. At least he could provide a nice "warm" and "fresh" meal.

  • Nom nom nom

  • you nasty arse kill the hawk lol

  • wow.. nice im uploading a video soon of a sparrow hawk that i found

  • i hate sparrow hawks they kill the good birds birds are awsome but this one (and starling sometimes) are big jerks

  • its nature.

  • the other day one of these hawks chased a starling into my patio doors and the bang was well loud n shit me up I have never seen one up close in real life n this starling ran under the garden furniture n the hawk went walking in after him right up by the house evil thing I was banging on the window n it didn't seem to care then this cat came from nowhere rushed the hawk that managed to get out just after a bit of a scrap the starling escaped too well random but one lucky starling.

  • @bensmithkent22 KILL THE CAT, pull your bottom lip over your head and SWALLOW!!!!!!!!! Hawks have to eat too. Too bad it missed the starling.

  • Great Vid! It is always the Law Of The Jungle even for us humans wether we like it or not!

  • i have similar footage on my youtube account...

  • we get sparrow hawks in our garden all the time shame the cat chases them away

  • @muppetman666 KILL THE CAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this happened in out back garden on christmas day! =D only it killed a dove. i tryed to film it but it flew off when i opened the door =(

  • pretty sure that is not a kestrel but i know there are a few types of kestrel but none of them get that large (male or female) so therefore it is not a sparrowhawk i have an american kestrel at my work and i know what they look like.

  • yeah i realised tha..... should have called it Walter !

  • great video! you spell "pigeon" wrong tho, in the opening sequence. Thanks 4 sharing :)

  • i have a beautiful sparrow hawk named talon hes good for rabbits and small game

  • he is brown because SHE is a FEMALE !!!

  • that is surely a sparohawk, he just isn't an adult yet, that's why he is brown

  • the longest distance a zoned tailed hawk has travelled is as far as Nova Scotia in the americas,,it is resident in the americas only.

if you have seen this in my garden in the UK,it must be a worlds first Fancy flying across the Atlantic without a macdonalds in sight...amazing!!!

  • that is a zoned tailed hawk

  • It is soooooo tedious that every North American comments (without knowledge) assuming that every video was shot in their own back yard.

Its not like they google "zone-tailed hawk" first to see if they can learn something.

    Bloody yanks!

  • haha i agree with kokamaru 100%

  • ya i kill those too coz they re chasing my pigeons. they re not cheap ass they re great

  • thats not a sparrow hawk. thats a sharp shinned hawk. an asipitor.

  • not in the UK pal!

  • 100% Sparrow Hawk

  • I shoot those hawks when I catch them chasing my birds!!!!

  • when you get caught you will be doing some time

hawks are doing there job-who gives a crap about your fucking cheap ass pigeons

  • @kokumaru I gotta say RIGHT ON BRO! Pigeons were made to fly falcons and accipiters at.

  • but they're so much more intelligent than pigeons.. dont do it!

  • Very nice, good share!

  • Insert "tastes like chicken" joke here.

  • Make that sparrow hawk rake up those feathers.

  • yeah. i love it.

  • A bird eating a bird.

    Now that some strange shit.

  • what a beauty, silent killer that strikes with devastation.

  • beutiful bird

  • thats a female eurasian sparrowhawk brilliant use in falconry Ive got one!not very old!

no spars do not eat all the song birds but if they did then they would not have any food left!

  • Excellent video, thanks for sharing.

The correct indentification is juvenile Eurasian Sparrowhawk.

And, it is very likely that the bird caught th pigeon itself. All animals only go stiff for a short amount of time, and pretty quickly after death too. Also against the idea the bird found the pigeon- I have never heard of one feeding on a dead bird it has found.

  • You got that right 100percent! (it's a female)

the bird did in fact catch the pigeon...my wife saw it!

  • nice, close-up shots! great film!

  • How cool is this ! (sad for the pigeon). However - nice photo op.

  • looks more like a female crabsters grayling to me!

  • That Pigeon Iz Stiff Az!!

  • that bird is a jerk

  • n. goshawk Accipiter gentilis, juv

  • but not for 100% i need to saw him in flight

    and pardon my english

  • hmm..does look a bit stockier like a Gos but most likely a Spar. How can you say Spars are the reason that songbirds are getting rarer, that is domestic cats and people.

  • well thanks for your comment fred....

I can assure you that it was NOT as you suggested

we live on the edge of the countryside here and my view is live & let live & let mother nature take her course, thanks for the interest anyway!

  • The sparrowhawk didn't kill that pigeon, it was already dead or was thrown out. The pigeon is as stiff as a board, a fresh killed pigeon wouldn't be stiff. Looks like a staged video!

    Fred

  • thanks for your comment mikew165,

unfortunately the coopers hawk is only found on the american continent.

So in the UK (this bird might look quite similar to a coopers, but they are not native to our shores i'm afraid) it's called a sparrowhawk.

  • it's a young coopers hawk!

  • it is a female sparrowhawk!we get goshawks here aswel but this is defo a spar!-shoot em all anyway-all they do is wipe out song birds and weve none left as it is.

  • funny thing is that i doubt that from your posts on the eating dove alive vid you havent figured out that its acctually pigeons that kill off songbirds, they eat all the food in the area and have so many babies that they just out-compete, and they are what ends up attracting the hawks.

  • what a muppet-i used to fly hawks and now keep pigeons-you know shit!song birds hardly hibitate towns where 99.9%of pigeons are!

  • sparrow hawks only do well in areas where there are plenty of small birds. where there are none, the sparrow hawks cant live.. sparrow hawks are not to blame for your lack of small birds in the area... more likely its cats and people who think its a good idea to shoot things that are the problem

  • in the uk they are called sparrowhawks (actually this one is a female)you can call them what you want in usa

    p.s. please don't shout it's bad manners...thankyou

  • THIS IS NOT A SPARROWHAWK! This is a juvinile goshawk!
