Interesting point in Jordan's career...1992 was one of the rare times, michael still had his high-flying hops AND his fadeway/midrange game. Michael's career could almost be two halves in terms of playing style: the youthful, high-lying MJ of the 80s and the post 1992 Michael shooting mostly jumpers and fadeaways.

I know the most of you will crucifize me for writing this, but I don't care. MJ was a tremendous athlete, but no way he's been the best basketball player of all times. I've seen at least 5 more talented players than him: Magic, Julius Erving, Petrovic and, of course, Sabonis and Larry Bird, the best two players of all time. I never saw Chamberlain or Bill Russell in action, but those 5 I've listed were better and more talented than Jordan

Yes, MJ said himself, that it was like extended season and he was so tired. And no man can play high quality basketball whole year without a rest. So this is why he didn`t jump as high as he used to. During his basebal time his knees got better, becouse he didn`t need to jump.

Also his father died that offseason after he won his third championship. So he decided to play his fathers favorite sport. Another thing he said was that his dad got to see him play his last basketball game.
Many people didn't notice this, but after these Olympics Michael lost his leaping ability somewhat. in the 1992-93 season you didn't see Michael do the same high-flying dunks, I think he wore his legs out after an exhausting playoff run and playing with the Dream team. MJ still had footspeed, but couldn't jump as high. He got his hops back somewhat after coming out of retirement though. but once you hit 30 most high flying players lose their hops, it's starting to happen to Kobe a little now.
well i mean i think that defense got alot better as the 90's progressed not because of MJ losing that jumping ability but even if he did lose "some hops" he still was jumping higher than most of the NBA
It's kind of a mute point, but MJ went almost exclusively to the fadeaway jumpshot in 92-93 because I believe his knees were shot and he couldn't jump. I know because I watched half of the Bulls' regular season and every game of the playoffs. There was even one game when the Bulls were playing in L.A. and Jordan PURPOSEly fumbled the ball out of bounds to avoid having to dunk without hops ( you could see Horace Grant clapping and laughing in the background.) Bulls were still champs so who cares.
Yeah his knees were worn out. The Bulls played 26 games in the 92 playoffs then MJ played some 15 games with the dream team in the Americas tournament and the Olympics. Barcelona was the last of the young, high-flying MJ. I have this theory that MJ planned to take a break to rest his legs then return to the game. Only thing that didn't make sense was him playing baseball...
Well the thing is. Jordan had stated that his play was always worse after he competed in the dunk contest. I think that this is the same kind of thing. Just like was Bill Russell said to Dwight Howard after the finals this year. "Take a break, Your body needs a rest." Jordan was getting up there in age also so he was loosing his leaping ability anyway, but i dont think he did as much as you say.

I'm not saying people like VC, James White, Nique and others didn't have the hops but when you look at these dunks from an aesthetic perspective, no-one besides MJ seem to fly through the air. Tu basas tu opinion en quien es el mejor jugador pero de equipo, MJ sobresalia del resto del equipo pero no dejaba de ser excelente como jugador de equipo, tiene la segunda marca de robos en toda la NBA, un promedio alto de asistencias y rebotes. Puedes ver los numeros de Pippen por ejemplo cuando jugaba con Jordan, tiene un promedio alto de puntos por partido eso quiere decir que MJ hacia equipo excelente con Pippen. Jordan no es como Kobe de exhibicionista el si trabajaba en equipo.

I know the most of you will crucifize me for writing this, but I don't care. MJ was a tremendous athlete, but no way he's been the best basketball player of all times. I've seen at least 5 more talented players than him: Magic, Julius Erving, Petrovic and, of course, Sabonis and Larry Bird, the best two players of all time. I never saw Chamberlain or Bill Russell in action, but those 5 I've listed were better and more talented than Jordan

Many people didn't notice this, but after these Olympics Michael lost his leaping ability somewhat. in the 1992-93 season you didn't see Michael do the same high-flying dunks, I think he wore his legs out after an exhausting playoff run and playing with the Dream team. MJ still had footspeed, but couldn't jump as high. He got his hops back somewhat after coming out of retirement though. but once you hit 30 most high flying players lose their hops, it's starting to happen to Kobe a little now.

It's kind of a mute point, but MJ went almost exclusively to the fadeaway jumpshot in 92-93 because I believe his knees were shot and he couldn't jump. I know because I watched half of the Bulls' regular season and every game of the playoffs. There was even one game when the Bulls were playing in L.A. and Jordan PURPOSEly fumbled the ball out of bounds to avoid having to dunk without hops ( you could see Horace Grant clapping and laughing in the background.) Bulls were still champs so who cares.

Yeah his knees were worn out. The Bulls played 26 games in the 92 playoffs then MJ played some 15 games with the dream team in the Americas tournament and the Olympics. Barcelona was the last of the young, high-flying MJ. I have this theory that MJ planned to take a break to rest his legs then return to the game. Only thing that didn't make sense was him playing baseball...

Well the thing is. Jordan had stated that his play was always worse after he competed in the dunk contest. I think that this is the same kind of thing. Just like was Bill Russell said to Dwight Howard after the finals this year. "Take a break, Your body needs a rest." Jordan was getting up there in age also so he was loosing his leaping ability anyway, but i dont think he did as much as you say.
