The way Gillian Murphy portrays Odile is absolutely amazing and takes my breath away. SO believable and her style and emotion in her performance made me cry. She is my favorite dancer and she always have been, always will be. Its my billionth time watching this and I could go on forever!

@LilyMoth12 No, I was referring to the slow tempo mantained by today's dancers and their hyperextensions, as well as the tinkering of this Petipa/Ivanov masterpiece by modern choreographers. Actually, I much prefer the ballet ending with a double suicide (as in the original Petipa/Ivanov production). I'm sure that if he had lived to see the 1895 revival by those two geniuses he would've reconciled with his own score :)

@bjnboy Maybe so, but for me at least, that sort of takes away from the betrayal. Obviously Siegfried never intentionally sought to betray Odette, but somehow it's more tragic for him to make an honest but naive mistake, than for him to be enchanted, as if he's under a spell, it was never really his fault, and so Odette really should never have had to forgive him... maybe it's just me.

I like Gillian AND Svetlana--they're very different, but they are both exceptional. I feel like Gillian brings out the more evil side of Odile and has more nuanced expression, while Sveta is flirty and sexy, plus she has the BEST feet ever!
