  • You clearly have very little understanding of what you were explaining, You saw the patch somewhere, and wrote all the parameters down, and then just read them back out, while recreating the patch. You should know that if you do not click the littlle shiny button, as you may call it, on the Equalizer, changing the parameters (frequency, gain, etc.) will do nothing.

But in any case, still appreciated that you post videos.

  • why dont you post the patch?

  • @jondoe8o so you would have to watch the video :D

  • seriously dude you are a pro !! thx im a make a lots of muzik !!

  • dude this sounds amazing in my turtle beaches. im gonna use this as my synth lead in my new dubstep track.

  • You need better sounds. I purchased 300Gb worth of refills on 80 DVD's for like $90 bucks on eBay.

    Search "Gigantic 300" on Ebay

  • How can I connect my synthesizer to the computer? which cable i need for that? where are the settings for that? CAN YOU PLEASE PLEASE MAKE TUTORIAL FOR THAT

  • @lazicsale lol. Surely if you bought a hardware synth you would know how to connect it to a computer? Anyways, what synth is it? What sound interfaces and what software are you using? Is it just a midi keyboard? In that case its just a simple usb to usb.

  • @SoundGauge im using CASIO SA-20

  • @lazicsale Ok. So what software are you using? When you say 'connect', i'm guessing you want to control midi notes, or what? Either way the case should be as simple as using a usb cable.

  • @SoundGauge i bought a cable and i connect it to computer.. but i don't know how to connect to REASON plzz help wher are settings for that how can i do that??? plzz help

  • @lazicsale Dunno exactly as i'm pretty new to reason myself, i could probably work it out.

  • @lazicsale Ok....1) Make sure your keyboard is plugged in then open up reason. 2) Go to Edit. 3) Open Preferences. 4) On preferences, go to the page: Keyboards and Control Surfaces. 5) Either Detect Device or Manually select the device from 'add'. From here on just make sure the preferences are set to what you want, i don't know exactly what else it will ask you to do (i.e. In/Out Port) as i don't use a midi keyboard. Hope this helps. Don't hesitate to ask if you have another question. (:

  • You do a lot of redundant things that have no effect on the sound. Telling newbies to do this will probably confuse them. E.G:

changing PW's on the analog synth don't affect any waveforms besides the Pulse Wave (square), hence the line drawn to it from the PW knob.

Changing the Decay (D) on your amp envelope doesn't matter if your Sustain (S) is at maximum

Setting parameters in the MClass Equalizer without turning on that set of parameters does nothing as well

  • How do you know what tool to use ?

  • how did you get such a good understanding of making synths and knowing what tools to use?

  • you called a sine wave a squiggly s-shape. also analog pw controls square waves, not saws, so changing that parameter does absolutely nothing in this case.

  • @Naderskater7 look at the date of this. this was when he was still figuring it out properly. we got the sound we wanted so whats the problem?

  • @doggotbitm If you turn a knob and it's doing virtually nothing to the sound, when it's obviously not even controlling that parameter, does it really need to take three years to figure out you're doing nothing.

  • I appreciate the lesson man

  • Changing the parameters of the low shelf without enabling it? Are you on crack?

  • The point of this video is not to make this synth, but its a blueprint of how to make your own at will. Good luck my people

  • the 12 people who dislike this are gay

  • As far as I know, the Pulsewidth only effects the Pulsewave (that's why this little line goes from the pulsewave to the pulsewidth knob).

Also there is no use in setting the low shelf if you don't activate it

But I think you know all of this by now ;)

  • OK if anybody is having trouble finding "INIT PATCH" like the one he's using in the vid, heres how you do it. you can try clicking the folder and finding it, but if you can't... heres what you do. 1. go to "Reason preferences" on the top left on your screen 2. go to "general" on the top. 3. Unclick "Load default sound in new devices" at the bottom. then open your synth and it should already have the "init patch" loaded.

  • The PW only works with square waves ;D

  • at 1:34 u set the PW to 64 which is for the pulse wave but on that osc u have selected the saw wave!.. so it doesnt matter where u set the PW becuz its not even selected

  • what instrument did you select for the thor? my default is different

  • @DionysusPUA Init patch.. Right click and click initialize patch and try remaking this synth

  • @bassline0121 hey where can i find the init patch i looked everywhere in my thor synth and couldnt find it! help please!!!

  • @juxtaz5 Righ click on thor or any device on reason and go on to initialize patch and click..

  • @DionysusPUA you need to use reason more before you hop right on trying to make dubstep

  • what instrument do you select in the thor ? my default is epic poly whenever I create a new one that comes up.

  • I made this one in Logic pro but this one is even better...

  • The Sound is good. But the rhythm is wrong...

  • lol "the squiggly S shape" :P

  • how the hell did you do this? this is fantastic!

  • Too much portamento dontcha think

  • this reminds me of drop the pressure (jack beats 'rinsed out rave' remix) great song :)

  • Man, PW parameter change only square signal.

Check the "Duty cycle" on wiki

  • Your Music is really good! i just found out about you, you should come back and play a show in the bay area...

  • Ok Quick Question....

what's the purpose of using the Vocoder? I know your using it as an EQ but is it mainly for the shift?

  • Hey mate, just wanted to drop a note of thanks for having the courage to put yourself out there in the name of helping new cats out. There will always be haters pointing out needless details. Don't apologize. You're doing your best. And I don't see them trying to help anyone out.. sesh is too busy with the 10 cutest cat moments at the moment. If this was one of your first then I'm in for a good ride cuz I just stumbled upon your work. Cheers.

  • how do you make it tune up like that?

  • lolz nvm i got it

  • when i create my thor, the patch is "epic poly" but his patch is "unit patch" does it matter? how do i change mine to "unit patch?" sorry im new to reason and used to acid pro.

  • do a tutorial on how to make the Tik Tok by Kesha synth!

  • Awesome tutorial brother! You're a saint of electronic music.

  • Thanks,lucky! cheers man!

  • omg this world has gone digital i mean i just wante.... i just wanted... to ask you wat kind of synther you're usin baaaaahuhuhuhuhoooooo *broke in tears*

  • im not sure but i think PW only affects square wave, just saves a bitta time. i realised this was 2 years ago and u might know by now but still every little helps :)

  • what program do you use for all this?

  • @emeraldFloyd Reason

  • Cool Music - idiot VOICE

  • OMG it sound quite better than the original!!

  • the PW (Pulse Width) is only effecting the squre wave , not the sawtooth or the sine waves!

  • the melody isnt right...

  • @djavelange yeah everybody's watching the vid to make the same exact melody right?

  • UH, PW (WHICH IS PULSE-WIDTH) DOESN'T AFFECT ANYTHING BUT THE PULSE WAVE (HENCE THE NAME)...You're messing with shit that doesn't DO anything...

  • Damn, you have a gay voice man....

  • this is great :P i love that synth, so raw and fresh

  • hi there lucky. am new to this. i woz just wondering if i make this synth can i save it as a patch and upload it when ever i want to use it in a track? thanks

  • ELECTRO HOUSE FLP!~

    /watch?v=rE2aQAvVSwI

  • a hell lot of stuff used to make 1 patch, this is what i find sometimes annoying about reason.

  • Just wonderful! Thanks, works a treat and guided me around Thor pretty nicely - mostly it's just gobbledegook to me! :D

  • brutal

  • this is to give you an idea of how you go about gettuing certain sounds so you know what to tweek to find your own sound. It's not about copying at all... those who wish to just copy others will get no where. Those who learn from this tut will maybe go on to make an even fatter sound. dont judge it on face value its a helpful tutorial

  • youre so right but its a good way to use other peoples experiences!!!

  • @symplec if he has the skill to creat an exact copy of someone elses synth patches, i think that he will have the skill to make his own

  • sucks hardcore

  • much like this comment

  • Just a quick question, How do you play the synth? I noticed you didnt click play but what did you do?

  • @DjLimefox if u think reason is bullshit why watch a tutorial on it lol

  • So wrong, far to many notes which makes it sound not as good as the original listen to it. Nice sound tho (y)

  • sounds more like bsod-lollercoaster ( deadmau5 outright hilarious remix)

  • how do you get the initial patch on the thor synthesizer?

  • Left click on the thor device, and select "Initialize patch"

  • right click i mean LOL

  • @yepthisis

"Init Patch" is when an instrument is cleared out, or 'initialised'. To do this, right click on the instrument and select 'Initialize Patch' from the menu.

  • such good nerdiness here awesome tutorial thanks!

  • now 10000 people will make songs with that synth

  • @VJbasti The synth/sample is actually in VEH3, it's named VEH3 Synths Root C 014. :)

  • @VJbasti let them make it sounds shitty xD

  • @VJbasti Listen to any recent song in the top ten, they've all watched this tutorial.

  • ehh it's good enough though. you wouldn't want to be caught copying the sound. it's a nice one. good work :D

  • thanks, big ups!

  • Ok, thats a pretty good example of that kind of sound, but, can you tell me why in the turorial, you dont switch parameter 1 on the mclass eq yet you change thevalues of parameter 1. That serves no purpose. Also when you create the vocoder in eq mode you make sure the dry wet is at 127, again pointless as this parameter only has a use in vocoder mode.

Not meaning to be cheeky, just cant figure out why you would do that as none of those things make any difference to the sound.

  • Very nice... Works good... had to do a few changes to it but rather helpful

  • Comment removed

  • sounds flat......

  • what patch do you use?

  • @frankjaeger8 you right click on the patch and click initialize patch

  • wow looks verrrry harrrrd

  • come on its not even close to the original

  • but its not bad though....

  • Comment removed

  • @samathanwataguan Im pretty sure this is about the synth...not the song

  • Shit ... why'd I say that> haha. Yeah yeah it is.

  • @qkyqky agreed about the pw modulation, but he clearly knows what he is doing for the majority of it...

  • @DjRodi13FTDjSasy17 you have to buy it, It is professional software.

  • @qkyqky get a life man...seriously.

  • Why do you switch the PW? I always thought it only has an effect on the square.waves, and since you not using one it seemed odd to me.

  • i love ur vids i subbed you :D

  • You should add a mod envelope controller in the matrix to the osc3 pw at about out 90% move the attack out in the mod env past 2 secs and the decay about 9 secs.

It will add a little texture and movement when you open the filter up.

  • What the point in setting the lo cut levels on the eq if your not going to activate it man? This tutorial is so over-engineered ur just wastin CPU power!

  • I guess qkyqky can make B.E.T.T.E.R tutorials.. than what r u waitin for b***h!?

cool tutorials . Thanks again Lucky Date

  • i followed the whole tuto i still dont have the percussive ttack thatyu he at the beginni of the vids

  • i know this is going to sound nooby but can i get the notes to the synth at the end of the video? much appreciated. :)

  • fukin love these tutorials very helpful and gettin some wicked sounds thanks very much

  • my thor doesnt have a blank init patch :(

  • right click on it and then click on initialize patch...

  • @hugendubel17

    :-/ lol

  • @PunkyLemming errrr, it should ??? if you just load up the Thor it should automatically default to the init patch

  • Thanks for uploading this! However, I'd like to know what tutorial you are reading/copying from when you are setting things up? It might be better if you actually learned the what's/why's for everything you are doing, instead of just copying numbers. Also..... one quick tip. Hold down "shift" to move sliders/knobs more exactly (like when you were trying to fit the filter envelope sustain slider but couldn't get it exactly).

  • @SyncrisisVideos yea I agree, its very nice to post tut.s up and i highly appreciated but if the details were explained this would be even better!

  • at this point in time I stumbles on this sound by just messing with a juno synth, I knew very little about what I was doing but have always had the ear for it. Once I got the sound I wanted I just recorded the numbers on a piece of paper and read it aloud lol this was one of my early tutorials sorry for the confusion

  • @SyncrisisVideos Someone had to find it. Doesn't mean he copied...

  • fucking great thanks man :D

  • DJsesh9 needs to get a life the fkng twat....

  • okay, also there is a difference, all be it small, made in the sound using the vocoder, even in EQ mode and without adjusting the EQ at all by changing the formant shift value. So I was wrong about the vocoder not doing anything.

  • Sorry for being so abrasive. And you do have a talent for getting pretty close on to these synths, that you are (or at least "were")doing it with less than a full education is impressive in it's own right. But maybe you could update the vid or something?...

Also, your tracks are hot, so at the end of the day it really doesn't matter how many unnecessary devices you may or may not be running!

  • thanks man, glad you can still appreciate :)

  • @luckydatevideos hey how do you learn how to create sounds, actaully knowing what to do step by step to get the sound that you want. not just to keep turning knobs till you get a good sound. did you go to school for this?

  • @djsesh9 maybe you should start putting some tutorials up. I'm tired of armchair pundits who're quick to criticise but do fuck all to help people like this guy is doing.

  • this was one of my first videos, didnt know much back then sorry

  • @luckydatevideos hey, i think its a great thing youre doing, at one point sound is sound and people have to learn SOME things for themselves as they search for their individual sounds. i realize some things might be incorrect but its a cool help to people that can barely figure out how to turn anything on...... peace

  • @djsesh9 okay mr genius then you put up a tutorial video showing how its done, i'd love to see it done the 'right' way

  • i can't even begin to list the amount of things that are wrong/stupid about this tut. We can start with, why are you telling people to dial in an EQ setting, but not activate the pole? What difference do you think it makes to adjust the settings of devices that are not active? And what are you loading the vocoder for? Without setting any of the bands, it's doing nothing. And the decay and sustain params on that unit are for the vocoder, not the EQ, Your giving people bad info.

  • never head bodyrox jeah jeah?...the melodie is false.. nc.. : /

  • Not a good tutorial for the WHYS, downloading the file would of been the same thing to my learning.

Suggestion maybe? Don't just go through the list of parameters to set, talk about the inter workings.

  • thanx a lot^^great great great.

i was looking for that specific synth^^yeah yeah....awesome.

please record some more tutorials of building famous synths in reaso^^

  • What is the specific "thing" that makes the pitch slide up/down from the previous note?

  • in reason it is called portamento, in most other programs its called glide

  • Heh, couldn't u just link us to a patch? :O

  • im about teaching not about just giving stuff away

  • In any case, I made the synth in the vid and it's fuckin' sick! Thanks :)

  • My drums keep on dipping out when the synth plays :(

  • turn the synth down then you have too much bass its becoming distorted

  • Thanks Hommie Cool stuff

  • so it doesn't works at 3.0?

because i have this version not reason 4.0

  • thats bcuz thor is only in reason 4

  • Coming from a Logic/Pro Tools user, I reckon you don't know what you're talking about. It's the instrument that makes the sound and Thor is a great instrument. In fact, Reasons bundled instruments are what makes it so popular, whereas the Logic bundled instruments are ok at best, to be honest.

  • reason itself is an instrument

  • 'preciated

  • btw, i subscribed, just had to point that out xD

  • this video is riddled with errors... the worst being "set the pw amount to 64" they are saw waves, and the pw only affects the square waveform. also, a vocoder will not change the sound of a synth, only a modulator (vocal) running through it. oh, and one other is that you never actually ticked the "lo shelf" box, after you showed what to set it at. not to be an asshole (cuz ur other tutorial vids are great) but you should make sure you know what you're talking about before making a video.

  • this was one of my first tutorials, at the time I thought I knew what I was doing, you are right about the saw wav and the lo shelf but wrong about the vocoder, if you switch the vocoder to equalizer mode it has some great effects on the frequency

  • Brilliant mate where did you lean these things?

  • Fantastic mate ! Thanks alot.

  • whats the thor synth

  • it in the version 4 !

    u maybe gote 3

  • Can you make a Tutorial for Reason 3?

    Cause I love this Sound!!

    And I have just Reason 3 :(

  • Do the same thing but in the subtractor.

  • amazing!! i thought i could never get any good sounds from reason i was losing hope but you av restored my faith well done

  • watch?v=D9ZfPJjJL3Y

  • The original producer didn't go through half as much trouble to make this sound !

  • what makes you say that

  • Well for one, its easier to create something than to replicate it without knowing the exact settings.

    And two, they used hardware.

  • haha its true, although i didnt go through any trouble at all because i made this synth by accident

  • Haha nice :)

    It sounds good though.

  • can you show us the chords sequence

  • great job! i was interested in the little filling sounds at the end of the vid..the ones between the kicks. I know it's not about the synth, but i really like em XD
