  • Does any one know how to open this amp? I bought it used and there is a plastic bag where the tubes are at!!!!!!!!!!!!! HELP ME!!!

  • @megaluisdeth take off the back cover, take off the handle, turn on its SIDE and LOOSEN the feet as this holds the amp/tube section. I'm recalling from memory, but this is the gist of it

  • @richietalent Thanks got them out! Took it to shop for installment.

  • i played this in the music store and i fell in love with it

  • Even at 240p it sounds pretty damn decent...

  • The beginning reminds me of the theme song from M.A.S.H. :)

  • @MrDarinWarren Haaha me too.

  • @MrDarinWarren HAHa fuck thats funny.

  • nice dude, great tone

  • zz's song ^^ :D joe used to play it to his son still in his wife's womb to calm him down :PP

  • Comment removed

  • dude nic sound does the peavey jsx has the leds on the head i think lights in the head looks fucki8ng nice

  • Will this Amp work w/ a lower watt tube 6V6?

  • What are you playing? I dig it. Reminds me of Diablo 2.

  • Sounds so Hendrix-esque

  • Does this amp have a big bottom end? Is it it good for metal rythms?

  • @joehenao16

YEESSSS to both of your questions.

Just keep in mind that it's a 120w amp, so it's meant to be played LOUD.

That's when you'll get the most out of it.

I have one and it sounds fantastic at gigs, but sucks for home practice with low volume............

  • @RokGitara that is where volume pedals come in handy. You still dont get 100% but it does sound a lot better

  • @TheDisturbedSmurf - Attenuators are a much better option, though expensive.

In my experience, volume pedals seem to strip away all the "mojo" of great amps.

In the end you're left with a dull lifeless sound....

Also(as far as I know) they only reduce the signal coming out of your guitar, not the amp. So they wouldn't be very effective in that situation.

  • @RokGitara I dont ave that problem with mine, however it isnt a true volume pedal, its a shortboard with a built in volume pedal. It alters the sound coming out of the amp.

  • cristiano_guit A rroba ( iarru)...abração

  • Cara vc não é o CSSTRIKE 2006 do Mercado Livre? estou te procurando, pedi seu email para vários usuários q negociaram com vc. AInda tá vendendo seu JSX? me add no msn pra conversarms,,

  • I see youu :D

  • how tight is it?

  • honest to god this head is amazing. Short of the peavy 5150, this amp (played with an alexi ESP) is the best sounding thing i have heard

  • ok i just got this amp used from guitar center great condition was wounding i seen ones with 1 guitar input mine has 2 high input and low input im using Emgs-HZ pick ups witch input should i use?

  • i have the same JSX and it sounds exactly the same here.

  • What is it you say at 2:42? It sounds like "fresh" but I imagine you mean "crunch".

  • 4:19..I think I like it more without the fat switch.

  • looks like he plays it both on fat switch all the way, he just swithed in from crunch to ultra at 4:20

  • how much delay do you have and what delay pedal are you using? Btw great demo

  • Boss DD3

  • ZZ's song cover, though you're playing it a bit too fast though. great demo mate

  • Can hear some Andy TImmons influences in there I think?

  • really? i heard some stevie ray in some parts.

  • are you using the stock tubes or have you switched them out for another kind? thanks man

  • Check my version of malmsteen in the posted related vids, youll hear HEAVY shred easily on my JSX ;)

This is a GREAT clip, nice playing man!!!!

  • sounds good but i'd still rather have a carvin v3 for the money, which i'm buying next week !!!! ;)

  • got a question... can this amp play dream theater without any other external distortion????

  • very much so

  • Yeah, its has as much distortion as a 5150 had (loads!), check my vid response for some shredding examples on a JSX.

  • you should rather buy a used Mesa Boogie Mark IV, if you want DT tone :D

  • DT as in dream theater???

  • DT as deep throat

  • not necessarly

  • I'm thinking of getting this amp..is it good for distortion, or do you need to add some distortion pedals?

  • For more extreme metal styles, you MIGHT need a pedal, but I doubt it. The Ultra Channel has loads of gain. However, the clean channel takes pedals very well. Also, this amp sounds excellent at low volume levels. (yeah, I know.Who wants to play an amp like this at low volume?!!)

  • Are you kidding me?? Ive had this amp for 6 months and the sound is fucking heavy. That is if you use EMG 81s like I do. I don't know what other pick-ups sound like through it except for my strat that has a seymore hot rails which is only "ok". But seriously dude EMG 81's and a good guitar with a heavy mahogany body such as a Mayones Setius guitar (like i use) and you will be in heaven. FACT. Good luck.

  • Hey, thanks a lot. I'm selling my old Ibanez RG and getting an ESP, and a new amp. I hate how Line 6 sounds really artificial, I have a Spider 3 15. I'm looking for an amp thats $100-$300 and can sound heavy with or without pedals.

  • save a little bit, get a peavey valveking and get a good overdrive pedal

i use a boss me-70 through a jsx. but my friend has a valveking, and its amazing for the money, and the boss sounds really heavy, and im using an ibanez s470 with stock pickups, which are typically thin and weak

  • i use a pedal (boss me-70), but the ultra channel is pretty weak on this amp, like its thin.. but the amber channel is thick and can get pretty heavy. i use the amber channel, through in a little bit of boost or distortion, and get amazzing tone.

  • I've always loved Joe's clean sound and you definitely did justice to the amp, awesome awesome playing dude.

  • I played it at the geetar store. Awesome stack.

  • beautiful clean sound this thing gets! Great Demo!

  • wtf dude? he's fine. pretty decent

  • yeah my brother has one of these. and it sounds crystal clear and beautiful. i was really impressed. almost dreamy.

  • lol, i can see you playing in the amp!

  • quick question: does it sound this good without the editiing software in person?

  • I got one and the answer is : YES. Only annoying detail. A 7 pin cable for channel switching. Means you can't control the JSX via GT10 or so. Need a special interface. Otherwise it's a terrific machine. Clear channel is just incredible. 10 times better than marshall and some Mesa amps.

  • How you like the speakers?

  • nice chops man

  • I've had my jsx for 4 years now. It's the best amp I've ever played through!

  • do u know how to ake the amp sounds like the song eruption and still have a clean sound ?

  • Turn down the gain and turn up the volume.

  • thank u know the difference between per gain and post gain?

  • pre gives it the distortion: its the signal being brought in.

    post is the volume

  • thnks that'll help alot

  • it says he added reverb after the recording with sonar 3.0 wtf is that?

  • i considered buying a mesa but have just ordered my jsx .i have heard the amp a good few times on you tube and i think ive made the right decision

  • i wouldn't advise on doing that but i've played one and they rock so i guess u got lucky!

  • haha zz's songggggggggggggg

  • man i played one of these at guitar center after i got my guitar setup...the tech kept coming by asking me to pay him but i couldn't stop playin it...this thing rocks man its got great tone

  • what delay and guitar You Are Using It Sounds Sweet!!!

  • LOVE THE CLEAN MAN!!!!!!!

  • i want both joes and vai's amps! omfg i would be so happy!

  • absolutely nailed Joe's Tone. Bravo

  • its the best clean i have ever heard,i wanted to buy a mesa mark iv, but this made me think it twice

  • nice clean channel, i've been thinking of getting one

  • both joe satriani and steve vai made very good tube signature amps. although vai's is a little cheaper it is still very good with a versatile tube like vai tone :D

  • what's Vai's signature amp?

  • Carvin legacy..

  • yea the vai is cheaper cuz you can buy direct from carvin so it's cheaper, that's why carvin is awesome

  • oh and btw, this is the best amp ive ever heard probably lol. Apart from maybe my old peavey triumph, which is on the same level... PEAVEY RULES!

  • beutiful clean song by the way

  • which begringer mixer is this? and are they adequate for this type of stuff, and even singing etc

  • anyone know if this has more gain than the 6505?

  • it has quite a bit less gain. this amp is more versatile though. I personally own a 5150 and love it to death.

  • i own a jsx, and my friend has a 5150

i love both of them. personnally however, i like my jsx better, because it is more versatile, and has much more tones. the 5150 has a bit more gain, but the jsx has plenty of gain

  • AWESOME amp, nice playing aswell

  • This amp is just so smooth.

  • Reminds me of my Mark IV

  • nice demo. great representation of the tones...

  • Dude that's awesome. Great job and great tone. I'm really happy to hear someone play through a great rig and have it well miced.

  • id prefer that clean to any Fender

  • sounds really full recorded. i think that's where it picks up from the Triple XXX cause that sounds brittle and lifeless on tape

  • Hi wondering what u used to record (mic, mixer, sound card, etc...) any help appreciated thanks, excellent tone. Thanks

  • this is one of my favorite amps along with the peavey triple xxx series. I recomend getting either one If you are In a good rock band.

  • Sounds a little compressed on the clean sound. Is it?

  • I own the jsx and the clean is compressed sounding..it sparkles..

The clean channels is awesome and makes your pedals sound better, lol

  • which song are you playing?

  • im saving for this head i need it i have a good cab but shit head, so im saving for the jsx.

  • Great demo of an awesome amp! I own one and hook it up to a Marshall 2x12 1936 and it's the only amp I need to get just about any kind of tone. And for any tone gaps, this amp responds very well to any kind of pedals. Thanks Joe and Peavey for this amp!

  • The PAF Pro OWNS so underrated as a bridge pickup. Nice playing and tone.

  • This amp kills my Mesa Triple Rectifier when tracking...it's amazing...great playing!!!

  • The JSX is really a great amp. I love it!!!

    Rock on

  • PAF Pro bridge and EVO neck? O_o

  • Yes!

  • beautiful sound, satch knows what it makes :D

  • Also what are your settings? Just tryin to experiment with some different tones, just got mine in the mail today!

  • Hi! i cannot remember, but today i like to use this settings:

    CRUNCH

    presence 6,ressonance 5,master 1,volume 3,treble 6-7.5,mid 4,bass 9,fat on,gain 6,noise 8,loop send 10,loop return 10

    ULTRA

    presence 6,ressonance 5,master 10,volume 2.5,treble 7,mid 5,bass 10,fat on,gain 4,noise 8,loop send 10,loop return 10

    CLEAN: bass 4, mid 4 treble 4

  • the master at 10 add some treble and feed back.. i´m using the master at 10 with a THD HOT plate to power tube distortion, but the tone at low volume is very cool.

  • Thanks a lot, that helps me tons!

  • I know you said you are using the eminence governor speakers, but what actual cab are you using? Is it homemade or did you buy it? Closed back or open? Also, where on the cone is your 57 placed and what angle? Thank you!

  • The cabinet is homemad closed back. I like to use the right corner with a little angle and very very close to the speaker. I never mic the center, always the corner, the sound has more low end. thanks

  • I want a versatile amp, I play mainly METAL, rock and blues...

    Is this amp appropriate?

I love the tone, and people tell me that it's capable of producing an awesome high gain sound.

  • Try the TripleX and mesa too! this ampli has a monster distortion.

  • What cab are you using in this video?

  • 2x12 eminence governor 75W 16 omhs

  • great sound :) it's awesome amp !

  • sounds awesome man!! Other then converting in stereo, i think this is probably the best demo that captures the tone of the jsx. Great job man

  • Amazing. I like your style. The amp sounds great man, both clean and dirty. I am about to buy one, but can't actually try before I buy (buying online)...On the clean channel, if you increase the gain does it break up nicely/at all?

  • The clean channel does not breakup alone, i think you alread know, but using a pedal the sound breakup and its amazing. When the volume is about 12:00 the sound became more warm and bealtiful.

  • Ahh yep I didn't see your other vid with the DS1. Sounded great. What about under lower gain settings on the drive channels, is it a smooth breakup or quite rough and crackly. Some say this amp can be quite 'bright'. It's a tossup between this and the Marhsall JVM410. The pain of not being able to test drive the JSX!

  • I played this amp at the Guitar center it Rules this amp is way better then a Marshall

  • Whatever you're playing 1:05 sounds beautiful, I'd love to know what it is.

  • Thanks brother! the beginning is a ZZ song by Satriani, the rest is some improvisation.

  • Oh haha, yeah I know ZZ'z song, I'm a huge Satch fan. I have a JSX as well, isn't it great? :D

  • I´m fan too! sorry, i did not see your post above about this song.

  • man ..remember that mic placement ..That was a good representation of that amp ..

  • thanks brother! i´ll put more videos soon with different mic positions!

  • I also like to say I'm not running into a mixer. Im running the mic into my GNX4 which serves as my preamp and to my computer via USB.

But my tone dosen't crisp or clean like this at all! Why?!

  • The mixer is important to control the gain and noises. I´m using a mini mixer from behinger.

  • How did you get such a clean professional sound with that mic??!!

I use a SM57 on my 30 watt amp but it sounds alot dirty. This sounds so crisp and clean and clear! is it because of the amp, or the sound card?

  • I think the sound card is important too, m-audio delta 44. Thanks man!

  • Absolutely love this amp! I used it along with a Marshall 1960A and a Genz-Benz 2x12, sounds great with both. Clean channel, no buzz at all. Amazingly clean! Based on the Peavey XXX. Highly recommend!

  • hey man how do you like this amp. i think im about to buy one. i have a 5150, but i want a 3 channel amp with an actual clean chnnel.ha. but great demo man.

  • man, the reverb u added is stunning, its the only thing that lets the amp down, the lack of reverb control, but apart from that its an amazing amp

  • Very cool man, I just bought this amp last weekend. Love it. I have a little demo up, but the audio isn't great because I'm simply using my camera's mic. May I ask what settings you are using for ultra and crunch? I am more than happy to share mine if you are interested.

    Dave

  • Hi! i cannot remember mine, but i like to use: Crunch B8, M3, T6 gain 7, R5 P6 V3.

Ultra: B8, M2.5, T5, gain 5, faton. The clean channel T5, B4, M4. The loop 10return and 10send. I like to use the chanel volume high than the master volume. what's yours settings?

  • Crunch (for metal): T 5-6, M 3-4, B 7, V 5, G 6-7, fat switch on

    Crunch (for classic rock): T 5-6, M 5, B 7, V 5, G 3-4, fat switch on

    Ultra channel: T 5-7, M10, B 7, V5, G 4-5, fat switch off

As you can see, I really crank the mids when using the Ultra channel, which I only use for leads. To be honest, I'm pretty content just using the Crunch channel for leads too! As for clean, I keep most at 5, with treble up a little at times. Anyway, I just sub'd to you so I'll keep in touch!

  • Oh, and I keep resonance at 6-7, and presence at 4 usually.

  • also, how did you convert your sound file to stereo?

  • To upload stereo sound, you must export to FLV (flash video), 128kbps.

  • and then what interface did you use?

  • sony vegas and Xilisoft FLV Converter 3.

  • how did you set up your recording gear? software? mixer? etc?

  • The mixer is on a flat mode, 0db gain, the level is about 1 o'clock. I record mono. I think jsx it´s close to 12 o'clock all knobs.

To upload stereo sound, you must export to FLV (flash video), 128kbps.

  • what are you playing man its sweet

  • "Z.Z's Song" By Joe Satriani

  • thats the tone i dream of.

  • Yeah! What a really precious sound! I like it very much.

Is there a big difference between the Peavy XXX and the JSX? I'm going to buy one of them.

  • I played only 20 minutes with the Triple XXX :), both amps are excellent. The XXX is very very good. The main difference is the clean and crunch channel. The clean channel is unbreakable and the crunch is more classic sound on the JSX.

  • That amp has a line out right? Can you go from that straight to a computer?

  • yes, but the sound will go to the speaker. I use the THD hot Plate line out and some virtual speaker simulation to record draft stuffs.

  • Nice, What is a PREAMP ? and sound card?

  • Sound card is a M-audio delta 44, and mixer behinger UB502. Thanks!

  • Nice tone is right!

  • very nice, really, i like the JSX's tone, but I prefer rythm guitars, then i've got a dual rectifier.

    keep rocking!

  • Wow!!!impressed!!!thanks for a great fuccin demo!!! I'm sold now!!!!

  • I totally agree with 'arbogastband' it's so nice to have someone who can actually play clean lol.

    Awesome playing :)

  • what pickup are you playing on?

  • neck Evolution and bridge Pafpro, all 5 positions. Guitar ibanez rg1570

  • Very nice work! Even though the gain goes all the way to "11" on this amp, it's nice to just play clean stuff on it...it really shines! Good job with the riffs.

  • Wonderful stuff man. I dig the whole mood and vibe od this. Everyone wants to show off by cranking the hell outta this amp but not too many can do it without the distortion like you have here! Good work.

  • I saw your video with the jsx NAMM prototype, amazing tone and playing!

  • Nice tone dude!
